:)

Just wanted to share with you this cute little purchase I made at one of my fav shops Room 363.  I was meeting my daughter in downtown Naperville to have lunch and then babysit my granddaughter Abby for the afternoon and of course I had to stop in to see Mark at his great shop.  I have to admit I never walk out of there without something!!!! He always has too many cute things. Well I came across these cute cows and wanted to share them with you.  They are too adorable.  I have been having fun moving them around my house to see where they will fit best.

Look at the front of Mark's shop tooo cute and it draws you in.  Look at that cute chandy just hanging being adorable.  Of course love his cute bike in the back ground.  You know me and bikes in the garden!!!!! If you live in the Chicago land area suburbs you must check out Mark's shop and his blog. http://www.room363.net/

Here are my cute sweet little cows I purchased today.

They are candle sticks aren't they adorable.

I love all the detail and how sweet they are.

I have not decided where they will end up yet.  They are on the mooove!!!!!
Hope your week is going great.

:)

Hope you had a great week end and a wonderful Mother's Day.  I have a couple of things to share with you.  I did my first Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint Project this week end.  It was fun and easy and very unpredictable!!! I was at Tattered Tiques and they sell the Milk Paint so I thought I would give it a try in my guest room redo.

Here are the projects I did with the Milk Paint and a few pictures of the reveal of the new guest room.

I thought I would start small and work my way up to a bigger project.  I mixed Ironstone and French enamel to get a lighter beach blue.

I learned something interesting about Milk Paint if the surface does not have a finish on it already then it will not chip.  This old piece was just natural wood so it did not chip at all.  Good to know for the next item I moved onto.

Old vintage white dresser.  Did the same thing mixed French Enamel which is a darker blue and added the white ironstone to lighten it. You just mix the powdered milk paint with warm water and you have yourself some paint.  You can just mix what you need and store the rest.  If you have any paint left over that is already mixed it will keep in an air tight container for about a week.  It does not take much paint.  I mixed 3 tablespoons of milk paint to 6 tablespoons of water and it painted the whole dresser.

This dresser chipped!!!! Yeah!!!! I would have liked it to chip a little more but for a first project I thought it came out beach/lake weathered.

This is the only problem I could see with Milk Paint is you just never know how much it will or will not chip.  I wanted a weathered look to the dresser so I am pretty happy with it. A little more chipping and I would have been super Happy but I liked the way it came out.

Here is a closer look.  It kind of just chips where it wants. You put the milk paint on and then let it dry and it will begin to chip.  You use a spackle scraper to help remove any flakes or chips.  Then you vacuum the piece for any dust and then wax it and you are done.
Pretty Easy to do.

While  we (the hubby and me)  were working on the Lake Guest Room  my husband had to run to Home Depot and when he came back he had these beautiful white roses for me for Mother's day.  He said I needed a little pretty vase of flowers for the reveal!!! He is the sweetest. He also helped with painting the dresser and scraping of the dresser. Milk paint was a new one for him too.
I then moved the roses out to the living room by my angel. So pretty how the flowers and the angel caught the sunlight coming in the window today.

I hung some old chippy shutters for a head board.  I got these  at Tattered Tiques .  Of course I brought home only 3 of the 4 and then realized if I wanted them for a headboard I would need the 4th so back to Tattered Tiques to get the 4th one!!!! They were perfect and chippy to give that lake weathered look.   I polyurathene them so they would not be chipping anymore and it made them a little darker than I would have liked.  I will fix that with some white wash paint. Plus I feel they need something either around them or on them.  I guess I will have to figure that out. I do like the weathered look they give the room.  I imagine shutters like these on a cute little beach cottage.

Originally I had thought about making the old door into a headboard but I liked the shutter look better.  So my hubby just re hung the old door back up for me and we added some more old knobs to the door for my guests to hang things.

There's Little Midge getting into the pictures.  She is always "monkeying around".  She likes her new digs.  Now her bikini and hat match the room!!!

My old chippy farmhouse mail box.  Love that old chippy piece. Such character!!!

Beach this way sign it is pointing toward the actual direction of the lake and beach in our town.

Over my window I have a vintage street sign that says Sunset Dr.  I love that this window faces West and we get the sunsets in that window.  So the sign was perfect for over this window.

Had one more of the ladders in the shed like I put in my living room so I thought it would be good in the guest room for hanging my throws on.

I added blue to this room for a lake theme.  My sheets are blue and white stripes and I have a duvet that is a retired Rachel Ashwell's British Blue Roses design.  I had that from awhile ago and thought I would use it when I redid this room.   So happy I held on to some of that bedding.  I also found the blue and white stripped country curtains in the same box that I had the bedding stored so I basically redid this room and did not have to buy anything new.  Just used what I already had.

Of Course my beautiful Angel that watches over my guest is still hanging on the door to greet my guests as they enter.  I love that beautiful sweet angel.
