Easy Peasy Refrigerator Make Over

 

Remember the window cling that I used to give privacy on the side windows of my front entry.  I love the simple pattern. When we have sunshine it comes through the windows.  This stuff lets light in but also gives privacy.

I was on Instagram minding my own business!!!! I was scrolling through pretty decor ideas.  Now that our phones know everything we are looking at  brought up other uses for the window cling.  

I do not know about you but it drives me crazy if you look at something on the internet  then it starts to show you a million other things especially ads for what you were doing or looking at.
I guess in this case with the cling it was good
 because a Lady popped up showing how she used the window cling to decorate her appliances.  It gave texture and a pattern to her stainless steel appliances.

I thought to myself I kind of like that and knowing how easy it was on the windows I thought let's give this a try.  
We used water to adhere the cling to the side windows.  This lady putting this on  her refrigerator she said she used soapy water to get a better hold.

As you can see my refrigerator is stainless on the front and side panel of the doors.  The sides of my refrigerator are a texture material.  I do not think the cling would work well on a textured surface.  I also like the textured sides of the refrigerator.  No smudges and easy to keep clean.

My wonderful cohort in decor crime (Terry) used his patiences and cut the pieces to fit the doors of the refrigerator.  He cut them big enough to go around the sides of the doors.  

He put the soap and water with a sponge onto the door and then fit the piece of film on top of that.  Terry used a bowl of warm sudsy water and a sponge.  The lady used a spray bottle to spray the doors.  Either way it is easy peasy.   Terry then used a wallpaper smoother and a towel to adhere it to the door.  
It basically was like hanging wallpaper but so so easy.

My refrigerator the doors do not touch each other when closed.  There is a space in-between the doors.  Terry cut a piece to fit that part of the door as you can see in the picture.

Now my boring refrigerator has a little texture.  This also keeps dirt and finger prints off the stainless steel.  

I got the cling on Amazon and they have simple to really elaborate patterns and colors.

The nice part of this is no glue or mess and if you get tired of this you can pull it off the doors and you still have your stainless steel appliance still perfect underneath.

I have to order another roll of this cling to do my dishwasher next.  It just gives the shiny boring look of the dishwasher a little texture and pattern.  Probably will take the handle off when we put the cling on the dishwasher and then put the handle back on.  The cling should be able to wrap around the handle since it is flat on the back.

One more things before I say good bye.  

I recently found this architectural salvage window piece for a steal.  I am sorry I did not take a picture of it before it got hung on the window.

I thought this would look nice with my wreath hanging in on it.  I took my wood blinds off fully intending to put the cling film on this window to give privacy.  

After trying a piece I did not like that it blocked out the woods behind us.  In the summer months it is so pretty with the trees and birds back there.   

We back up to the woods and it is protected land so nothing will ever be built behind our house.  With that said I really do not have to worry about needing privacy behind the house.  No one goes back there except the animals that live in the woods lol.
Plus it is my dining room window and not a bedroom window that would need privacy.

I love the light that comes in all day.  Today and many days this month have been without sunshine.  When it is a sunny day the sunshine comes through the window and is very pretty with my salvage piece and wreath.

To let you know how this piece is hung on the window was pretty easy too.  Terry used fishing line that holds up to 20LBs.  This piece is not that heavy.  

He hung the piece by the fishing line to the under part of the upper  dining room window.  He screwed in the line.  He then attached the fishing line to the back of the piece to keep it steady on the window.

The fishing line is clear so it blends in with the window and you do not see it.
