Saturday Spotlight: Life Behind the Blogger

Susan from Must Love Junk, and myself wanted to do a regular feature on our blogs, something unique that hasn't been done before.   So we came up with an idea to 'spotlight the real life behind the blogger' in a more personal way.
There is so much talent and inspiration in blogland, and we thought it would be fun to bring you a closer look at the person behind the blog.

Every week on Saturday we will spotlight a blogger and have them tell us a little bit about themselves and their blogs.  You will be able to see and read about each of the bloggers on both Susan's and my blog.

Ruth from White Whimsy

Good Saturday Morning.  This week for Spotlight I am introducing you to a sweet blogger that shares my love of whites.  I love that she re loves vintage pieces with history into her home and decor.  Please take a few minutes to get to know this sweet blogger.

Hi, my name is Ruth and my blog is White Whimsy. When I was asked to do a Saturday Spotlight at Junk Chic Cottage I was honored and excited that I had been asked to share about myself and my blog.  When I started writing this post though I was at a loss for words.  So here it goes I will start with my family.  I live in Kansas with my husband and two beautiful daughters (my husband is behind the camera taking the picture).

We also have an adorable pug named Ollie.

After years of looking at many beautiful blogs I decided to start my own as a type of picture diary to keep track of some of my redecorating and DIY projects.  This coffee bar is one of my projects.

I do love my coffee and when I saw this burlap coffee bean bag at the antique mall, I brought it home and framed it.

I love decorating with antiques and things I have found at garage sales.  I get giddy when I find a deal or something that I can transform.  Here a a few of my great finds.

If you couldn’t tell by the name of my blog, I love WHITE!  Some of my daughters friends even refer to our house as the “white house.”

I also love baking and reading and recently I have gone back to college to get my degree in elementary education.  I plan on graduating May 2015 and am anxious to get back to more decorating and diy projects. Thanks Kris for inviting me to be part of Spotlight Saturday and share a bit about myself.

Thank you Ruth for letting us into your home and to get to know you a little better.  Now that you have gotten to know Ruth from White Whimsy please hop over to Susan's blog and meet Jen from Apple And Orchard.

Have a great rest of the week end.

Last Elkhorn Flea Market Weekend

It was a gorgeous day on Sunday so Terry and I took a drive to Elkhorn Wisconsin for the final Flea Market of the Season.

Elkhorn Wisconsin is only about 45 minute drive over the border to Wisconsin just out side Lake Geneva.

They have in my opinion the best flea market around.  I always find so many fabulous things.

Here are some of my finds from the week end.

Got these two chippy posts to add some fabric pumpkins too.

Diner prices tray to hang in my kitchen.

Old vintage rolling pins and a silver tray and little pumpkins.

While digging through one vendors booth I found this old cast iron fireplace log piece.

It was dirty and filled with junk but I fell deeply in love.

Yep,  I think it was her cute legs that grabbed my attention.

Just a super sweet old crusty and rusty piece.  Perfect for the opening of my fireplace mantel.

Terry added some white paint to her to fit more in my decor.

Added my sweet pumpkins from the pumpkin farm.

Got this old white chippy bucket so I added some dried hydrangea's to it.

Had this old chippy birdcage so added some white pumpkins and fall flowers.

So until it cools down and I can add some of this decor to the outside front porch it will be fall in my dining room.

This was my favorite find of the day.  This wreath made out of old tree branches and corn stalks.  The turning leaves still attached to the branches.

I cannot leave well enough alone so I added some fall flowers to give her a little bling and a white pumpkin.

I have her hanging on my french doors out to the back patio for now but she will eventually go on my front door when my impatiens are done.  It is still beautiful weather but they are saying by Wednesday we will be getting cold temps moving in and lots of rain on Thursday with cooler temps maybe only 60 on Thursday.  So fall is trying to arrive in the Chicago land area.

I am excited to have Susan (Must Love Junk) and her hubby Keith come in on Thursday.  Just wish the weather was going to be a little better.  Hopefully with our junkin trips we will not notice the rain predicted for Thursday.  Hopefully on Friday for the little town of Morris it will be cooler temps but sunny.

Have a great rest of the week.  Some back on Saturday Susan and I will have another couple of wonderful bloggers in Spotlight.

Happy Week

Not Keepin Up With Fall Decor in Blogland

Happy Sunday.

I am really far behind in blog land with my outside Fall Decor.  Everyone is getting up such beautiful decor I however still have summer hanging on.

My Front Porch still has a few flowers hanging on to these beautiful days of 70 degree weather.

I had a lot of my plants end but there are still a few hanging on.

My impatiens bag on the front door is still thriving and I just cannot bring myself to let her go just yet for fall decor.

As you can see the flower beds are done but a few plants in the bike baskets are still hanging in there.

I have my sweet memories of summer to hold onto.

Yep this is all that is left of summer at Junk Chic Cottage in the back garden. :(

No more pretty flowers hanging on the old chippy posts.

I will savor the few remaining flowers I have for the next few weeks until the cold sets in.  We have just had the most gorgeous weather.  My flowers usually only stay good until August with our water being so yuk up here in our town.  So the roots by the end of summer have just been done in by our partially softened water.  Just happy a couple have hung in there.

Memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Good bye sweet summer.

I continue to work on a little bit of fall inside.
I moved my chippy bench from out in the back garden into my entry.  I will have fun with decorating that for Christmas.  Love that chippy bench.

Went to the pumpkin farm and found some beautiful pumpkins in all shapes and sizes and such unique colors.

White pumpkins, light blue, light greens, pinks and light orange and yellows.  Finally found some white boo's too.

Loved all the unique colors.

So inside these pumpkins will stay until it gets cooler and I lose my summer flowers then I can move these out front with some of my other fall decor.  Just cannot do it quite yet.

I know a lot of you have already got your beautiful porches all ready for fall.  I just need a little more time.  Having beautiful 70's weather with sunshine and light breezes this week.
Happy Fall...well sort a!
Have a wonderful start to the week ahead.
