The Cottage Living Room Reveal.

Welcome to the cottage living room.

With light streaming in this room all day I try my hardest to get a good picture without it looking too washed out.  My living room is in light gray walls, white and creams for my slipcovers and of course all my chippy architectural pieces.

This old vintage door I had in the other house  fit perfectly for the entry closet door.

Stairs After the carpet was removed and the treads re stained along with the stair rails.  The spindles and risers were painted white.

Corner living room used for my new office area.

Quick DIY for you.  What do you do with that ugly thermostat?  Well......

Cover it up!!!!

I had this cute garden plaque.

It is open in the back and fit perfectly on top of the thermostat.  So if I need to get at the thermostat just lift.  Easy Peasy.

Shout Out to the Very Talented Lisa Harmon and her slipcover creations.  I just love Lisa and how she can sew the most beautiful slipcovers.  I have shown her work before and this time I have something kind of fun that she did for me.

 I am on a tight budget with Terry not employed yet so I needed a new chair to go with my white slipcovered sofa that Lisa had covered for me last year.  To make it affordable I got the Ikea Ektorp white chair and cover.  Then I sent the cover to Lisa and she did her magic and made the boring plain ruffle on this chair into a more cottage custom ruffle.

Just adding a simple ruffle to this ikea cover gives the chair a more custom look.

Lisa did a double ruffle on the Ikea ottoman cover I had to go along with the double ruffle she did for the sofa last summer.

Lisa's creative sewing gave my living room pieces a custom look.

Summer Flowers

Welcome To The New Nest

I was a little worried with downsizing to a town home that I would not be able to have all my pretty flowers I love each summer.  So I just added my planted flowers where ever I could find an open spot in the landscaping.

Love that I could re use my "Our Nest" sign on this picket fence in the front.

Planted all my sun loving Petunia's in the front yard where they will get more sunshine.

This is our backyard area.  Nice open space.  We have homes behind us but they are set back and the trees really gives us privacy.

My sweet friend gave me this cute Bless this House plaque for a house warming.  Love the pretty flowers and saying.

I have a sweet little spot for my lounge chair just off the patio area.

When you do not have a lot of outdoor space you have to be creative and utilize the space the best you can.

This is my cute hand painted mail box I had at the other house.  We do not have street mail boxes here so I figured I would just put it in the back garden.  I have had this little mail box for years.  Just poly the heck out of it each year and it holds up beautifully.

Not a big space out back but enough for Terry and I to sit out and have dinner el fresco and for me to soak up some sun and read with my lounge chair.  The back of the town home faces east so I do not have to have an umbrella.  The sun is up and over the house in the afternoon and a nice shade over the patio lets us eat outside without having to have an umbrella.

So there is our new nest on the outside.  Summer is beginning again in my new garden areas.  I am a summer girl!!!  Just love my flowers and sunshine.
I learned you can still surround yourself with the flowers and beauty you love and you do not need a lot of space to do it.

I will have the first floor and kitchen pictures coming up soon and pictures of the lower level of Terry's new Fireman Cave.  Stay tuned.

Garden party with Friends

Home Office and Cooper Up Date

I miss my office space I carved out in the back of my dining room in the other house. Remember those awesome chippy vintage door dividers.  I miss them so.  When you move into a smaller space you have to make the rooms work to your advantage so.............

Remember our vintage living room tv armoire in the old house.

Well it got some white paint.  No shocker for any of you that know me that something got painted white lol!

Not only did it get painted white it was re loved into my new home office.

Yep Terry and his tools transported this TV armoire into an office space for me.  Like I always say gotta love a man with tools that knows what to do with them!

I loved my old desk so Terry just removed the legs and we were able to fit it inside the armoire to be used again.

Terry was able to hook up one of my small chandeliers inside the armoire for lighting.

Very pretty lighting at night when I am on the computer.

We hooked up the old curtain rod with vintage door knob ends and my baskets for some storage of my small office stuff.

Love that some of my storage things are in plain sight but still look pretty and organized.

I found this wire basket at Home Goods and painted it white to hang for some of my magazines.

My decor vision was just to surround myself with the things I love and have storage.

I still have my comfy slipcovered office chair.

Theres my little photo bomber Cooper.  More about him later in this post.

Now that little space in the back of my living room that was an awkward space is now my new home office.  I love that the armoire flows with my living room and still gives me an office.  I can close the doors and my office looks like an armoire that is part of the living room.
So there is another area in the new cottage that I could show you.  I will have more in the coming days.  The new cottage is coming together nicely.

Now for an update on this little guy.  He is doing great.  You would not know this guy has terminal cancer.  He is happy and playful and just a big love.  He had his one month check up and blood work up a week ago on his new cancer medication.  The Vet is pleased with the results and is cautiously optimistic that Cooper is reacting well to the drugs.  We are hoping with all hope this will give us months with this little guy to maybe even up to a year.
We just pray he will stay happy and comfortable like he has been for whatever time we get with him.

He is just a big lug of love.
