Here is my kitchen Redo. My 2014 blog resolution is to not spend any money on Redo's in my home and to repurpose things I already have into the new decor. I did just that in the new kitchen makeover.
I am really excited that this whole project. It was done with the only money spent on one can of paint and some new cabinet knobs I got at Hobby Lobby with a Christmas gift card.
I was able to remake a lot of what I had either into new pieces, which I love to repurpose or brought back things I had already into kitchen decor.
I have to give a big THANK YOU to my hubby that can take my creative crazy visions and make them realities!!! Without him I could not have all these changes. So thanks honey for you and your tools!!! XXXOOOO.
Rehung the same shelves and brought out an old chippy stool I had in one of the bedrooms. Looked french farmhouse for under the counter. |
I am so going to love this old ladder piece for a drying rack in the summer for flowers. |
Just added the feel of fresh farmhouse flowers in ironstone vases with some faux flowers. |
Old french cutting boards and measuring cups. |
Love these little old mason jars with vintage french silver ware I got from tattered tiques last year. It is these little touches that make me smile. |
My old french picnic basket I use for storage. |
I covered my counter chairs with the fabric that I made the sink skirt out of. |
That old vintage pantry door with the chalk board my girls gave me for Christmas. It fit perfectly on the pantry. Love that door. It is right next to my refrigerator and easy to make a grocery list. |
Just switched up the decor on my shelves that were already up in this part of the kitchen. You can see the chandy my hubby gave me as an early Valentines present. |
Love to use the old frames I had and repurpose them in this kitchen decor. I framed out the chandeliers and also my kitchen clock. |

Love it Love it Love it!!! Really nice transformation Kris. I like how you styled your shelves and even though you have lots of accents it does not come across as cluttered. I would leave the black accents behind the knobs; ties in with the black chalkboards and give a little somethin somethin extra you won't see everywhere (that's my 2 cents anyway.lol) I will be going back to look at this again and again. Didn't take you long at all to transform it either. Just beautiful - sincerely jeannette
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jeannette, I would leave the black plate behind the knob alone! The kitchen is beautiful :)
DeleteOh yea! Compliments to hubby for his part in this!lol
ReplyDeleteIt was real pretty to begin with, but I love the white! I think it works really well with your white collections!
ReplyDeleteWow! The white paint really opens it up. Even your ceilings look higher now. It turned out wonderful. I think it goes much better with your all white living room...I am guessing it probably all flows more peacefully. White makes everything feel so clean too! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kris! I'm so glad I stopped by today! Your kitchen is just sensational! And it is so YOU!! I love everything, the way you framed things out is so clever and the new way you have everything displayed along the long wall is so pretty! You and hubby did a great job, it looks clean, fresh and SO pretty! Good job!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Kris, it is so light and bright! I know you love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen. I really love the hutch. It looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Kris! Love the chandeliers! That little one over the sink is cute. Love your shelves with your white pieces, glad you kept them.
ReplyDeleteKris it is just gorgeous! Love the look with all the elegant chandeliers. Now that's a kitchen to get excited about!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
Hugs,
Patti
Kris it is so pretty, those chandys are . I also love the chalkboards they look great with the white.
ReplyDeleteMyself I'd paint the black metal part of the knobs, whatever you do it is fabulous!
Wow~~~Wow~~~Wow~~~soooo pretty! Looks like pictures from a Better Home and Garden magazine!! You are blessed to have a man that helps you in your renovations and sees your vision. I sure do like that chicken wire form with your french apron on it....how unique, to think that could have been used to make someone's dresses. Never thought that was what was used in the Old days. I liked both the old and new kitchen though. Now here is the question, how do you keep it so clean????? I always have dishes in the sink.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize what a difference the paint colors made until you posted the before photos! Your kitchen looks so bright and spacious and I love all the changes you've made! The framed clock is a cute idea! You're inspiring me to get busy and paint our kitchen....as soon as I finish some small projects I've got in the works. Well done, Kris!
ReplyDeleteAw, Kris- It is GORGEOUS! You did a wonderful job and I just LOVE it! I love the lighting, too. The area where you moved the dresser/hutch combo to looks great. I really like it a lot. I also think the whole kitchen looks a whole lot bigger somehow. It is bright and beautiful. The NICE thing about the knobs is that they DO pick up the black of your chalkboard and stovetop-etc. Okay- I am gonna leave you by saying- I LOVE THE WHOLE THING!!!! And I LOVE your hubby, too! He's the man!!!!! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful change. I like the chandy change and the white walls. I can't believe how fast you work.
ReplyDeleteOMG I love it, Kris! I really love it. That cabinet in the pass-thru - be still, my heart! Perfect for linens! And I think I like the black accents on the cabinet pulls, esp. when I look at the overall view. Can't wait to see the next domino fall in the LR. Relaxing a few days first, I hope?
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteJust AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteMy house could use your "touches"!!! I have CHOCOLATE!
Warmly,
deb
WOW!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Kris...your kitchen is just beautiful!
Going back so I don't miss a single detail, and I can't wait to see what you do next!
Kris, I wondered how your kitchen could get any better! It is! I totally love the wall! All of it really!
ReplyDeleteLUV!!! LUV!!! :) Just beautiful...
ReplyDeleteMy 2 cents .. I would leave the black iron work on the knobs. They stand out more, a nice contrast. Plus there is a lot of ironwork in French country. Just my 2 cents...
Once again.. LUV it! Best part.. only a few dollars spent. Those are the best redos.
Wow Kris, I don't know where to begin! Everything looks sooo beautiful! The chandy's, the decor you moved around, things taken down, new things put up, This just goes to show that you don't need to pour a lot of money into a redo to make it fabulous, you just need to think of things in a new way, WELL DONE!
ReplyDeleteLove the little china cabinet in the middle of the counter. So cute! And the wire dress form with the apron...a favorite. I can just imagine the fabulous dinners that are going to come out of that pretty, fresh kitchen!! :-))
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Kris, You and Hubby did a fabulous update on your kitchen with little or no money!! Your kitchen was beautiful the other way but it looks more open! I was anxious to see the MS picket fence color on your walls....I actually sampled on a wall today. I LOVE a bright and cheery home and yours couldn't be more beautiful......your dress form with apron, the cottage chest and chandys with the frames are my favorite!! So much to see and enjoy! Blessings~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteAwesome job Kris...love how light and bright it is!! I also love the hutch you created in the middle of your counter...so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteKris
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks wonderful!
I am in the process of doing the same thing to mine.
I think mines related to cabin fever!
Kris...you did good on your kitchen redo without spending any money!! It's beautiful!!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
How stunning Kris! You did an amazing job and thank you so much for sharing it with us at THT.
ReplyDeleteNice job Kris! It looks absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning!!
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow! I am so in love with your kitchen makeover, Kris, it is gorgeous! I adore all of your open shelving, and the cabinet your handy hubby made, All of the Frenchy touches like the vintage silverware, the cutting boards, and the picnic basket make it extra special. And the best part is you used what you had! Now that is what I call true talent!! Love it all, you should be proud!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE . . . LOVE . . . LOVE it . . . there is too much detail to mention, but I love each little touch you include in your vignettes.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure about the black behind the knobs. i like it, but your room is white. I have some similar knobs and I love them.
Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteWhat à kitchenette to lové .... So wish it were my kitchen. I bet when you have visiting guest they just melt in its beauty of whiteness, I have added a bi more white to mine and have a ways to go, wondering if w will stay long in our investment home so we fear song to much craziness that I would like to do for fear of a sell in a small home neighborhood that lacks the attention to a cottage chic buyer.
I need to live in the country with a big white barn so I can express the French creative side of what I imagine my life to live :)
You my sweet friend are living life beautifully, and a envy to many, me included.
You inspire girl, I need to do something quick here or move :)
Xoxo
See you soon beautiful.
Doré
Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, your kitchen is amazing........course, I thought it was awesome before, but it looks so totally different it is
stunning........love the chandy's in there and it just has so much Kris personality...........just the way it should be.
and to think you only bought paint, amazing! and that hubby of your's is priceless.............what a guy and what great
work he does.........Enjoy that lovely kitchen.........bet you feel better about all that snow now........since you had this
nice distraction with such a tremendous outcome.........lol
Blessings, Nellie
Bravo….a kitchen that deserves a standing ovation…you and your hubby did an incredible job…Iove how your married the two pieces of furniture together to create such a beautiful storage area..just so creative..I am sure you are over the top happy with the way it turned out….as you should be!…love everything about your kitchen!!!
ReplyDeleteREally love your kitchen makeover especially the addition of the little dresser and cabinet on the long wall. Just my sort of makeover and I'm working on one for my own kitchen. I love makeovers that don't cost but look like they did. Now you asked about the back pieces on the cabinets and I'm going to give you my hones opinion. The black is to distracting...it takes away from all the lovely whiteness. The rest of the kitchen is spot on...but I was like "What are those?" I'd try painting them...but honestly...I think you only need the knobs. You asked? But other than that...I love everything you did. Your kitchen is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks wonderful and what an incredible difference paint color can make in a space. I love your wood countertops and your chandeliers.
ReplyDeletePatty at Home and Lifestyle Design
This is such a lovely re-do, Kris...I love the light feeling and all of your personal touches! Love the idea of framing the clock and chandeliers!
ReplyDeleteIt looks just great, Kris. I can see why you are so excited and happy. I love the little detail of adding the doily to the silverware jar.
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, your kitchen is stunning. There is nothing that I don't like - everything is PERFECT. I can't believe that you only spent money on one can of paint. Good for you. I like the black on the knobs goes with your chalkboards.
ReplyDeleteYou have one of the prettiest kitchen I have every seen.
Have a great weekend in your beautiful kitchen.
Mary
My style is anything but farmhouse/cottage, but girrrrlll!!! This.Is.Gorgeous. You did an amazing job. I mean, really. This is Pinterest Perfect. I particularly love the ladder idea and using it as a drying rack. And the chandy's? Tres magnifique. Well done. Bravo. XOXO
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, I absolutely love it! I have a similar colour in my kitchen and have been thinking of painting it white. Your new colour makes a huge difference. I love your dress the most I think. And the sink posts are divine. Can I ask you a question please? The sink skirt. We don't use them here in Australia. Do they serve a purpose of catching water and the you just wash them? Are there cupboard doors underneath? Thanks, Julie
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is gorgeous and almost the same exact layout as mine. Thank you for sharing! Very inspirational, as I'm working to make my kitchen more cottage-y. I love the butcher block counters!
ReplyDeleteWhen you said you were redoing your kitchen, I was kind of sad because I loved your kitchen. I honestly didn't think it could get better. But it DID! Every little detail is just gorgeous, Kris. I can't believe you did this without spending any money. So inspiring!
ReplyDeletei just LOVE it all! the dresser/china cabinet--so clever! the piece of ladder--awesome! the oval clock looks great in the frame, too! and how great your xmas chalkboard fit the pantry! so much brighter with a romantic feel--love it!
ReplyDeleteI don't even know where to start except to say…OH MY GOSH!!!…it's amazing…I thought it was pretty before but wowza….so super lovely now!…again…amazing…love looking at it…I can only imagine how much you must love having your coffee in there!!…please come and visit…Mariaelena
ReplyDeleteIn the last picture it has two chairs with a ruffled skirts, do you have a tutorial for those? You kitchen is amazing, gorgeous, and so creative!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Tracy
ReplyDeleteTracy,
DeleteYou have a good eye. I took that picture right before I re did the chairs last thing I changed up in there. If you contact me I can tell you how I did them. I went to your blog and there was not way to contact you back and you are a no reply blogger so this was the only way to contact you back. Hope you come back to see this.
Kris
Amazing!! I have to admit I didn't think I could love your kitchen anymore than I already did!! But I do :) And that dress form made me smile...I have something "similar" in my head for an upcoming show. Love it!!
ReplyDeletestay close to the phone! I'm sure "Romantic Homes" or one of those equally fabulous magazines will be calling soon for a photo shoot Kris. So much charm, personality and uniqueness.
ReplyDeleteKris, it's outstanding, as I knew it would be!! You've outdone yourself, my friend!! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
Your kitchen is amazing! The open shelving. The styling. The apron on the dress form. I could go on, but you get the idea! I'm in love :)
ReplyDeleteI just love everything about this kitchen. wonderful job. I love the old dress form, maybe later a tutorial on how to make one. this is my favorite thing.
ReplyDeleteIt really looks so good! I love how you styled your shelves above the counter top. You've got some wonderful pieces in your kitchen that add so much charm. The new lighter color on the walls is perfect. I also love the fabric you used for the sink skirt and bar stools.
ReplyDeleteJust stunning! I cant tell in the photos so well. Did you use a pure white paint on the walls? Looks beautiful! can I borrow your hubby to redo my kitchen? LOL!
ReplyDeleteKris,
ReplyDeleteBravo, bravo to you and your husband. Loving all the details and how you carried the chairs upholstery from the sink skirt. Its a real success story, done on a shoe string budget. I'm impressed! Enjoy!
Vera
can this images be pinned on pinerest?
ReplyDeleteI can really see the changes in the before/after photos. I love the new colour. OK, I love the whole lovely, charming place. I love the new fabric. More ideas for me to steel. You two are AMAZING!
ReplyDelete*Smiles*
Kris, it's beautiful. Perfect. And GIRL, I'd hardly say "Finally..." since you re-did a KITCHEN in a week!!! Whatever vitamins you take, I want a case. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, this is so beautiful and I can tell your excitement in this post. Everything is gorgeous as always. As I mentioned before I am way behind in my emails so you will get responses from me way out of order. I have been researching kitchen products and faucets for the house and a bunch of other things.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Your new make over is very nice completed! Better yet, not much money spent! Your hubby must be as energetic, talented and creative as you are. I especially like the made over cabinet, piece of ladder to hang flowers and the jars with doilies and silverware in them! I would vote for black around the knobs so that it shows up better. Thanks for sharing! Nancy
ReplyDeleteWow, Kris!!! I can' t believe...only money for a can of paint to make this gorgeous transformation!!! I love it, everything is so charming. The cabinet, the french apron, the chandeliers...wow!
ReplyDeleteKisses
Alessandra
Oh it's ALL so beautiful!!! I really like the sink skirt and the jars with lace and silver. (Think I'll copy your idea!)
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Diane
LOVE IT fabulous job your husband did on making that little china cabinet
ReplyDeleteI want to whine , I miss my husband , I can't use a screw driver LOL
just beautiful!! wondering where you purchased your chandeliers? they're amazing!!
ReplyDeleteOh Kris, it is fabulous! Love the dresser made into a cabinet and the ladder drying rack is probably my favorite thing! The chalkboard on the pantry is darling. Giving me the idea to paint the center of my door into a chalkboard. Might be kind of fun. I'll see what hubby thinks. Your Chandy's are just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Simply amazing. You and Hubby are quite a team!
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen so much! It is beautiful. I adore that french basket--oh so pretty. The chandeliers are gorgeous and love the frames on the ceiling. So clever. There was nothing I didn't like--it is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome transformation! I love it with the new color and chandeliers....great job.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Amy Jo
Fabulous job! I love your kitchen. Love everything about it. Great sink skirt, wonderful chandys and open shelves. All the special touches. So, so pretty. I'm following you with GFC, and would love it if you'd share your oh so charming kitchen at my blog party Every Room In The House. All month long we'll be partying in The Kitchen, and your post would make a wonderful addition. Here's the link: http://www.ajoyfulcottage.com/2014/01/every-room-in-house-party-1.html
ReplyDeleteI do hope you'll join in the fun. xx ~ Nancy (Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving the nice comment, by the way.) Oh, and I would leave the black back piece behind the knob. Looks great!
That was quite a transformation! This has to be the most charming kitchen I have ever seen - love it!
ReplyDeleteOh my oh oh my! Not sure where to start on what I love most. Amazeballs what you did for little money, basically really little. Looks like a million bucks. Now if that chicken wire dress form and apron come up missing, I swear to you it was not me. I wouldn't dare hop on a plane to Chicago right now. I will wait til summer:) Beautiful Kris, just beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteKris and your Mr. handyman are amazing! I think this is the cutest and prettiest kitchen ever... I wouldn't mind cooking and doing dishes in this room!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Pendra
p.s. I love the black behind the clock knobs... so country french!!!
Oh Kris! Oh my goodness! This is gorgeous!!!! I've always loved your kitchen before but you've taken it to a whole new level here! The color is fabulous! It all looks like a brand new kitchen - does it feel like it to you? I bet you've walked through it a hundred times with a big smile on your face since the completion. Outstanding! You and Terry did such an awesome job! I love the frames, the chandies, the new fabric, the chalkboard door from your daughters, the great repurposing that turned into a little china cabinet, EVERYTHING! Doesn't Hobby Lobby have the neatest selection of knobs? I'd leave them as is - the contrast is nice and I'm afraid that if they were white, they'd take away from the clock detailing. What a splendid example of what a can of paint and some repurposing can do! Thank you so much for sharing! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteGood Work, Kris!
ReplyDeleteI have the same idea...about using mostly what I already have to finish things this year. I have so much I really don't need ore. Maybe a can of paint here and there or a piece or two to finish pAND Now!
hugs,
Betsy
