I took these old chippy posts and framed out my kitchen window. It is so hard to get good pictures in this kitchen with the way the light comes into this room. |
I tried some angled shots to let you see the posts a little clearer. |
As some of you might have seen in my spring post I used this old chippy post on my mantel with a spring garden hat. |
These posts are framing the window in my office. My husband took some old door pieces he had and finished the top of the window and then added the posts to frame out this window. |
This pretty little chippy post we got at the flea market and my talented husband made it into a jewelry hanger for me. I love that he used old door knobs for the hangers. |
I even have posts out in the garden in the summer. This picture is from last year's garden can't wait to see flowers again. Looking out today all I see is 10 inches of snow. |

They are all very nice, but I really love the ones that make the curtains....that is a great idea. Wouldn't fit my style here, but I like it.
ReplyDeleteOMG love the posts and you gave me some wonderful ideas. I am not a white person though BUT I love it for someone else. I am more of a retro 50's & 60"'s colors.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. White is not for everyone. I love retro too. Very colorful and clean lines. I bet your home is beautiful.

looks just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteA post post! LOVE it, love them! So pretty and the angled shot works well. Gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteI love all your white things! What a great idea about the posts by the window. I don't have a big kitchen and precious-little space around my window, so I think your idea is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteChippy post envy going on here Kris. I especially luv the ones in the kitchen. The roosters as well :-)
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty!!
Enjoying a blustery day here in North Central Florida. How about you?
Hugs, Gee
Love the posts around your sink, Kris! They add some nice architectural interest and, of course, that white chippy goodness. : ) I also love your sink. I'm hoping to get something similar when we redo our countertops.
ReplyDeleteI love it. I also love your kitchen. How do you like living with butcher block counters?? Is that an IKEA sink? Does it scratch real easily or do you have to really be careful around it?? As you can tell a new kitchen is in my future so doing research now.
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie,
DeleteI hope you got my email but if not. I love both the counter tops and the sink from Ikea. You can cut on the counter if you want. I do not but they can be used just like a cutting board. I put food prep oil on them about every 6 months to keep them from looking dry. I just like the way the oil soaks in and makes the wood look. The sink is deep and does not stain or chip so I love that. I am currently looking for a farmhouse faucet. We did all of the counters ourselves and saved a lot of money doing it that way. It was a fraction of what Home Depot or Lowe's wanted to put them in. We did our whole kitchen for less than $500 for the counters and they come in 6 foot pieces so very easy to cut and fit. I highly recommend Ikea for the butcher block tops. I have had both the sink and the counters for over two years and love them. Have a great rest of the week.
Kris
I love your kitchen AND your posts for your post!;>) Great post today- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh, this is so cute! I love your chippy little posts and your kitchen window looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hi Shelia,
DeleteThanks so much. I love anything chippy and old.
Kris
What a great way to ad architectural interest to plain windows! I love this idea! My windows don't have any trim around them, so this would be a fun solution! Girl, you are always so clever! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteIt would be a great solution and very easy I have to say!!! My best ideas happen in the middle of the night when I can't sleep!!!
DeleteKris
i'm gonna have your whole house pinned:) oh, i kinda do, in my house tours folder! those post on the sink are perfect, kris. i'd like to hear the pros and cons of the ikea sink and counter tops sometime, too:)
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn,
DeleteI got this kitchen sink at Ikea about 2 years ago and I love it. It does not stain or chip and it is really deep. I have been looking for a new faucet I just have not found one I like yet. I am looking for farmhouse with the sprayer on the neck!!! I am sure that won't be too hard to find!!!! The counter tops are from Ikea too and were so much cheaper to get and put in ourselves. It was about $400 to do the whole kitchen as a posed to Home Depot or Lowes charging $3800 to put them in. They come in 6 foot pieces to very easy to lay out and cut. I use a wood oil about every 4 to 6 months on it to keep it from looking dry. You can even cut or prepare food on it but I don't but you can. It was a pretty inexpensive way to do the counters and sink and save a lot of money. Hope that helps.
Kris
Love all your posts, you have great style and know how to use unique pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Dawn. I love anything old and chippy.

LOVING your chippy posts and all the different ways you've repurposed them! I think I've met my match with using architectural elements throughout the home...and that would be you. I think you're ahead of me. :-))))
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Mary Alice,
DeleteGood Morning. I don't think you have to worry about me and the chippies!!! I think you have me beat on that one. I am like you though and love to take those old chippy pieces of history and make them part of my decor. Have a great day.
Kris
I spied those roos from a mile away. Looks so lovely Kris.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
DeleteI love those little roosters too. They just make me smile!!! Hope all is good and you are havin a great day.
Kris
Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteLove the chippy white posts!! They look great on either side of the window...and I love your sink. I was torned between getting a white farmhouse sink or the stainless steel one. I really like how you have used all of your posts in different rooms of your home.
We've got snow here too... 5 inches. It sure did look pretty outside today, but I'm so ready for Spring!
hugs,
Cindy
I can't wait for flowers too! Love how you framed the windows, such a neat idea !
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I love to use the old chippy posts where ever I can. Love those little chippy things!!!! Have a great day.
DeleteKris
I think the very first post I ever saw on your site featured a post I went crazy for... I want them in every room! I wish I was married to a Mr. Handyman... sadly no handy in my man! We finally dug out of our 12" of snow and now they are talking rain in a couple of days... go figure!
ReplyDeletePendra,
DeleteYou are the sweetest. I am so lucky to have that handyman in my life to make my visions come true. Without him I am not sure how much of the creative visions would take place. Hope you are having a great day.
Kris
I love your use of posts..they look great! I also love your white roosters in your kitchen--those are so cute. Your kitchen is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSandy,
DeleteYou are the sweetest. Thanks for all your sweet comments always. I do love those cute little roosters too. I guess you need farm animals in a farmhouse kitchen!!!!! Have a wonderful day.
Kris
I love the window!
ReplyDeleteHi Kris. Love the use of the posts. You've got a great collection of them. That is the cutest garden hat. I might steal your idea for one of my old hats. Everything looks so pretty..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteHi Judy,
DeleteSteal away. I love garden hats and have a few of them around my house. Thanks for coming by.
Kris
Hi, Kris... I'm just drooling at all the photos! Each one is just perfection! I really can't pick out a favorite but I will say I was charmed with the post your husband turned into a jewelry hanger. It's the clock resting on top that tickled me!
ReplyDeleteHi Kadee,
DeleteI had that clock and never knew where to put it so I plopped it onto the top of that post!!!! I do love that jewelry hanger. Keeps my necklaces from tangling up. Have a great day.
Kris
My favorite is the kitchen window, I love how it looks into the other room , or sun room?
ReplyDeleteI found your on From My Front Porch to Yours

ReplyDeleteThey're gorgeous - and your styling is just perfection - love coming by to see what you've been up to!!!
Imagine what YOU could do to that little farmhouse I'm coveting?
Hugs,
Suzan
Love your 'posts'! lol
ReplyDeleteMy DH made me a scarf and necklace hanger last Christmas. He made it out of a birdcage and crystal drawer knobs. I should get a photo on my poor, neglected blog so you could see it.
I was looking at your reply about your kitchen sink. Is it really easy to care for? I would love one, but I am NOT a good housekeeper. But seeing your answer is making me think differently. Our kitchen remodel is about half done. I bought the appliances recently, they really make the kitchen look dark. So I am counting on adding lots more white.
*Think Spring*
Pamela
LOVE all your posts, Kris! Especially the ones framing the kitchen window-so clever and pretty!
ReplyDeleteSusan

I need to find a post. I found a post once when Steve was with me and we were in his little car - no space. It was a chippy red post and I have no idea what I would have done with it. Of course, when I went back when he wasn't with me it was gone. One day I will find one and try wome of your ideas.
ReplyDeleteI love your posts around your window. So pretty. I would love to have a window over my kitchen sink. Everything is just lovely..
ReplyDeleteYou have so many charming ideas on how to use these wonderful old posts...I love all of them.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda

Wow, such creativity! All of the post ideas are fantastic, but my favorite has to be the ones around the kitchen window -- so very clever! I adore the chippy roosters, too!
