This was my Christmas wreath and I had angel wings and a winter bird and nest on this for Christmas. For a winter look I just added the skates and some greens and the bird and nest. I feel I can keep this up until I need a Spring wreath. |
|
This was my old couch. Down filled and white slipcovered. Very comfy and nice but way too much to wash all the time. I love the slipcover look but I get tired of washing them so much with having a dog. |
Oh my gosh I loved seeing the sunshine today. We have been days without sun and it has been cold and snowy.
Ok on to the changes! One was the new table and chairs as you see in this picture. I love having this little spot to sit at a table to eat or work on a project.
|
The next change up lead to me selling the white slipcovered sofa and getting this great sectional. It is made in performance fabric that holds up to spills, dirt and doggies lol! Damp cloth and it cleans like a dream. No more slipcovers in the wash. |
|
I searched for a long time to find a sectional with just the one chair and loveseat combo. This fits perfectly in the space. Now I need a new rug for under the coffee table and in front of the sectional. The hunt is on! |
|
I got these Ugg pillows and throw for Christmas. Hard to tell in the pics but they are a light cream and the sectional is actually a light ivory. |
|
I love this ugg throw. It is soft and warm to lay on the sectional and watch TV at night. |
|
This little guy right here is why I need performance fabrics lol! |
|
He loves to sleep on the back of the couch cushion like a cat. He is the neighborhood watch so being up high on the back of the cushions gives him clear sight out to the neighborhood!
Not too much is new here at Junk Chic Cottage. Starting out the new year slow and steady. I am already dreaming of Spring and Summer. Have a great rest of the week and wonderful weekend. |
|
PS. I am thinking about doing something with the long rectangular inserts on my TV armoire. That Armoire needs a little something. I am not sure what yet but I am staring at it and thinking on it! That piece is so big and it needs a little something in that space to give it some character. Maybe wallpaper or some kind of architectural piece of chippiness added. Not sure but I will figure it out and show you that soon. |
I love the changes, the table and chairs and the sectional make such a perfect room.
ReplyDeleteThat new sectional sure looks calming..thats what I surely need. :0).. Pretty. My Cocker Spaniel sleeps on the back of our loveseat(leather)..I keep a soft throw up there for her..but she is sure squishing the seats..oh, well..doggies rule and so worth it.!! :0) .. Your floors look pretty, too. Thanks for sharing..keep warm in that new throw. !!
ReplyDeleteI can hear your wheels turning in your head, Kris!! knowing you, whatever you come up with for the armoire will be wonderful. The sofa is gorgeous, and I can imagine how much better the performance fabric cleans up. Love the wreath with the skates, just perfect for winter! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove your winter wreath!!!! Your new sectional looks so beautiful and fits the space perfectly. Give that little cutie pie a kiss for me!!!

Really enjoy reading your blog. That sectional is beautiful and is terrific for cleaning. I have two white (slip covered) chairs that are very comfy. They get dirty so I bought an additional set of covers so I'd always have clean ones at hand. The thing is the laundered ones always need a good starching and ironing. I'd rather have the chairs covered in a fabric that was easy to spot clean.
ReplyDeleteI really like your TV armoire. Looking forward to seeing how you change the look. Patty McDonald
Love the style of the new sectional!
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying sunshine also, after weeks of valley fog, but we surely would welcome some rain. It's looking like we are yet again in a drought. Our poor farmers need the rain to keep our valley profitable.
The little table is a nice addition and such a sunny spot.
My dog always sleeps on the back of mt couch cushion too . He is watching the neighbourhood!
ReplyDeleteLove white ! Mine is beige but I protect it because of the dog.
I love your decoration.
Have a nice day
KRIS! Once again, your hunting skills have passed the test of endurance and you found the right sectional. It looks gorgeous and it seems to make the room appear bigger? Am I right? You seem to have more room and that table and chairs are in the perfect spot. You have a great vantage point from which to draw inspiration during the SPRING and summer months as you watch your flowers dance and sway to the gentle, warm breezes. And Buddy..OMG he is the neighborhood patrol captain! He has found his perch so comfy.....
ReplyDeleteKris, now I really like this! I would get a rug and then decide if you still want to do anything to the armoire. The rugh might satisfy you. Love the wreath on the door, too! We had a sectional much like that one, but it was broken into what became one slipper chair, two end chairs, and the corner piece. I made the slipper separate and the two end pieces a loveseat, and the corner sat in our basement, lol. Good start to the new year!
ReplyDeleteI love the changes! And how nice to see a shot of the whole room with the sunlight streaming in. That was the one thing that got me with our snow-how colorless the world was- just white, grey and shadows! I could handle the couple of days we had but was happy when the sun returned along with the colors! Your wreath is perfect for the rest of winter too. Buddy looks happy and content on his perch looking over his domain, lol. I think the sectional fits the space perfectly. Can't wait to see what you come up with for the armoire.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cecilia
It all looks so nice, crisp and just sweet Kris. Loving that wreath. Oh I love that throw. But then I like throws and blankets. Marty and I each have a blanket in our recliners to toss on at night while watching television. Just something about a nice warm blanket on a cool night to me. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteSo peaceful and relaxing! Just looking at your pictures always provides comfort to me. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the look! Makes me want to re-do my home
ReplyDeleteYour little "neighborhood patrol" is so cute and he matches your furniture. Love the sectional and I can see why you chose a more durable (cleanable) fabric. Our Chihuahuas have their own chair in the kitchen dining area and they seldom get on our sofa on their own. Enjoy the sunshine! Supposed to be in the 40's here. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove your changes! My couch, which I got two years ago, is actually made of recycled plastic bags. Spills come right up.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
You officially should be called the 'couch lady'...This definitely looks like a solution. We are still hunting for a couch(es) replacement after living with ours for 30 years...one went to my friend with two dogs and replaced with two chairs and the existing loveseat--which isn't big enough. Furniture now a days is so huge...and just not scaled for smaller homes. The hunt goes on. And, your sunfilled room is always lovely no matter what you have in it...! Hugs, Sandi
ReplyDeleteLove the sectional and the new table. Have you thought of maybe filling those inserts with the printable wallpaper that looks like the old ceiling tiles? Just a thought. Could still be white but some texture. Whatever you do will be great. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your new sectional. It fits perfectly & it will be so nice not to have to do laundry all the time ! The new table & chairs look great as well. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the armoire. Today is sunny here as well. Winter is easier to take when there’s a little sunshine. Little Buddy is just the cutest ever !

ReplyDeleteLove the skates on the wreath and your new couch is perfect!
ReplyDeleteYour new sectional is beautiful and I am sure it is was more practical with your sweet dog. January will be over before we know it. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteDo you have a source for the sectional? Love it!

ReplyDeleteDo you have a source for the sectional? Love it!
ReplyDeleteYes it is Pottery Barn.
DeleteI'll just repeat what everyone else said - the sectional looks perfect and it does seem to make the room look larger! those pillows and throw look so cozy and warm. I too love throws and there is one on every chair and the loveseat in our living room, as our 3 cats each have their own sleeping spot.. that way I can just wash their "bed" now and then.. and if company comes, I just wisk everything off and pile it in our bedroom! I like the look off quilts on things, so our loveseat has a quilt on it. Our kitties, all 3, love laying on the back of our loveseat so they can look out the window, so the loveseat is really THEIR chair! My tall armoire has quilts stacked on top and that's our Maddie's bed. I love that Buddy has his spot that he feels good in, so he can survey everything. And your table and chairs with the sun streaming in with those beautiful blue curtains was such a pretty setting! The winter sun sure does brighten up one's mood! xoxo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteHe is so handsome and has such a noble face! That is a great looking sectional! Well done in finding it. I love that sunshiny corner by the window, such a pretty place to sit at a table.
ReplyDeleteHi Kris!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the new sectional it looks so comfy. But I must say your table and chairs by the window certainly look inviting on either a snowy or sunny day! Wonderfully creative job as usual.

Wow great choice on the sofa. It fits in nicely and is a good size!

The sofa looks lovely, in fact, everything in this room is so pretty. I know you will figure out the best option for your large armoire. A rug would be wonderful. Buddy looks so cute. Good luck with the hunt. Xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, I love it all...I'll take one of everything!! Including the pup. He really is so sweet and looks adorable perched on the back of that sofa. Can't wait to see what you do with the armoire doors. You always keep us on our toes! xxoo
ReplyDeleteLove your choice of sectional and I really love that corner with the table and chairs. So pretty! Wish I could figure out what to do with the furniture in my living room to make the whole thing work together better. Some day! Have a happy weekend Kris! xoxo

ReplyDeleteI just love the look of your wreath with its new little skates. They're darling and I love the lower swoop of the pine. What a lovely welcome.
ReplyDeleteKris, I love the sunshine corner of that room. I am like your doggie , I want to see what is happening outside. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteHi Kris,
ReplyDeleteLove your new sofa, so pretty and looks perfect in your room. Hope you find a rug you really love to go in there. The skates looks so neat on your wreath, very Wintery looking....Love the pic with the sun streaming in the room.....so warm and cozy looking. Thanks for your visits, haven't gotten around to answering anything yet. lol......Hope you have a really lovely weekend. Blessings and Hugs, Nellie
Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteLove, love the skates on the front door. So cozy and welcoming.
The new sectional is pretty and I was so happy to see Buddy.
Sorry for being behind. I had to call my friends to try and rush my COVID vaccine.
My MS doctor put my next infusion on hold because he wanted the vaccine in my system first.
I have amazing friends who made it happen yesterday.
Today I am resting because the nurses said I may be a bit weak and tired . So resting and Tylenol is the agenda today.
We have been cloud covered too.
Cindy
You are the queen of changes! Would you please come over and change out my living room rug and curtains? :-) I am so indecisive and have a hard time finding things. You are so good at that - and quick! I love your new sectional. It is perfect for your living room. Is this the same PB sectional that you had tried at your previous house? Hope you're having a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Kris,
ReplyDeleteAlways a joy to visit you and see what neat projects you have going on. Your home is truly a light infused sanctuary of joy.
This is wreath is wonderful. I loved to ice skate as a kid.
Hugs and blessings,
Jemma
I'm loving that sectional, Kris! We have one in our family room and we've never regretted it. Buddy is beyond adorable! Can't wait to see what you add to that fabulous armoire:) xo Kathleen
ReplyDeleteI love the sectional and dining area. Everything is just the right size for the space! I like your little wreath, too. The sun FINALLY came out here. I have been outside most of the day trying to get a little Vitamin D!
ReplyDeleteDear Kris: Oh, that looks so good! Love the sectional and it makes so much sense. I would forget to eat sitting at your pretty dining situation. I have taken all my winter down inside and this morning there was a fresh coat of snow outside. So pretty for now!!..Stay well..xxoJudy
