Coffee Table Change

Hello Everyone.  Happy Friday.

Terry made me this coffee table awhile back and I have loved it but I felt it needed a little change.

It is a pretty little coffee table but the light pine top just was not mixing nicely with my darker floors.

I decided I was going to white wash the top.  That was my first step.  Easy peasy just dry brushed the top with slightly watered down white paint.

I then took some antique glaze and applied it to the top of the table with a rag.  Wiping off the glaze with another dry rag.

The antiquing stain gave a more gray tone to the pine w00d underneath.

I added this vintage door knob to the backside of this table to give her some character.  Easy peasy change up to give a new look to this table.  It is just fun to take some paint and experiment to see what different looks you can achieve to a piece you already have.

Have a great Friday and wonderful week end.
Going to see the release of the new movie Trolls with my granddaughter Abby today.
Should be fun.

$2.99 Goodwill Make Over

Good Morning everyone.  Hope your Halloween was Spooktacular.

I want to show you what $2.99 and a man with tools can do for a sweet grandgirl!

Abby our 6 year old granddaughter wanted her grandpa to make her a special lego table.  She is so into being creative with legos.

Terry and I found this Lane piece solid oak at the Goodwill for $2.99

Terry said he could not buy good pieces of wood to make the table for $2.99 so we grab this chunk of wonderful wood and took it home to be re loved into a lego table for Abby.

Abby went with us to pick out the color of paint.  She loves purple so she picked out grape jelly for the legs and a lighter purple color for the main part of the table.  Looks pink with the way the light was hitting it but it is a light purple.

Dollar Store Bins with lids to store each of her lego kits.

Target sold the lego squares so it took 3 squares to make the base on the top of the table.

I could not resist these sweet fur stools I found at Hobby Lobby in the clearance.  So we painted the legs to match.

There is the "crew chief" sleeping on the job!!!!!
So here it is a lego table big enough for two to four kids to build for a $2.99 Goodwill find and a can of paint $20 and a sample $3 for the darker purple,  and twelve $1 bins. Terry said he probably could have gotten the lighter purple in a sample size too for $3 which would have been even more cost savings.  He said those sample Valspar paints go a long way.  So if you are thinking of doing a smaller paint project on furniture think about just having them mix up a sample for you.  Saves $$$$$.  Lego sq's for the top $15.  So for about $55 dollars you have a fabulous lego table.
I have seen these lego tables sell on Etsy for over $200.

Happy New Week.
Have a fabulous week.

Happy Halloween

Have a Spooktacular Halloween.  Hope you see lots of cute ghosts and goblins at your doors.

The pumpkins are carved and lite and ready for the dark and spooky Halloween Eve!

As a lot of you know the Chicago Cubs are in the World Series.  We are all White Sox Fans in this family but are cheering on the Cubs.  My daughter and Son in law are crazed cubs fans for this Halloween!

Abby is going as a purple witch and she has her little black cat Charlotte to accompany her too!  I will try and get more pictures later tonight when Terry and I go over for trick or treating with these cute goblins.  Abby was excited this morning to wear her costume to school.

Happy Halloween.

Happy Halloween Weekend

Happy Halloween to all you Spooksters and Goblins.  For the first time in a long time we are going to have a 70 degree day for Halloween on Monday.  Woooo Hoooo!  It usually is rainy and cold and the little ghosts and goblins have to cover up the sweet costumes with coats or worse bring umbrellas.

This Halloween will be a good one in Chicago Land.

My pumpkins are ready to be carved.

My mum is opening up and embracing fall.  My last surviving flower from summer in this watering can is still hanging on for dear life!!!!

The trees are starting to finally turn.

Have a wonderful weekend and a safe and fun Halloween on Monday.  My granddaughter Abby is going to be a purple witch and her little sister Charlotte is going to be her black cat.  Should be fun.
Happy Halloween.

Little Chippy Shelf

Happy Sunday Everyone.

I have been playing with my new mantel decor in the living room.  I took this cute shelf I had with all its chippy goodness and moved it to the vignette on the mantel.  New look with just a simple shelf being added.

Chippy shelf gives some height to the candle sticks.
Just adds a little more chippy goodness to the mantel.
Happy Sunday.
Wishing all of you a wonderful start to the new week.
Hugs,
Kris

New Location For An Old Mantel

Hello Everyone.
Hope your week is going good.

I had to look at the calendar this week to see it really is October here in Chicago land!  We have had temperatures in the 80's and high 70's this week.  Crazy.  It is suppose to drop this weekend back to the normal temps of 50's for us.  With being a summer girl I will take all these nice days as they happen.  We all know what will be coming soon Ugh!!!!!!

Ok I showed you in my last post that I did a switch a roo with some things in my living room decor.

I got a new architectural piece and that started a whole change for the living room!

This is the new piece of chippy goodness.

It needed a mantel below it.  Down came the vintage mantel I had hanging in the master bedroom.
This was my vignette on this wall for summer.  Those things are all put away now for the fall and winter months.

So this mantel needed a pretty vignette added.

Found these lovelies in storage.  They needed to be rewired to work as lamps.  Since I did not need any new lamps  I  asked Terry to do his magic and make these into candles sticks for me.

Ta Da!!!!  We kept the marble base, took off that ugly metal base under the marble base and painted these white with a cream paint wash.    Terry added this candle stick piece to the top from some old candle sticks he found at Goodwill.  Love the marble and crystal accents on these now.

They look sweet with my angels on the mantel.

Moved my gather sign and sitting angel to the mantel too.

I am liking the serenity and peaceful feel of the mantel vignette.

As the holidays approach I can see lots of pretty with this mantel for Christmas.

Have a super next couple of days and a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Kris

Switch A Roo

Happy New Week Everyone.

This week end Terry and I went junkin and found a new treasure that made my heart sing.  I will give you a sneak peak at that later in this post.

Remember how I had this old vintage door hanging behind my re loved chest in the living room.

It looked good here but when I got my new window from our trip to Michigan I felt like it was competing too much with that being right next to it over the couch.

New Window from Michigan trip.

Just a wee bit too much Architectural happening on this small wall!  If I have learned one thing with my decor crazy it is that sometimes I have to try something and live with it for a little while to see if the look is going to work.  While these pieces are beautiful alone they were not working well too close together.

This was my angel up over the mantel in my bedroom.

Very pretty up in my bedroom but I ended up moving that mantel out of our room for a new place in the house which you will see in later post.  So without the mantel she needed a new place too.

The door came down from behind this chest and my angel on the old chippy window went up in it's place.  Softer and more serene.

Found this pretty and chippy and full of character architectural piece this week end at a cute shop I frequent in Geneva.  Denise's Adornments Shop.

Sneak peak at the new place this architectural piece has over the mantel moved from the Master Bedroom to the living room.  I hope to have this area done this week to show you the completed new design for this space.

My chippy cottage sign got a new home too over the china cabinet.

Hoping to finish up the new look of the mantel moved to the living room this week along with my new architectural piece as the center piece.  So stay tuned for this change up.  Have a great day and always thank you for spending time on my blog and leaving your sweet comments.
