Saturday Spotlight: Life Behind the Blogger

Susan from Must Love Junk, and myself (Kris) Junk Chic Cottage wanted to do a regular feature on our blogs, something unique that hasn't been done before.   So we came up with an idea to 'spotlight the real life behind the blogger' in a more personal way.
There is so much talent and inspiration in blogland, and we thought it would be fun to bring you a closer look at the person behind the blog.

Every week on Saturday we will spotlight a blogger and have them tell us a little bit about themselves and their blogs.  You will be able to see and read about each of the bloggers on both Susan's and my blog.

Pamela: My Front Porch To Yours

Good Saturday to all of you.  I have another wonderful blogger I would love to introduce you to, Pamela From My Front Porch To Yours.  Pamela found me back when I first started my blog and asked me to be featured in her How I found my Style Sunday Series and from that time on we have been great blogging friends.  Please sit back and enjoy learning more about Pamela and her lovely life, family and blog.

Hello everybody! My name is Pamela and I blog over at From My Front Porch To Yours. First let me say thank you to Kris and Susan for inviting me over today to visit with them! I am truly honored. I agree with Debbie from Debbiedoos, I am not comfortable talking about myself so this is kinda a reach for me. Anything for my pal Kris!:) Hmmm, let's see I have been blogging for just over 4 years now.
This is me and The Hubster. We have been married for 12 years but have been together for 17. Boy does time fly!
We are from the great state of Georgia. All of our family is still in Georgia and we love going back home to visit and dream about moving back some day possibly.
Right after we were married...literally two days later...we hopped on a plane and moved to Texas. Though heart breaking to leave all we loved and knew behind we can not complain. Texas has been very good to us.
We started our family here and call it home. I can not tell you how very much I love all three of my men! They are truly my world.
We took a 2 year hiatus from Texas and lived in Baton Rouge when Oldest & Littliest were smaller. That is where I grew to love anything French.
This here is our home where all the memories and DIY chaos happens.
This lady right here, she is my mama! Shh, do not tell her I shared this pic with y'all. She would just die.
This is my mama's dining room and well you can see where I get my decorating gene from!;) I have always loved decorating. When I was a kid I would stay up till the wee hours rearranging my room till it was just right.
I love to go shopping which I also get from my mama!;)
I get a huge thrill from thrifting...
and turning my treasures into something grand.
I love to sew. I do not do enough of it but I do love it even though I can not read a pattern to save my life.
When my boys were younger I actually owned a baby boutique business and made bibs, burpies, blankets and what not for extra money to do things we loved. Doing shows for me was a big thrill! As the boys grew older though I became more focused on decorating our home and then decided to sell some of my painted furniture on the side.
I am trying to instill my passion for DIY in my boys.
So far they enjoy helping out and treasure hunting with their mom. I know it may not last but I will take it while I can.
This guy is the guy who makes it all possible. Believe it or not he is actually the one who instigates the larger projects around here!;)
Sophia is our oldest fur baby. She is 12.
Our GQ kitty as I like to call him is 11.
Then last year we added this adorable little lady to the mix after the boys begged for a puppy. She just turned one and thankfully has outgrown most of her puppy phase.
So that is my life in a nutshell. I am currently working on reworking our home from doing a semi kitchen remodel to a living room make over. Be sure to stop on by my place sometime and see just what I am up to next!;)

Thank you Pamela for sharing your personal side with all of us.  It was fun learning more about you.  Now that you have learned more about Pamela please jump over to Susan's blog and learn about her special spotlight blogger Kelly from Eclectically Vintage.
Have a great week end.

Home Is The Perfect Nest

Good Sunday to all.  Hope you are having a great week end.

I am doing a post on my birdcage I bought recently at the flea market.

This is the sweet birdcage I got at Elkhorn Flea Market this past week end.  I was really excited to get this and had high hopes for putting her on top of my entertainment cabinet.  She was about 10 inches too tall so the hubby made some adjustments to have her fit on the cabinet.

Here she is with a new coat of paint.

I added my love birds that my hubby bought me awhile ago for our anniversary.  I adore these love birds and loved putting them in the middle of this bird cage.
Aren't they sweet.
Had this old column piece and added them on top of that with some flowers and greenery.

In the other side door I added my fabric pumpkin for fall decor.  I cannot wait to switch out fall for Christmas.  This bird cage will be fun to decorate for Christmas.  I can see some trees and some italian lights on those peaks.

I have one of my favorite little cherubs in the other side.

Doesn't she looks so happy to be in the bird cage.

Added a couple more sweet tweets in the cage.

Re hung my Bless this Sweet Nest picture.

Just a few changes on the other side of the entertainment cabinet.

I got this sweet little bird cage at the flea market yesterday.

There you have it the bird cage re do.  I will be excited to decorate it for Christmas with some fun angels, trees and some little italian lights on those peaks.  Sorry the pictures are gray looking but it was not a sunny day today.
Have a great start to the week.
Kris
