Happy Holidays Give Away

Happy Holidays

I love this time of year.  Getting the house decorated, picking out the perfect gift, wrapping and baking.  I love it all.

This is a time of year when I love to pay things forward and do random acts of kindness too.  It just makes you feel so good to help others.

So I decided to do a giveaway for all you lovely bloggers that have supported me and have become bloggie friends.

I love getting to know all of you through comments and emails and your blogs.  It has been a fun year and half for me in blogland.

So I am giving away these lovely Junking totes.  I got them on a site called www.junkloveandco.com.  If you have a chance check out this site.   Amy the talent behind this Etsy Shop  makes some pretty cute things.  Thank you Amy for making these totes and letting me finish them with some  bling for this give away.

Don't you just love the saying on these totes.  This is the motto I have hanging in my office.  So true!!!!

When Amy sent them to me I felt like I needed to bling them up a little bit so with her permission I went in my craft basket and came up with this button trim and decided to add it to the totes to make this give away have a little of my crafty side in it too.

The buttons just give this already cute bag a little more bling.

All you have to do is leave a comment on a random act of kindness you have done for someone and that is it.

You will be entered in the drawing and I will love reading about the special thing you did for someone else.  We are all so blessed in so many ways and to pay it forward to others is so kind, caring and loving.  So please share with me your act or acts of kindness and you will be entered to win.

Have a wonderful finish to the week and a lovely week end.
Happy Shopping, wrapping, decorating and baking.  I will post the winners of the totes over the week end.

Oh, One More Thing:
I have to say I have one of the best hubby's out there.  I got my Grace Angel last year for Christmas from him (you can see her below)  and this year he got me another one.  Cathy from Cheswick Company on Etsy makes these one of a kind Angels.
This is Amazing Grace I got last year.  Cathy does such beautiful work.  Each Angel is unique and one of a kind. She finds vintage Christening gowns to dress her angels.  I love Grace I keep her out all year long.

My newest Angel from Cathy.  I love her vintage Christening gown and her little vintage sweater.

It is hard to capture a good picture of her in this snow wreath on my front window.  She is beautiful and has a gold sparkle crown which is hard to see.  I have to name her and have not come up with a name yet.  Any ideas?
You will see more of Grace and this newest little angel in my Christmas Decor Link Party on Monday December 9th.
Be sure to come back to view my Christmas tour and the five other bloggers joining in on the Christmas tour next week and be sure to join in the party with your pretty Christmas decor inspiration.

Have a wonderful week.  I will draw out the winners of the give away this week end.

Yep the best feeling is when we can do something even a little gesture to the men and women that put their lives on the line for our freedom. The sacrifices they make with their own lives is a blessing to all of us. Thanks for sharing and good luck.

I like to pay for our military men/women when in line. It surprises them.
I also like to stop and chat with the elderly when out shopping. Most of them are caught off guard but end up just chatting away! LOL

  7. Good morning. I love the angel. Beautiful. I also love your giveaway. Very sweet of you. Its hard sometimes to think of all the things I do out of kindness as a person just does them and doesn't think of it in that way sometimes. As I pondered this I realized hmn I guess I really do! lol
As my mother was really sick she worried the most of my brother who is 18yrs older than me and my twin. He has a wife and two sons on SSI with disabilities. Who would take care of him etc. We told her we would look after him. We save our cans, we invited his family to the Buffet where we work for Thanksgiving, he said how much is it going to cost me sis, we said nothing. He brought a friend also in need, I make his laundry soap for him, I love him. I dont think of it as an act of kindness but just love! Thanks for the giveaway! Thanks for you!

  9. Good morning.. I was blessed when I read what you wrote about acts of kindness. Thank you so much for sharing. It's so good to be reminded that there are so many giving, caring people out there. Many years ago, we knew a family with young children who had been in foster care but were returned just before Thanksgiving. The parents needed a little help and so our family decided to take them a turkey and some other things for Thanksgiving. I still remember how excited the kids were. WE felt like the blessed ones! Thank you for the give-away opportunity and for the chance to hear other's acts of kindness.

    Blessings to you!

They seem to enjoy it and we giggle about the hilarity of a horrible situation.....I really feel it is a mission the Lord has given to me right now. Have fun with your Christmas decor....beautiful!

  13. Hi Kris,
Your angels are so sweet (and so is your husband!) - I love those faces on those girls. You are always so thoughtful, and to be hosting a giveaway right now is really special. I picked up a random card yesterday in the antique mall to help sponsor families in need - went to Big Lots and bought a set of sheets, and hope to do a couple more. It's very sad when you see families ask for cleaning supplies for Christmas presents......and I saw at least 3 of them with that written on the cards. We are all so blessed, sometimes we forget about the simplest of things.

    1. Thank you Rita for your story. I have a family I am sponsoring from Church and the kids put down they want hats, gloves, boots and pajamas. No toys were asked for. That tugs at my heart when the kids go without the toys others take for granted and want and just ask for things they need. I know your family will appreciate your kind and generous heart. Good Luck.

I love your "requirement" to be entered in your giveaway even though it's difficult sometimes to express what we do for others. My husband and I have experienced difficult periods of unemployment, so we have reached out in a variety of ways (money, groceries, dinners, household items) to help those we know going through similar hard times.

  15. Hi Kris - Love your angels! They are precious. I love to look around and see where there are things I can do to make someone's day a bit brighter. When Landen was in the hospital a few years ago, we got a group together and fixed Christmas dinner on Christmas Day for everyone on the cancer floor of the childrens hospital. We did such a small thing that made so many's day a little brighter being in the hospital on that special day.

Another thing I do at Christmas is that I have about 10-13 elderly friends that I take poinsettas to for Christmas. I hit the sales on Black Friday - a lot of places have poinsettas reasonably priced and then deliver them to my friends. I guess I hope someone will do that for me when I get really old. LOL

    Thanks for the giveaway.

  16. Our random act of kindness was to give electric heaters to one of my coworkers when hearing that the only heat in her house was from wood. She had spent the weekend splitting wood because a winter storm was coming. When I heard this I asked my husband to pick up some heaters and gave her them to heat up her house. I know her family was warm! Thank you for having such a nice give away, Di.

I love that you are having a Acts of Kindest - I don't know if this qualifies but I have a friend who has some problems and she doesn't have a car so I take her to the store every week so she can get her groceries and to the bank. She was going to take a bus to a different city to purchase a Christmas gift and it would take her most of the day so I drove her so she wouldn't have to take numerous buses to get there and back. She is a dear sweet person.

  19. Kris...you know I love your angels. I have a large one in an old Christening gown hanging in my dining room.
Around here where I live...many folks are out of work, so this year at my Christmas show when someone purchased something from me...I let them pick out another little piece of jewelry from a basket that had Christmas and Fall pins in it for free. It could be for themselves or has a gift to give to someone else. I also had a basket of candy canes that I made and I let the little kids pick some out for free. One little girl was so excited and said she was going to give the candy cane to her daddy for Christmas. That just made my day!

  20. What a wonderful giveaway!
I work at a nursing home in the Dementia Unit. Every Christmas, I buy a few extra gifts
For the residents that I take Care of. Whether it's socks or body wash, lotion, some new pajamas,
Hankies, or whatever I think they need. Some of these residents families don't come to see
Them, or some may not have family. They may not remember, but it makes me feel good knowing
That I could bring a smile to their faces when they open a small gift, such as a pair of socks.

  22. Love the totes! Hmm, "a random act of kindness you have done for someone"...this is hard for me, because I thought you were to remain nameless in the act? I had to leave my job a few years back, can't believe it's been that long, and am now on disability and the Hubs is unemployed. Although we rarely can afford to give money, we always contribute clothes and food. We have also been cutting coupons out and leave them on the shelves at the grocery for others. I know it seems small, but we try to do what we can.

  25. As a family we decide to choose a family every year to help out at Christmas. It started when my girls were very young, and my 7 year old came home and said a girl in her class said there is no Santa because she didn't get any presents. My loving daughter told her the story of Jesus, and came home and said she would like me to buy presents for her friend instead of her this year. We talked about the family at dinner, and decided we were all blessed enough and adopted the family. They had a fantastic Christmas, and of course our kids got presents, too. What joy it brought our family to do this!

  30. How sweet of you Kris...you always have such a giving heart! I love your new little angel, of course I think I'd love any pretty angel that you'd post. Everything always looks so pretty and you have that magical touch that transforms it into it's true beauty! Now, as for entering the giveaway, it's hard to talk about yourself and what you do without sounding like your bragging. But I want to win, so I'll give it a try. Just recently, my youngest daughter and I were out running errands at our local strip mall. I noticed a man walking around everywhere with a huge camping backpack and looked like a mountain man. I said a little prayer for him then. You could tell that he was homeless but not skanky. Anyways, after we finished up our shopping, we stopped in to Pizza Hut to pick up our order. He walked in infront of us straight to the counter and began asking prices. As the lady told him, you could see disappointment on his face that he didn't have enough money. Then he turned to walk away...that's when I told him "do you want a pizza? Order it, I'll pay." He looked at me kind of in disbelief. I repeated myself as I put my hand on his shoulder reassuring him that it was ok and said to order. The lady at the counter gave us an even more puzzled look, lol. I then asked if he wanted a pop...he said no...water. I asked to pay for a water too and the lady said they'd cover that. A little worry hit me when he began to order, we were on limited funds so I wondered had I made a mistake because he could order anything! He ordered a medium pizza and that was all. He then turned to me and said in a low voice and a small stutter, "thank you so much, I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving." I shook his hand and gave him a hug telling him "you too" and to enjoy his dinner. When we got into the car, my daughter said when I stopped him from leaving to ask him if he wanted a pizza, she worried and wondered what I was doing, lol. We then talked about how we need to help people that seem to need it. God put him in my path after I said that little prayer for him and I definitely know how God works, so I done what was put on my heart and we were both blessed!

  32. What sweet bags Kris! Everything you do is so special. There's a saying I heard many years ago that has always stuck with me... "People will not remember what you did, they will remember how you made them feel." It's one of the keys to life that God has for us that many people never even realize is there. Once you "get it" it changes you forever. Exactly what our good Lord wants to happen to us.

Our scrapbook leader, Carla, of our scrappin' group suffered a seizure while at the Ohio State Fair and seriously injured her head when she fell on a brick sidewalk. I was friends with Carla but didn't really know her all that well. She was best friends with our previous scrapbook leader, Claudia, who passed away a year ago from colon cancer. It was a tragic loss to all of us, everybody loved Claudia. Then Carla became best friends with a sweet gal in our group, Cathy, and they helped each other though the loss of Claudia. Then Cathy's husband took a job in another city and Cathy had to move and leave Carla. Another loss but caused by distance this time. Well when Carla had the seizure and was hospitalized they started her on meds, stapled her large head wound shut and told her she couldn't drive for 6 months until the meds were the correct level and she had no more seizures. Carla watches her 18mo old granddaughter 5 days a week. Carla's hubby could work from home but had to go into work every Tues & Wed, Carla would be alone with the little one. I was terrified for her and asked her if I could come over those days and "hang out" with her. She said she would really love that. I drove her and little one wherever they wanted to go, shopping, dr appts, whatever. She needed to get out of the house really bad!! Not driving was such a tragedy for her, but she did not get behind the wheel once because of the danger she could be to others. I was so proud of her! So Carla and I had our 2 days every week to do whatever she felt like. I felt I was helping keep Carla safe but the biggest blessing was what she gave to me... her friendship! We have become good friends and have had so much fun, laughs & tears together. Little one runs to me when I walk in the door and jumps into my arms with smiles and jabbering. Carla, who is not a demonstrative person with affection, hugs me! Oh God is so good. When we try to bless others He blesses us more!! I don't like to talk about things I do but this is such a good example of God works to bless us. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that Carla and I are such good friends now. To God be the Glory!

Holiday blessings to you and yours! Edie Marie

    Subject: Act's of kindness

Hi Kris , my name is Tammy & I'm from Ohio. I don't know if an e-mail count's as an entry & I'm not one to toot my own horn, but I'd like to share a few small act's of kindness I've done just to pay it forward.
Let me start w/ animals , last week by the elementary school, as I drove my son out to the high school I saw the most beautiful long haired black & white cat hit in the middle of the road. Ran my son out to the high school 5 mi. out, came back stopped at the gas station to get a box ( of course they had none) hunted down a town worker to pick her up. She was someone's pet & the children would be walking to school in 45 minutes & I didn't want the children seeing her/him.I also just had to put my white Pomerian to sleep because of cancer, I had the vet come to my home so she wouldn't be afraid. The cost didn't matter, her dignity did.As far as people , as soon as I found out the cashier at our little market had cancer in her 2 lymph nodes& no insurance I went to the local Amish market & bought an insulated bag & filled it w/ turkey , swiss cheese, homemade bun's , cole slaw, fry pie's,& other goodies. Between my mom , a friend & I , I gave her a card w/ $100.00 cash.
Might not seem like much but I'm on disability & on limited means. I don't own a computer , but last year I was blessed to be able to get an IPhone, I'm now in the cyber world at age 48.
I check every day to see if you've posted , you alway's put a smile ony face!! The angel's are so nostalgic looking, like they were created just for your home.
I don't C'mas shop except for my son & a best friend in Georgia. I went on Amy's site & ordered the 37.00 sweatshirt for my friend, she'll love it.
Hope you & your's have a magical holiday!!! Hug's, Tammy
P.s. I'm the one who has a cart full of groceries go in front of me when you only have a few. A lady at Walmart told me how kind that was the other day, no that's just having good manner's & a kind heart.

  34. thank you for the sweet giveaway.
I love the added touch to the bag.

I like to do little surprise things for people, so deciding which one to share is hard part of this.

I guess easiest is that lately I bought a lot of $5.00 gift cards at McDonald's, so when I see someone who is asking for help, I give them one of the cards. That way I know that, even though it is fast food, I am giving them a meal. =)

    Christmas Blessings

    1. Oh Barb that is such a great idea that way too you know they will buy a meal and not alcohol or anything that is bad for them. What a wonderful and thoughtful thing. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the drawing.

  35. I love your new angel!!!! OK, one time I was going to the grocery store and I spotted a parking space very close to the store. I noticed that an older woman was following behind me and thought that she might like the close space. Then, I realized that the space was a "pull through" meaning that the space directly in front of it was open. I waved the woman to follow as I pulled through she was able to pull in behind me. She was so appreciative she actually thanked me . I felt good about what I had done and making others happy always makes me day! Hugs, Leena

    1. Leena,
You are the sweetest. I love when things like that happen they just make your whole day. I can so see you doing this. I am happy the lady took a couple of minutes to say thank you that always is a plus after you do something so sweet like that. You also get points from me for your giveaway to help out the lady that I help. That is a very nice act of kindness and it made my heart smile to know I could win that to pay it forward to someone in need. You are too sweet and an angel.
Thanks again for sharing your story. Good luck.
