Hello Sweet Blogging Friends.
So happy to be finally settling into the new JCC#4.
I know I have always been a very neutral mainly white decor kinda gal. Like everything in life there is always room for change.
I feel in this cottage style home there needs to be a lot of me and my signature white with a little bit of color added.
I know that seems shocking but we neutral girls can have some color in our lives too!
My slipcovers now are easily washable since can Buddy gets on them often. Whatever fabric I pick would have to be a washable fabric too. |
This is one of the inspiration fabrics I am thinking about. |
Also love this stripe white and light blue fabric. |

I love this stripe fabric on this loveseat. I have a similar floral fabric I am having made into drapes. You will see that below. |
source I like the stripe fabric on this slip cover for inspiration. |

This floral slipcover is so fabulous. Just have not found any upholstery fabric similar to this that I like. |
source |
I love the mix of the pattern and solid in this inspiration picture. |

I also am throwing around the idea of wallpaper like the stripe wallpaper in this picture and leaving the white slipcovers. |
Blue and white is such a classic combo ~ I love that you are open to that!!
ReplyDeleteLook at you go! You know I love color, so I'm all cheers over here. I've been working on a few redo's, as well, so I'm all about fabric right now. Fun post. I can't wait to see how it all evolves!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe floral loveseat just stopped my heart!!
ReplyDeleteLove the decision to do some color along with your neutrals. My fave of all the fabric is that wonderful stripe. that lumbar pillow is wonderful. I'd keep those fabulous white slipcovers and use some color to accessorize. can't wait to see what you use!
ReplyDeleteKris, What I like about the slip covers you have...it never goes out of style...You are not stuck with a color that you may grow tired of and you can change up throws and pillows and even drapes/curtains so easily. I do like the blue rose print. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie
ReplyDeleteBlue and white always a gorgeous combo.
ReplyDeleteLove it.
Ohhhh so many beautiful fabrics!!!! I don't know how you will ever decide?!?!?! I would probably add color with wallpaper and keep the white slipcovers for the simple reason that they can be bleached. Can't wait to see what you decide :o)

So glad you are settled in your new home and enjoying making it you. Can't wait to see what you decide.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Kris! I LOVE YOUR IDEAS HERE!
ReplyDeleteThat blue accent will surely give you much pleasure in both the summer and winter months! I love your idea of slipcovers because whenever you want, you can change them out. The throw is gorgeous with its almost "snowy" white and blue feel to it....and of course Buddy is appropriately "dressed" in his buff color! LOL!
HAVE A BLAST TODAY!
Love the combo of blue and white. Your floral fabric for drapes is oh so lovely.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week ~ FlowerLady
Ooohh yes!! You just can't go wrong with blue and white! I love all of the ideas you are throwing around...mixing the stripes and florals...YESSSS! Can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of bringing in some blue! You’ve selected some very nice options. Change is good and I know you’ll choose well!
ReplyDeleteOh Kris so many great choices and love the fabric you chose for the curtains.
ReplyDeleteWith Buddy being on the furniture and wet Chicago winters I wonder if safer bet. Wet paws happen and so d pi sick bellies.
I know you will pick something wonderful that works for you. Get what you love.
Hugs to you and Buddy.
Reeses and Peanut say hi and Buddy enjoy your new yard.

Wow. You are so very talented with your cottages/and designs.. Love your blog..so nice. Thank you for sharing..I bet the wallpaper would look great. I always loved wallpaper but have none now..inspiration..thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue and white choices you've presented. I used to have a lot of blue and white, but now I've gone more to green.

Love the blue and white! One of my favorite color combinations. And stripes are my favorite pattern. I know whatever you decide, it will look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, I am so happy you are branching out. Your inspirations photos are lovely. Blue and white is so classic and perfect together. I cannot wait to see more. Happy week ahead. xo
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! First of all, I LOVE the fabric that you have chosen. I would choose the striped fabric to go with it. Maybe do those first and then take a decision where the wallpaper would look best. You might even decide not to do wallpaper, or very little of it - with it being a big change for you. As others have said, I love blue and white - I have quite a lot of blue and white china - Burleigh china being a particular favourite of mine. I was born about 16 miles from the factory. Looking forward to seeing your next reveal Kris. Hugs, Gilly x
ReplyDeleteHi Kris, what a nice and fun family vacation you all took and glad you had a good time away. It's so nice that you will be adding some blue colors into your house. I know it will look just beautiful and I'm looking forward to see more of what you do to the house.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and enjoy the week.

Keep the white slipcovers for now! Start with those pretty blue curtains, but don’t go cold turkey on the white furnishings. Maybe add some blue and white patterned pillows and throws, but I think giving up the white couches might be too much of a change. The blue furnishings are very lovely, but start slow in your great new home. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteKeep the white slips, and add your blues with pillows, wallpaper, and throws. Fabrics with prints don't always launder as well as the all white ones, plus you'd have to make sure they are color fast and not subject to bleeding or fading from bleach. Down the road if you change your mind, you won't have the expense of changing your sofas. Blue and white is charming and fresh and I love that you are considering it! On another note, I love Buddy, dachshunds are one of my favorite breeds and I have one myself. But they do suffer from back problems and shouldn't be allowed to jump on and off furniture. My little guy is in a back brace because I didn't listen to that advice. Have you considered having a cute ramp or set of steps for him to use in getting on or off the furniture? They can be a life changer for dogs with long backs. I can't tell you the pain my little dog suffered for weeks when he injured two discs in his back, fortunately he can still use his rear legs, many aren't so lucky. OK, off my soap box, but wanted you to be aware in case you weren't. Hope you enjoy your new home!
ReplyDeleteHi Crystal thanks for you sweet comment left. I do have little doggie steps that go up against the furniture and bed. They just are not in the pictures lol! My daughter has doxie's too and one of hers had major back issues and lost her use of her back legs and was in so much pain. So I am so careful with Buddy. He is still a puppy but I know it can happen at any time young or old. So I do have the steps. I was looking at those ramps too. Just not sure with him being partially blind if he would go down a ramp. He seems to like the steps. I hope seriously I can find wallpaper for the living room. That would be easier to change up in the future. If I do cover the loveseats with new slipcovers the material is all washable and I would still have my white ones for future. I like the white because it is a heavy denim and washes so great. Have a great day. Hope you come back to see this message. I see you are a noreply so I did not have a way to contact you back.
DeleteHugs,
Kris
Beautiful classic cottage combo, Kris. Personally I think your white slipcovers will look lovely with the beautiful floral draperies. Add pattern with pillows and throw. I love your rug! Looking forward to watching this room come together.
ReplyDeleteKris, it is all going to be so pretty. Blue and white is always a favorite and a good choice. Love the curtain fabric. Striped or checks will just be perfect with it. If you make new slipcovers, you will still have the white ones so will be fun to change every once in awhile. Can't wait to see what's up..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visits, Kris. Meant to tell you how pretty your rug is..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteoh...I LOVE the stripe paper on the upper walls!!! So cute! The blues and white look so fresh and crisp. With your décor, and the way your decorate, this new palette will be beautiful, Kris!! Have fun with this!

ReplyDeleteLooking so good! Are you leaving the outside blue? Love it. You need to text me your new address, ok?
ReplyDeleteI know you will make whatever you do look fabulous! Love blue and white- it is so calming to me---and in a place your size if you get tired of it -it can be changed pretty easily without having a huge project on your hands. Can't wait to see what you do. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! I think we all go through 'design' changes in our lifetimes lol. I look back on what I started with and how my style and tastes have evolved and changed through the years. I kind of go back and forth between color and neutral, minimalist and 'chachki' haha! The nice thing is with paint, fabric and wallpaper, it's easy to change it all up! I really like that wide blue stripe sofa but the florals speak to me too!
ReplyDeleteWow! What exciting choices! I just love the stripes and floral prints together with all the white. Your current look is dreamy!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with these blue touches you showed! That blue rug in front of Buddy's sofa is gorgeous. I think I've really lost my heart to that slipcovered sofa that is intensely blue with the white flowers. And don't those green plants and the green basket in the picture really add a zing to it!
ReplyDeleteSounds like JCC4 has a color vibe. I loved the first blue and white strip fabric. Almost like french ticking. I can't wait to see what you do with your new home!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris! I love the blue - still do fresh and peaceful. Looking forward to all your beautiful ideas for your new home. Jane
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe that you are going with blue - I love all your inspiration pics!!!
ReplyDeleteBLUE is my favorite color!!! I love all the inspiration you shared.
ReplyDeleteHi Buddy!
I adore the floral slipcover!!!!!!!!! Love seeing you add blues, go for more!
ReplyDeleteLove any blue with white...always a winner. Remember that white room with blue striped rug from the Something's Got To Give movie?
ReplyDeleteWowzer; Some beautiful choices! I do love accents of blue with white. (go with your heart <3 : ) And the mix of check, floral and stripe is always gorgeous! Love to stop in your blog Chris~ karen o
ReplyDeleteI love all of the blue colors! They will look gorgeous! The great thing about having white as a background color is that you can put any other color with it and change them out as you see fit! It's so versatile! Those blues will give a little coastal vibe to your home! Love and hugs!
ReplyDeletei like the blues...especially loving that blue and white stripe sofa
ReplyDeleteBlue and white look so good together. Fresh and crisp! LOVE what you are coming up with!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to see that you are adding color to your cottage! The blue and whites are just gorgeous.. those curtains are wonderful! I love the wallpaper with the lighter blue stripes too.... that with the white slipcovers and other blue accents would be stunning.. but whatever YOU decide I know will be just awesome. The blue print rug and throw are especially wonderful.. and even the blue flowered slipcovers, knowing you could change out to white over the winter months to add some touches of either Fall colors or reds and/or pinks for Christmas! How fun! Glad all is going well with your move to JCC#4! Hugs.. Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThe bathroom looks fabulous! Are you planning on selling the current shower curtain when you get your new one? My 89 year old mom lives with me and she is very tired of her current shower curtain and she loves blue and white. I would love to surprise her with the one you have now. She would love it. Please let me know. My email is cjb27827@att.net. Thanks!
