This is my bathroom before picture when we moved into our town home. The bathroom was outdated and the tub was so high that you had to really step over to get into the shower. Since we now live in a 55 and older community I wanted to take out the bath tub and have a walk out shower put in. Since we only have one bathroom I needed this work to be done in one day. My friend used Bathfitters and was very pleased with their work. We have used them in our Wheaton home a few years back and loved their work. Out of all the estimates they had the best price and best reviews. Since my friend loved them and was pleased with her bath redo we had them do ours. To make this post clear only the bath tub and shower were done in one day. The painting and door changes and cabinet painted and new counters were done when we moved in. |
Gorgeous, Kris!! What an amazing makeover and in just one day? That is a marvel. I think you did a great job with your design and your team did a fabulous job with the construction. And quick! I can't wait to see your Found Cottage Christmas post. They always have the most beautiful thing. xo
ReplyDeleteThe makeover is absolutely gorgeous! That is amazing that the contractors can do all that work in one day. I agree that a shower curtain is much nicer than the glass doors. While glass doors can look nice, they are hard to keep clean. Funny...my mom is 85 years old and never takes a shower. She uses her bathtub to take a bath every day! We have two bathrooms: one with just a small freestanding shower (our master bath) and the main bathroom with the shower-tub combo. We are going to keep it that way because we like both showers and baths. Brian actually relaxes in the tub more than I do! (His little self-care on his days off.) I like taking long, hot, soaking baths in the winter when I'm cold.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that you accomplished this in one day. It's gorgeous! It went from very ordinary to charmingly romantic.
ReplyDeleteKris - what a transformation! So you and just beautiful. Great job. Judy Clark
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful but the bath looked so much bigger than the shower tray did you fill in the space
ReplyDeleteNo it is the same size. Probably the angle of the picture makes it look different in size.
DeleteI love your shower. The shower curtain is beautiful. I don't have a bath that uses shower curtains now, but I've held onto a couple shower curtains I loved in our former home. I always kept a stock of liners, lol. We just had our shower recaulked. Not only is glass hard to clean, but the caulking gets gross where the glass meets tile at the base, even with scrubbing. That's where we were.
ReplyDeleteI just love your before and after! The bathroom is just beautiful and practical which is so hard to do. Can’t wait to see some more posts. Margy in KY
ReplyDeletebeautiful new shower, it looks great. I think this is a great decision too.
ReplyDeleteWhen the curtain is closed is the shower kind of dark? perhaps you could get a small spot light installed, so it is bright in there. I agree glass is very tedious and difficult to clean, additionally shower curtains are prettier!
Just a tip for those with glass: make a small mixture of vinegar and dawn dish soap and apply it with a scrubby sponge. I used to do this in the old house all the time and after 35 years, our shower doors look new! I agree the glass is a huge upkeep.
Happy Fall Teri.
We used Bathfitters here in Canada over 20 years ago and our tub and tile still looks just like new. Also done in one day. They are a great company to work with and also the best prices. Love your new bathroom.
ReplyDeleteKris, fabulous bathroom makeover. I love a walk-in shower. We took out a tub-shower unit in a guest bathroom and replaced with a truly walk-in shower with tile. No lip .We added a glass divider with a wavy design at the top. Mine is not difficult to clean. Looking forward to seeing your treasures. xo
ReplyDeleteHello, it is lovey. I love the white. I do like the idea of having a shower curtain. You have created a beautiful bathroom. Well done as always my friend.

That's a brilliant transformation Kris! You must be so pleased and it will be so much easier to use - not to mention safer! Looking forward to seeing your next post about the Christmas Market. Hugs, Gilly (UK)
ReplyDeleteThe bathroom re-do looks great Kris. It's amazing that all of the construction was able to be done in one day - so fast! I love your new shower curtain too. I can't wait to see your post on the market and your finds. Enjoy the rest of the week. :D
ReplyDeleteHow did you create the gorgeous bathroom mirror? Did you replace the one that was there or did you build over it?
ReplyDeleteWe had a builder big un framed mirror in there. To take it out would have been a big job and having to put up new drywall. So we painted the mirror the same color as the walls and then framed it out with an old antique frame I had. My antique frame as a a little smaller than the big mirror attached to the wall so after we hung the antique frame we painted the showing mirror to blend with the wall. Hope that makes sense.
DeleteKris, what a beautiful bath update and all in one day! That is fabulous!! The curtain is perfect! We recently did a shower update and we were very pleased, ours took two days but we have other baths. I am so happy for y’all!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, Kris. The shower curtain is gorgeous and done in one day is amazing. I went for a curtain instead of doors when we put our shower in the guest bath. Have never regretted it, I have cleaned too many doors. Sure does look pretty..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation, Kris. They did a wonderful job on replacing the tub with the shower. We had the same issue - too high of a tub. So we did a shower also. Overall, your shower finishes out your very pretty bathroom. I bet you’re happy!

The rugs are nice but the chandelier is out of place in the bathroom, looks more like it should be in the dining room.
ReplyDeleteIt's a candle chandelier made for the bathroom. It is my style and I love it. It is obviously not something you would like in your bathroom but that's ok since you do not live here. Thanks for your visit. Have a great rest of the week. Hugs. Kris
DeleteOh Kris, what an exquisite makeover!! Thank you for all your references. The shower curtain is just so beautiful and of course your chandelier is perfection. Thank you for sharing your beautiful redo.
