Living Room Switch Ups and Fall Angels

Happy Friday Everyone.

You know how one thing leads to another!!! Right?

I took down the headboard off the wall in my living room and it started a whole switch a roo!

This was the iron headboard hanging on the wall.  I liked it but it just was not really what I wanted on that wall.  Plus there were some other changes happening with that couch.
So.....

This is now on that wall.

I had these old corbels and I asked Terry if he could make them into lights for the wall in the living room.
We do not have a lot of lamp space so these worked out beautifully.

My little house sign and corbel lamps now hang where the door and shutters use to be.

Sorry but another cloudy gloomy day with no sunshine for a good picture.

I really like how these came out.

This is how the corner of my living room looked.  I hated that bay window and corner being blocked by Terry's recliner.

This corner is now open again.
No recliner blocking that corner.

I will show you in my next post how I solved keeping a recliner for Terry and opening up this space.

The bay window allows a lot of sunshine and light into my living room.
Today not so much with the cloudy day!

My little bird cage sitting on the bay window shelf.

I started some fall pumpkins around the house.
We are finally getting fall weather here in Illinois.

If you look closely in this picture you might see what some of my solution is for opening up the corner bay window!!

I will have that in the next post.

This is my fall angel Gertie.

I have had her for a number of years.  Going back to my primitive decor years actually.

Every year I embellish her with new fall flowers and hang her on my front door.
She has held up so well.

She is over 15 years old and you can see how she has held up beautifully to the outdoor elements.

I bought this Gertie on line to make pretty to gift to a friend.
I had looked for another angel like mine for a long time and could never find one.
This popped up in a pinterest search one afternoon.
After she arrived.   I embellished her with some flowers and pumpkins.

Their dresses have heavy poly applied to them so they can hang outdoors or in.

My friend loved her new Gertie that is similar to mine.

I will be back with my new living room
switch a roo soon.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Kris

  7. Love the corbel sconces! The bay window is a nice feature in the room and I agree it is nice to not block it. Can't wait to see the other part of the change roe. Kris you are always busy doing something. I think you must have some fun dreams scheming what to do next in your décor.

  8. KRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, how in THEE SAM HILL did Terry make these lights???? Did he drill a hole into the corbels and run the wire through them? What a gorgeous idea and your bay window area is perfection. A space like that needs it's own breathing room and I love your view out to that tudor house across the street. I love this little cottage for you.

  11. I love your style but have always been curious about one thing. I hope you don't mind if I ask about the swag of flowers that you have on the curtain rod. Is it there to add a bit of privacy from the road without blocking your view or is it decorative? Please know that I'm not critiquing . Just curious. Love the sconces your Terry made for you. What a treasure he is!

  12. Well, looks to me like both of you have a new recliner or at least a chair. I know about men and recliners. Now with my various ailments I need one too. I love the blue and white. So feminine and charming!

  17. It is nice to have those corner windows unblocked and I'm sure whatever solution you came up with that your husband is still very comfortable when relaxing. Not that I can picture either of you relaxing very often! I love old corbels too and you came up with a wonderful use for them!

  20. Oh the light idea, Kris, I love it. I love little lamps. At the cabin we stayed at there was a little lamp in the kitchen on the wall, I just loved it.
What a great idea, I am going to share this with Jeremy too.

  21. Oh Kris! I LOVE the changes, all of them! At first I was sad to see that headboard being removed - but then all became clear! The new additions are all beautiful! Love those lamps and that sign has the most wonderful saying!
I just knew that Terry's recliner was not going to stay in that corner! Now that it has been opened up it is a wonderful feature - no wonder you wanted to do that. I can see the hint of some other changes on one of the photos too. Hugs, Gilly x

  22. Those corbels are beautiful and practical, and I’m so glad the recliner is removed (although I knew it wouldn’t stay there lol). It looks like a couple of recliners have taken its place, and now you have me wondering what you did with that cute loveseat! The suspense is killing me!!
