Office Changes

When you live small you have to figure out ways to utilize every inch of your living space.
Our second bedroom in our tiny cottage home is what I call the three in one room.
It is Terry's home office and my home office space and also my make up area and wrapping paper, card storage area.

This is our last home to finally get all the orange wood trim painted and walls painted and room completed.  Then all the rooms in this small house will be done.  Yay!
We will only have the new flooring to install when the weather gets nicer in late Spring.  It will feel so great to have all the rooms renovated hopefully after this weekend.
Here is my before pics and hopefully after the weekend I will have the after pics for you.

As you can see we started to prime all the trim and doors.  Looks like a bomb went off in this room.  The walls will be painted a new color and trim will be white like all the rest of the house.

The french door leading out to the backyard will be painted and the entry door to the office and the closet door painted white.  This is the only room in the house without crown molding so that is a good thing with how much paint the trim and doors soak up.

In my office area I was hoping to find wallpaper for the wall behind my desk.  So far I have not found what I want and I am still on the hunt.  For now it will probably just get a new coat of paint after the trim is finished.

Terry side for his office area is going to get a darker gray wall or possibly a faux brick wallpapered wall.  It will highlight all his fire department things.

Quick story about the wallpaper picture on his computer.  I did not notice that was still on when I took the before pictures!
Many years ago in Terry's firefighting career there was a huge fire that they were fighting.
One of the photographers from one of the newspapers was covering the fire and took this picture.
The reporter developed the film, remember this was years ago before digital and seeing the pictures right away.
This is how the picture taken of the fire inside the window of the home came out.   Scary right?!!!
I'll let you all see what you think it is.
Terry has saved that picture on his computer for all these years and says it represents how evil a fire can be.
To me it is creepy but he looks at things in a different way than I do.
I like my little screen shot of flowers, sunshine and my lounger for my computer wallpaper!!!

Have a great weekend.

  1. Can't wait to see the changes.

To me that picture represents how fire is scary and to be taken seriously. It also is a reminder of how brave firefighters are every day to fight these fires for our safety. Bless them all

    Have a great weekend!

  5. Kris, The picture on Terry's computer is so scary to me. I love that he is a firefighter. I always admire them and the police. I like Terry's collectibles too. I think a wall covering like your sweet outdoor shot would be heavenly. Sunshine coming our way. Hooray. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. Wow, that screen saver is certainly evil, but is fitting of how I see fire and the destruction that follows. I can't wait to see the room transformation.....I know it will be amazing.
    Have a great weekend!!

  7. Fire is so serious. My daughter caught her nightgown sleeve on fire. She told me she wanted to run to me but remembered them teaching in school to stop, drop, and roll. Sometime after that she heard that the school district was no longer going to have those lessons and she wrote to complain and tell them her story. She will still explain this to little kids if the occasion ever arises.

  9. Good morning Kris!!!! You are getting there my friend; you are going to complete this project while the weather is still keeping us all inside, then once it gets warm, you are going to be outside making your magic for all to see. I'll be right there watching.

  12. I just told Brian how you guys are almost done totally re-doing your house after less than a year and pointed out how you're painting the trim...as I pointed out that our window trim is still faux brown wood after 30 years! lol Your office space will look amazing when you're done. I love how there's a french door leading outdoors.

  14. It is all going to look fabulous. Love your desktop wallpaper. Terry being a firefighter has his own story. Spring is around the corner. My hubby and I also share a computer room. We call our study. Happy weekend. xo

  15. Wow, Kris, that is scary and I agree with your preference but that sure does look like a monster inside that fire, and I suppose that is truly what it is. I love your ideas for the walls and I commend you that you take Terry's feelings into consideration by decorating his side just for him. I probably would have to include some lace along with it all!! hahah, but I do like your ideas. It will be perfect just like the rest of the cottage..xxoJudy

  18. Your chaise in the last photo was the inspiration for my chaise covers. I'm on the hunt for a new floral print for 2020.
