New Old Desk Re Love

Hello Sweet Friends.
The Brain Fog is lifting!!!

Let me thank all of you for coming by my last post. Sharing your wonderful information on some natural things you have had success with treating your autoimmune issues was so helpful.

I was hesitant to use my decor blog to write something so personal that I have been going through.
With all the caring and informative comments I  am glad I did.
I have had so many warm and wonderful caring comments along with personal emails full of wonderful information.

I am amazed at how many of us suffer with some of the same issues.

I have been a mess for a few weeks but am hopeful with some new things to try,  I will get to a better place with my fibromyalgia.

So from the bottom of my heart I love all of you taking time to share your experience and what has worked for you.
Hugs to all of you for your helping me and others.
Love our blogging community.

OK!!! Now onto the re love of an old entry way table I bought on Offer Up.  I got this to make into a new desk for my office area.

This is the cherry wood table I got on offer up to re love into a new desk for my office.

Here it is sanded completely down to the natural wood.  Thank you sweet Terry for having the patience and sander to get this accomplished.
Love that man!!!!
I was hoping the color of the wood would be more natural and not so red like you see in the picture.
I really wanted to leave it natural, however with all the red my only choice was to paint it white.

So I painted it with one coat to allow some of the wood to come through with less of the red.

Here she is all painted and pretty.  My little design assistant Buddy has his bed under my desk and loves to spend time there while I am on the computer.

In my three in one room this is the little corner of the room that is my office area.

My little cherub pen holder.  You can see in this picture how the wood does bleed through just so slightly.  I like this look.

I put the original hardware back on.  I liked the gold tone to the hardware.  I am looking for something sweeter and cooler for the desk drawer hardware.  For now these will work.

I love my Best Mimi Ever framed piece that I got from my sweet grands.
This is an old vintage curtain rod that I hung vintage baskets on to hold the little things over my desk area.

I like to use the vintage frames and baskets to organize my desk area.

So there you are.  This is my little space where I read your blogs and read your sweet comments on my blog posts and answer your emails.

Thank you for taking time to stop by.
Have a great rest of the week.
Living room is coming together and I will have some more to show in my next post.
Hugs,
Kris

  1. Oh my goodness, it looks so good! I love that you just put one coat of paint on, to let some of the wood come through. And that vintage curtain rod is such a sweet touch. I bet Buddy loves hanging out there while you blog. :)

  2. Hi Kris, I love the way your desk table came out. It looks great in the corner of the room and I love that you have Buddy's bed underneath the desk so he can lay there and be by your side when you work. I do hope that you are feeling better. Take care.

  10. I'm so glad you are already feeling better. I know that myself, with arthritis issues, I can't tolerate many fried foods or beef. It's not an allergy really---just something in these products--makes my body miserable. In my 40's...I eliminated PMS by giving up caffeine, chocolate, hard cheeses and processed meats. I hope you can eliminate your food triggers---and find a natural way to feel better. And, I love your desk---cherry is notorious for bleeding---so I hope it continues to blend with your 'look'. 12. Good morning dearest friend!!!! What a makeover, YEAH!!!!! Dainty, very Marie-Antoinette, very French! The open space and airy feel of this piece really goes well. HOW FUN to watch these transformations take place in your home!

  13. That looks amazing, Kris. Sanding that down had to be tedious, but it sure works better now in your color scheme, and in that space!
So happy you shared and got so many good replies. I read them, and will remember this to share for my family member who has the same AI. Thanks to all of Kris' readers!

  15. So happy to hear that you are feeling better and than you received so much loving support and info from others. Bloggers are wonderful!

Your new desk is so pretty! My desk space is AWFUL, so I will not share it the way it is looking. Your space is an inspiration to me to clean up my act and keep things more orderly. Whether or not that will happen, time will tell.

Love, hugs and continued prayers for you dear Kris ~ FlowerLady

  16. You ‘sound’ better Kris. Something in the tone of this post tells me you’re encouraged and I’m so glad.

You’ve inspired me to look at offer up. We’re trying to find a piano, either free or almost free to make into a bar like we did before but I’m amazed at how much stores are asking, not to mention the cost of moving it. I’ve posted on Freecycle with no luck but the search continues!

Your desk is perfect and after having removed paint from our kitchen table my hat goes off to Terry. That man is a keeper!

  17. Kris I love what you did with the desk. Letting the wood show through looks super. Your angles finish your desktop off with whimsy and a pretty soft touch.

Love the curves of the legs of the desk. Buddy being right by your feet is perfect

Your office area is adorable...what a beautiful place to sit and work on the blog! So glad you are starting to feel better! Hope it gets better daily! Love and hugs sweet friend!!

  19. That is beautiful, Kris. It fits your spot so well. I too, like the look of the slight bleed through. The desk is really pretty. What a peaceful place to blog and all. I can just picture Buddy curled up in his bed. My Buddy and Herbie also keep me company but they are too big to fit under my desk. Lol. Love the vintage frames around the baskets too. Ok, I love it all!
I'm glad your fog is lifting! Thankful you are finding alternatives!

  20. How nice that other bloggers were able to offer advice, and help you to feel better, Kris. I love your desk! Your work area is beautiful. The way you decorated around the desk is very pretty, and so YOU!! xo

  21. Kris that desk is totally gorgeous! LOVE how you are using it as an office base. You had such a great response to your Autoimmune questions, it's good to hear from so many like minded people. As I've said before, AI is so underdiagnosed; I think Fibro is basically an undiagnosed AI symptom.

  22. LOVE that desk. Terry did a great job sanding it all down. It's too bad that it was so 'red'after all that work. That being said I do love it painted white! It is perfect for that area. Looks like Buddy didn't want his picture taken...lol
Have a great day and hope you are feeling better and not in so much pain! xo Diana

  28. I am so glad you are feeling better and more hopeful about your allergies.
I'm sorry I didn't know about all of it...I take spells of being on or off the computer...still having trouble some days of getting one foot in front of the other.
I love your new desk....everything looks so nice.

  29. I’m so glad the fog is lifting! I hope that the suggestions shared from others will have some benefit and the fibromyalgia settles down. Love the new desk and the white finish. I was in love with a kitchen cupboard finish when we remodeled that was done in a white with the cherry showing beneath. It was out of my price range so I couldn’t get it but I neve forgot it. I use an iMac just like you!

  32. I love your little office area! I use a lap top in mine, but place books under it. My daughter has the same computer as you in her space at school, and it's great, because the images are so big. For future reference, in Home Depot I bought a a white stain, and I used it on my butcher block in the kitchen to make it whiter and it took the yellow out of it. I don't place food on it, directly so no big deal. It is a common name brand, but can't think of it. xoxo Su

  33. That desk is absolutely perfect for your office area - I love it! And I'm so glad to hear your brain fog is lifting. Even if your blog is mostly a home decor blog, there's nothing wrong with sharing personal information once in awhile. I think it makes one more "real" to the blogging community! Much love and good health to you. {{hugs}}

  38. Kris,
As I wrote in my post about Blogging, I think people are drawn to the blogs that are more personal and represent everyday people with everyday problems along with their creative ideas!! I LOVE how this desk came out and I love how you styled this sweet corner! Very pretty!! Glad to hear that you are feeling better.Since I have been sick, my knee is killing me and I just had a cortisone shot only 4 weeks ago,not good. I am back on the bike since I finally got my strength back so I hope that helps...
    Hugs,
    Deb
