Saturday Spotlight: Life Behind the Blogger

Susan from Must Love Junk, and myself wanted to do a regular feature on our blogs, something unique that hasn't been done before.   So we came up with an idea to 'spotlight the real life behind the blogger' in a more personal way.
There is so much talent and inspiration in blogland, and we thought it would be fun to bring you a closer look at the person behind the blog.

Every week on Saturday we will spotlight a blogger and have them tell us a little bit about themselves and their blogs.  You will be able to see and read about each of the bloggers on both Susan's and my blog.
September 13th
Danni from Silo Hill Farm

Hi Everyone and Happy Saturday.  This week I am introducing you to a wonderfully sweet blogger .

Danni in my book is a hero because she fought for adopting two children as a single mom and won.  After not giving up she was able to raise two beautiful  children and give them a great start in life.    Ok not to give anymore away on Danni please read on about her and I know you will fall in love with her and her lovely blog.

Hello to all of you fans of Junk Chic Cottage!  I'm excited to be here and a little bit baffled as to why Kris asked me to be spotlighted.  I don't really have a cottage and I don't really have a lot of vintage-ish stuff, although I love both.

I come from a large family, five sisters and one brother and I love them all!  I grew up in Chicago and dreamed of leaving it most of my life.  I was pretty sure I was never meant to be a city girl and longed for wide open spaces.  It didn't take me long to move when I turned 18.  I'm kind of a girl of action and oh just try telling me "no".
I moved to Missouri and adopted two children as a single parent.  (Can you believe the state of Missouri told me I couldn't do that?...Like I said, just try telling me "no".)  They are grown and out on their own now, but here they are in younger days.
Aja and Will
When my kids were 8 & 10, I met and married my husband Sam.  He's awesome.  He adopted my kids and life got even more exciting from there.
We moved to Montana where we lived in a cabin on a mountain with a stream.  Picture perfect and I loved it.  Moose, bear, mountain lions, elk and deer right outside my front door.  I still miss it everyday.
After about 8 years, we moved back to Missouri to be closer to family.  We bought a farm with a creek and since we didn't know what to do with our spare time, we started a pumpkin patch and haunted maze that we opened to the public every October.  It was a blast!  Schools came out for field trips and brave and not-so-brave teens came out every weekend night.
When we had a horrible drought, we learned that maybe a weather dependent business was not our thing.  Last year we sold our farm and bought a bigger house in town to renovate.  We finally moved in in May and have been surprised at how much we enjoy living in town.  I especially enjoy having a bigger house with an entire room dedicated to crafting and creating.
Even though we have moved into town, we are about to get into the cattle business out in the country, which means we'll be back to wearing farm boots and driving tractors again.  I can drive a tractor.
We have 3 grandchildren whom we adore...

I took a part-time job this summer as a bookkeeper for a graphics design company.  I'm a nerd, I love bookkeeping, but I can't wait to get my hands on some of their equipment and maybe make some cool signs and wall art.
I love blogging, although I have less time for it now that I work.  I love all of the inspiration I get from the blog world and I spend way too much time scrolling through link parties and pinterest.  I have made some great friends in the blog world and even met a few of them.  I hope to meet more.

If you aren't familiar with my blog, it's mostly a crafting blog where I create my own decor, although my most viewed post happens to be Caramel Corn recipe, go figure.  (It is awesome stuff though.)  Here are the links to some of my popular posts.

I've made some fun pallet projects.

My Fairy Garden has had a ridiculous amount of views.  I had no idea people loved fairy gardens so much.

Since it's almost Halloween, here are my two most popular posts for the upcoming season.  This first one really took no time at all, seriously, 30 minutes and there's a quick tutorial.

This Umbrella Witch is not an original idea, but I did put my own spin on it.

Happy Wednesday

These last few weeks of summer are going so fast.  Fall will be here soon and then yep the dirty word Winter! Ughh!

I am trying to soak it all up and try to make each day count.

I showed you my guest room hanger that I got at the market show last week end.  I also got this cool basket awhile back and put it up in the guest room too.

I think it is a basket for carrying big canvas or paper but I am using it like a flower basket in the guest room.

I love this basket.  1989 was a good year for me and my hubby so I liked that this basket was marked with the number 89.

I think with it's shape it was probably a art canvas basket.

My Guardian Angel Grace awaiting guests to arrive for a stay.

Have a wonderful rest of this week.  Come back on Saturday for Spotlight Susan and I have two wonderful bloggers for you to get to know.

A New Find That Will Not Be Painted White!!!!!

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday.  Hope the week end was good and you are off to a great start with the new week ahead.

I went to Mark's Washington Street Market on Saturday.  Mark owns of my fave shops Room 363.  So a couple of times a year he does this vintage market show and invites fantastic vendors to be part of his market show.

I found this wonderful vintage piece that I have to share with all of you.

Julie Norkus is one of my fave vendors at the flea market and she was at Mark's show.

This is what I got in her lovely booth.
It is a hanger made out of an old top of a vintage school desk.  Loved it the minute I saw it.

It has the old ink well hole.  Gotta love that.

This is why I truly fell in love with this piece.  Can you see the initials carved out from the students that sat at this desk years ago.

DD + AJ in a heart.  Ohhhhhh I hope these two ended up together in sweet love.  This piece was too cute and had so much character and history.

So now I have it hanging under my Guest Cottage sign in my guest room.  This is where my guests can a hang a few things when they stay with me.

It was a wonderful market and a wonderful day for weather.  Low 70's and sunny with a light breeze.

Perfect shopping weather.
Have a wonderful week.
