Good Sunday Morning.  I went to the Kane County Flea Market yesterday.  It was the first of the season.  They are held the first Saturday and Sunday of each month starting in March and going through November.

There were not a lot of vendors with this first show of the season with it still being cold and snowy here in Chicago.  The vendors were inside the barns and buildings and only one brave vendor outside.

I did not score a lot of treasures but I did get a couple of things to share.  I did see a few of my fave vendors there.  It was just nice to get out and go to a flea market.  The sun was out and it was pretty mild to walk from the barns to the buildings.

I scored this vintage cast iron lamb mold. I loved that it was really heavy and old and chippy. I will find a cute display for this with my Easter decor.

I love that many lamb cakes were baked for many years in this old cast iron baking mold.  Lot's of history. Love that in these chippy pieces.

Then I got this cute ruffled runner for my table from Traci that has a shop called Whimsy in Morris Illinois and also sells at this flea market and on Etsy.  I love her vintage and pretty things.

I had this old vintage basket and added some flowers to go with my fresh flowers picket painted sign above my french door leading out to the deck. Now that I finished my mantel and a few more decor additions,  I feel like Spring is blooming a little bit around my house. I just need to work on my dining room table and buffet. I just hope the weather here will break in the next few weeks and we will have a milder Spring beginning soon.  I am so over winter!!!! Hope you are having a fantastic week end.

I love the lamb and the runner is really great. She actually lined the runner on the back with the ruffle material. It is so nice and Traci always has great prices.

  4. I hear so much about the Kane County flea. Sure wish I lived close enough to go. We used to live in Wheaton many years ago, but don't think it existed then. If it did I was too busy raising the kids I guess. Your little lamb is so sweet!

I got this fresh flowers sign a few years ago from a dear friend. I love that it hangs over my French doors going out to our deck and garden area. Have a great week.

  12. What an adorable lamb. I did not know that you could get such a thing in a cake mold. I used to collect sheep. Decor, clothing, jewelry, anything with a sheep or lamb on it except the real thing. I was once known as the "Sheep Lady". Even now when my friends see one they think of me. When my collection got to be in the hundreds, I decided that was enough! Now I limit my collections to just a few select things, and no more sheep!

  13. The lamb is something else. I've never had a cake mold. It sure makes a nice addition to your table, especially with that cute new runner you picked up. I'm sorry Winter is droning on and on for you. We just finally got some Winter and I'm loving it. It was cold for us the past two days but it won't last. For now, we're enjoying every minute of it before we start sweating again.

  15. Hopefully winter will go "out like a lamb" - if it means what I think it means. We are already sunny and springy here.

I discovered that there will be a flea market on March 31 at our fairgrounds. I scored some great things last year so I am anxiously awaiting it.

I still don't have my Easter decorations out - still in the attic. I must get going.

    1. I am so jealous I want Spring so much. I am hoping in the next few weeks things will start to warm up around here. I think though they are predicting some more snow tomorrow and then maybe up in the 40's by the middle of the week. I hope so. Have a great week.

  16. Hi Kris, it is so nice to meet you. I found your blog through the Art and Sand blog. I couldn't believe it when I saw from your profile that you're in Lake Zurich. I'm only 15-20 min. from you in the little town of Lakemoor! Are you going to the Midwest blogger get-together than Jen Rizzo is hosting, by chance? It's on March 16th. I still don't know if I'm going yet or not.

You were very brave for going to the Kane Co. flea mkt. when it's so cold. I think I'll wait until May. :-)

  18. That sounds like a fun way to spend the day. I like the items you found. It was very cold and windy here today, but I was just thankful for the abundant sunshine. My husband and I worked out in the woods behind our house burning sticks in our burn barrel. The sun was therapy for me. It has been so gloomy outside lately and is due to rain again next week. Yuck! Spring can't get here fast enough for me!
