Hope your week is going great.
I wanted to show you a quick DIY I did on my grandmother's cedar chest I inherited.
I did not get a before picture of this cedar chest :(. It was dark brown and I painted it white and I decided to chippy it.
Mouse Sander with light grid sandpaper to get the chippy look. |
Yep!!! Major Bed Messer Upper! |
Now if she adds a few scratches here and there as she gets up and down off this chest it will just add to the chippy feel. Have a great week. Kris :) |
Kris, I like that make over. It fits prefect at the end of the bed too. Your room is so wonderful looking. So light. I really love the coverlet on top of the bed. Hope you are having fun with your mom. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI have always loved the look of a chest at the foot of the bed, reminds me of my grandmother's cozy and welcoming home. That dollhouse
ReplyDeleteis the perfect accent, too!
The chest is pretty, but I love the bed messer upper:)
ReplyDeleteThis chest is so pretty! I love having them at the foot of the bed! Libby is adorable also...she just looks so innocent lying on your bed! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is straight out of a magazine Kris - how gorgeous - really !

Lovely. You do "chippy" well! :)
ReplyDeleteKris, the chest is gorgeous! And Libby knows a good thing when she sees it! :)

I think the chest is a stunner and goes so well in your beautiful home!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the space for a cedar chest at the foot of my bed.
ReplyDeleteYour chippy charm did it again!
Your room looks so calm and lovely, Kris. The chippy chest is a perfect piece for the end of the bed (and Libby.) I like the pretty details on your Grandmother's chest .
ReplyDeleteJust lovely!! I have been wanting to paint mine and you have inspired me. My dad made mine for high school graduation and it is maple, but the paint is coming out!!
ReplyDeleteReally wonderful addition, adds interest and best yet, its Libby approved!

Beautiful Kris! I have an old cedar chest, much plainer, that I should paint. Thanks for the inspiration! OMG that fab headboard again!
ReplyDeleteI love the use of a bench or trunk at the foot of a bed. Yours looks great! That piece is not only pretty but functional too.
ReplyDeleteLove this function, and a place to sit when need be for dressing or storage.
ReplyDeleteWish I had room to do this is our smaller cottage bedrooms, I could do this I my daughters room but just to thight in mine unless I find one very narrow.
It's a great foot piece Kris, a piece to love, plus can't forget they make great coffee tables with winter throws stored at hand, and extra magazines and books this is what I had done for my coffee table, I used a chest of drawers because all sides are finished and a piece that can float in the center of a room and look finished on the back side. It stores all kinds of goodies.

Love that cedar chest and I LOVE that Libby can add to the chippyness of it! I did kind of the same thing when I painted my barstools...I purposely made them a little "worn" around the edges so when my boys "distressed" them with their "boy ways" you wouldn't be able to tell! Lol!
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty! You are the chippy queen! :) I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
This chest is just perfection in white! And how sweet that it was your granmothers! I love stuff like that ❤️

Love love love it! Such a beautiful piece to cherish! The all white bedroom is just dreamy!
ReplyDeleteThe chest is gorgeous! Did you add the wood appliques or were they already on it? Love the dollhouse sitting on it too. Libby is absolutely adorable - just look at that innocent looking face!
ReplyDeleteThis came out so nice....and I think it looks great where you put it! Thank you for sharing the to get it "chippy" tip. But, you know...your little bedsitter baby is the best! Have a good day! Leticia
ReplyDeleteLove your chest and Libby looks so cute and comfy on your bed!
ReplyDeleteKim

Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me! I inherited my Grandma's cedar chest too! I have it at the foot of our bed, but it REALLY
needs some TLC! Yours looks so beautiful......great job! I've got to do this too!
Thanks for sharing.
Kathleen
Love, love this makeover. Great solution with and for Libby. She's so cute on the bed
ReplyDeleteCindy
I love how it looks now! Like a fresh face or putting on a new dress!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasured family piece and I love the detail of it which the distressing really brings out...and Libby knows a beautiful comfy space when she sees one!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful at the foot of your bed! I wish we had room for one, but our house is on the small side.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! That Libby sure is a cutie and so is this chest! Looks great all painted and chipped up! I have one that I've considered painting too and my dogs use it as a step up to our bed too! I've thought about moving it, however. They'll get a little confused, but they an hop up on the bed without it. Chloe is like a jumping bean! She can jump at least 4 feet straight off the ground! She usually does this when we get home from somewhere. Anyway, the chest turned out beautifully and I'm so gad you're able to use it since it belonged to your grandmother!
ReplyDeleteKris, the chest is so lovely, chippy and precious. I'm sure you think of her every time you look at it. Your little furry friends looks so cute in all of those ruffles. Have a wonderful afternoon. :) Jo
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful piece and the way you distressed it brings out the details... Big plus that Libby finds it useful!
ReplyDeleteKris, that is so pretty. Love that it has the extra embellishments on it and the finish you got. Sweet little Libby, it looks like she might need another chest to get up on that chest and it is so nice that your master can accomodate at the end of the bed. Looks great..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Just the right amount of chippiness. Your doggy is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI think you're onto something, Kris! You better add Libby to your fabulous makeover team! Your cedar chest has found the perfect spot in your master bedroom at the foot of your bed and the chippy white finish fits in so well. Great storage spot, too!
ReplyDeleteLove it! And it looks perfect in your room!
ReplyDeleteI do love the re~love of your 'now' chippy cedar chest but that Abby is such a cutie! It's so nice of you (and wise) to give her a sweet step ladder to get up and down off the bed - not spoiled!!! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDelete""Libby"" What a ding dong I am!! LOL <3
DeleteIt looks fantastic!!! Great job as always!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that chest! What a wonderful style it has. I've never seen one like that. Looks perfect in your bedroom. Lucky Libby gets to enjoy it, too. :)
ReplyDeleteLibby looks quite at home in the bed. The chippy white chest is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteLibby looks so cute lying in your bed, Kris. She must have just waited for the chest to move in and it's perfect for your bedroom. It's wonderful that it is a family heirloom.
