Some Romance For The Bedroom

Hi Everyone.  Hope your week end is going well.  I was happy to say good bye to last week.  Two funerals in one week of special people was very draining and sad.  I am hoping for a better week ahead.

I thought I would share a post today with some changes I made to our bedroom.  I love for this room to be soft and cozy and feel like a sanctuary at the end of the day.

First little change up was some new curtains for the bedroom.  I got these drop cloth curtains which were too long and so I got out my trusty old Sear Kenmore sewing machine and sewed a straight line to make a new rod pocket and have them be the right length for my large window.

Then I added some outside plant hangers to give some character to the window and to hold the new curtain pole for the burlap valances.

Next change up was to add two pretty chandeliers I got at Grayslake Flea Market yesterday.  It is so rare to find two of the same chandeliers and these were a steal.  They were an ugly gold but some light linen spray paint did the trick.  They now are the same color as the main chandelier over my bed.

I just think they add some romance to the boudoir!!!!!

The hubby put a dimmer switch on so they are bright or not so bright.  I like that I can adjust the amount of light.

I got a new pillow that said heart to heart.  Loved that it could match up with my two french love letter heart pillows I already had.

I wish I could have captured better pictures but the chandeliers and new curtains and burlap ruffled valances have given some newness to this room.  I love this time of year I change out my lighter bedding for heavier duvets.  I have three duvets on my bed.  I love a soft and comfy duvet on the cooler nights of fall.

Hope your week end is going great.
Hoping for a better week ahead.
Kris

  3. Quite romantic. The chandeliers make it a boudoir instead of a bedroom.

You are getting pretty handy with that sewing machine.

  21. Kris, love the curtains and the chandeliers are gorgeous! The best part is that you got them for a great price! I'm looking for a chandelier like that for my guest bedroom. Are you sure you need 3 for your room :) Are the curtains made from a real painting drop cloth? I hear lots of folks talking about making things from drop clothes. Am I missing something?

  26. I love the changes that you made! Very subtle yet they carry a big impact! Those big, ruffled valances are so incredible! I need to learn to make some for our room! oh my gosh! The sun just peeked out! Haven't seen it in like a week! Maybe now I can finally put out that pumpkin project I mentioned before we went to the beach. It's just rained so much that I would have gotten soaked and it would have washed away! I'd better get at it Hugs, Leena

  27. Everything looks fantastic. Love the new chandeliers. Did your DH hardwire them in? It is so expensive to hire an electrician. I noticed you have decorated above your armoir. I have the same armoir, but I don't have anything to put up there. I will have a look around the house to see what I can find.
I hope you will find sunshine this week after such a trying last week. Get extra hugs from that good man of yours.
    *Hugs*

  28. Gosh darn! Totally forgot about Grey's Lake. I decided to check out LaPorte, IN and even though I enjoyed the drive, with little traffic, there wasn't much to see. It's the last one of the season so I think that had something to do with it. Those chandeliers are drool-worthy! And to have a hubs who can do the electrical... lucky on both counts. The chair with all those yummy, flouncy pillows made me smile! I'd say you did a good job creating some romance there, girl!!

  61. Dear Kris,

I LOVE your bedroom!!! It is gorgeous!!! I just wrote a note to Pamela, and realize I could just copy and paste the same question to you, if you don't mind! Here is what I wrote: (except the room I am wondering about for you is the color of your bedroom walls.....):

    Hi Pamela,

Well, have just spent a lovely evening looking at your blog, this blog, and lots of other blogs of commenters! And having lots of fun! I have a quick question, may I ask what paint color that is in your last picture on this post? It is the room that could be a family, or living room. And it has a kitchen off behind to the left, and the couch is kitty corner in the room. If you can, would you email me, to let me know please? I would be so grateful! We painted recently and my tan is PINKish, and I just hate it!!! So I am planning on painting soon! Well, hope you are able to help!

If you would email me back that would be wonderful!!! Hoping to hear from you!!

    Thanks & hugs from Michigan,

    Diane Carlson

  67. Graciousness, Kris! Ur killing me §:-)

I am planning to put a door as a headboard on my daughter's room (now a guestroom) but seeing this? I will definite, grab your idea and put into my BR. In fact, I want to change the style as I am in a cottage moody style. Duno what am talking about either. But I know when doors stand together, it will be as perfect as yours. Our nightstand is like yours since awhile now.

I love and drooling your ideas. Blesses U, dear.
