Random Acts of Kindness because Kindness Matters

Let me start by sharing this quote from the Dalai Lama.

Compassionate kindness is the most precious thing there is.  It is something that only we human beings can develop.  And if we have a good heart, a warm heart, warm feelings, we will be happy and satisfied ourselves, and others will experience a friendly and peaceful atmosphere.

This is a beautiful quote.
I feel too that kindness is one of the most precious gifts we can share with one another.  It costs nothing and is readily available at anytime for us to share.

I try each day to share a little kindness in some way.  Whether is is as simple as letting the person behind you in the grocery store line go before you because they only have one or two items and you have half a cart full.

I also like to do random acts of kindness throughout the year.

Most of the time they cost nothing and come from my heart.

Sending a card to someone that will least expect it. Wishing them a good day and telling them you were thinking about them is a small gesture for me but a big uplifting kindness to them .

Random Acts of Kindness give so much to someone else but it also comes back to give you so much more.

We all give of ourselves everyday in many ways.

We naturally share comfort and care when things arise in our lives,  but sharing kindness daily is good for the soul.

Kindness shared is the best gift you can give to others and yourself.

I hope after reading this you will find a spot in your day to share a smile, give a hug or say some nice words to someone.  You will see the smile, the hug or the thank you given back will change their day and yours.

I am starting to put together random acts of kindness.  I plan on mailing some unexpected little gifts to people I know that could use the help and might need a little cheer.
With Everything going on in this world that is not kind I think we can remind each other that there is still love during these hard times.

Hope you celebrate Random Acts of Kindness throughout the year but especially now as the holiday season is upon us.

Have a great week.
xoxo
Kris

  1. Happy November Kris, I do agree with all that you shared. I try to do the same everyday. In the summer I gift many bouquets to people, and I just love how the gift of flowers makes people smile.

  2. You've talked about this before and it's a message worth repeating! I agree that it doesn't take much to make someone's day. It doesn't even have to be something mailed to someone; sometimes all it takes is a smile at a stranger in passing, a genuine compliment to someone in the grocery line ("I like your hat!"), letting a car out in front of you in busy traffic. This past weekend, we were in a candy store and two young male teens were in there. I heard one say to the other too bad we don't have any money, so I offered to buy them something. They were shocked and kept saying, "Are you sure?" I said, "Of course - pick something out!" They each picked out something and thanked us many times. I told Brian when we left the store that all I could hope was that these young people realized that nice people still exist, and/or that they pay the kindness forward.

  5. I agree, Kris. Sometimes that random act of kindness is just greeting someone with a smile and hello when it looks like they are stressed out. I, like you, try to do random little acts every day. YOU are one of the kindest people I know---and also one of the funniest/crazy people---which is why we get on so well---lol

Beautiful post and I hope everyone that reads it-takes it to heart. Love you, my friend- xo Diana

  6. I love this post! Kindness is something we can give for free, anytime and anyplace. I know that whenever someone shows a little kindness, like opening a door, or helping to pick up something I have dropped, it just reaffirms to me that the world is full of good people. It makes me feel so good to pass kindness on. Thank you for sharing this sweet reminder. x K

  7. Very sweet, Kris. And totally appropriate for the season. I know that since Covid, I have been particularly attentive and friendly to seniors when out shopping, helping or just a smile or kind comment. I'm always greeted back with a big smile, and usually a bit of conversation---we all know what deprivation can do...and sharing a smile, a convo, or helping with bags or purchases is just so rewarding. Wonderful post, Sandi

  8. Morning Kris, I could not agree with you more. It really doesn't take much for us to make others feel loved or that they are special. I do the same as you, it's a daily thing. I get up every morning and ask the Lord who he wants me to bless with a card, or a phone call, and when we go out we are purposeful in looking for people to be warm and friendly too, or to make a kind remark too, or open a door, are let them go ahead in line, like you said, and always compliment our servers on what a good job they do. It makes others happy and makes us feel purposeful and happy as well.
Cause as you say if we ever needed kindness.....it is in the world we are living in today. We have seen when we go out it seems that there are others working to do kind things as well...............so that is very encouraging to me. Kindness is loving on people and God definitely approves of that...........
    Love and Blessings,
    Nellie

  9. Kris, I love this post you do every year and you are such a kind person. This is a great time of year for random acts of kindness. I try to help out my neighbors with taking in their mail/packages, taking care of their pets, etc. I try to give change to the homeless people if I'm in the city, or holding doors open and so on. I hope you enjoy the rest of the week.

  10. What a great reminder post. Love your post and all of the comments above. I think kindness is embeddied alot in our personalities and the World at times can work on that, though. Thank you for the reminder to live our lives in spreading kindness..the way we much love to be treated. The Bible verse, "Do unto others" comes to mind. I think at this Season we very much remember how blessed we are and may be and think about all of the gratitude and hopefully we can pass our blessings on to others who may not be blessed. Thank you all for the gentle hints and reminders to bless others.

  12. Kris, my girls still call you the present fairy...and they're not wrong! I too try to do little things, even if it's just a hello to a stranger, holding the door, asking a friend if they need something...It brightens my day and hopefully theirs as well!!

  13. Kris, I was so happy to see your post! I, too, try to show kindness from complimenting a stranger to sending cards to friends and family for no special occasion. The thing about random acts of kindness is that it gives me happiness, too!

  15. Kris, I don't know why, but it is the 12th, and I'm just now receiving this in my email. You are one of the kindest, most giving people I know, and I love how you do this. It's unbelievable to me how much hatred there is in this world of ours, both within and outside our borders. Thanks for being a bright light.

  16. It takes so little to give kindness to someone. Who knows, that may just make their day. It is even more important for those little act of kindness in this day and age.

  19. Beautifully said! I'm home alone since losing my Husband and my Sister takes me shopping and run errands every Friday. It's sad to say but people are so busy they will run you right over and often rude that I'm too slow. I'm sad to say it brings me to tears when I see kindness. It shouldn't be that way, kindness should be the normal and rudeness the exception. I've taken to asking the cashier their favorite candy bar and buy it, or pay for a candy bar for the person behind me, but not telling them. People smile generally if you tell them their rainbow hair is gorgeous... even the men. So even if my world isn't very kind, i can share it and that makes me happy. Kill them with kindness is what my Mom always said, and I'm gonna keep living it. Thank you Kris for sharing this... I needed it! ❤️

  21. Kris, there's a verse in the Bible that says "those who bless others will themselves be blessed." I've found this to be very true. I received a random act of kindness from a young woman on Monday. It was my day off and I had taken my car in for service. On the way home I stopped at Subway to get a sandwich to take home for lunch. The young lady in front of me asked if all I was getting was a sandwich. I said, "Yes," and she told the cashier that she wanted to pay for my sandwich, as well. I was so surprised, and it blessed me so much. Of course, I thanked her and she gave me a big smile. I think she brightened both our days, and the two girls working behind the counter, as well. It was very special. Hugs.
