New Siding. Garden Flowers. Beverly Hillbillies

Hello Sweet Friends.  Happy New Week.

The siding is done.  Yay!!! It took a week with all the findings to fix underneath the layers of siding.  It amazes me how many issues can be hidden out of sight on an old house.  Now our 1949 built home is brand new.  New driveway, new garage and windows last fall, new roof and siding this week.  Gutters today.  We should be all set now with this old house.
The old siding was aluminum and pitted from years of hail damage.  The color was more of a darker sage green.  You can also see the old roof and how ugly that color was on the roof.

This is the new siding.  It is more of a gray green.  Hard to get a great pic of the color but it is much prettier and I like the thinner siding.  This is the siding they used on the garage so now they match.  The roof is brand new and a milder color from the old roof.
Ok!  if you look to the right of the pic you will see all the old siding and crap from them working on the house.  Pretty right?!  NOT!!!
This is the pile of rubble they left.  Apparently there is a dispute between the contractor company and the dumpster people.   Terry had a discussion with our contractor and he told him it has to go.  Dispute or no dispute you have to get this off our driveway.  Today they are suppose to come and remove it.  Looks like the Beverly Hillbillies live here.  Not sure Jed would even like this pile sitting on his driveway!

My climbers are wrapping around the post and angel.
There were vents to the crawl space hidden under layers of siding so we had them restore them and this will keep the crawl space from being musty.

Look how high my climbers on the arch have gotten.  I am so excited about these climbers.

Most of the climbing roses are yellow but every so often a peach color rose will open up as you see with these two.  Weird how they are all one plant but every so often one opens in a pale pink.
My knock out roses are doing their thing and well... knocking out roses.  Everyday I see tons more opening up.  They are intertwining nicely through the fence.  Talk about maintenance free!!! I just deadhead them when the petals are done and more then pop up.  They will do this into the fall until we get our first frost.

They are almost a hot pink color.

My birdbath area I made this year where we took out the dead tree is filling in nicely.

Terry found out there was enough siding and trim left from the house so he decide to cover his new shed to match the house and garage.  This is what it looked like before.

Now the shed matches the house and garage.  He still wants to touch up the trim paint but I think he did a great job with the leftover siding.

Wishing all of you a beautiful summer week ahead.

  1. You made it through! KRIS! Everything looks sparkling clean and pretty! I do like the more narrow siding and the color of the siding as well goes so nicely with the white trim. Your rose climber, hasn't this been a great year for roses? How fun that all we have to do is deadhead them, then more come up. My climber is also doing so well. Bravo and congratulations on a practically new house!

  3. Hi Kris! Gosh - that is a huge pile of stuff on your drive, awaiting collection. Another huge job completed. It all looks very beautiful now, you both must be so pleased. As for your flowers, they all look amazing and those roses certainly love where they are planted. Terry has done another wonderful job, on his shed. He is such a wonderful handyman. Hugs, Gilly x

Your roses look gorgeous too. I can't believe how big they have gotten. It's great they're going through the fence as you planned.

  5. Wow, that's terrible that the junk didn't get hauled away immediately after they finished the job. It all looks so good! I'm so jealous, I've been wanting to replace the siding and gutters in our 1969 house for years. Such a big difference, inside and out, since you moved in. You two sure know how to transform a home!

  8. It looks great Kris...except the pile of trash, ugh! How annoying! Terry did a wonderful job with his shed! How nice to have all new siding and all the buildings match. It all looks wonderful! Love your pretty roses. I wonder if I can get the deer to leave roses alone. I'd live to have some knock out ones. It's fascinating that your climber will throw out a peachy blossom occasionally. I can't wait for the day we add on the carport - Bruce intends to tie it into the roof so we will get a new roof then and hopefully rebuild the back porch roof too so it is higher. Old houses are "fun". Lol. Have a good week!

  12. Terry does a good job with everything he does. I love those peachy colored roses. I think before they come get the stuff off the driveway I might grab that chippy chair and the white shutters to use in some kind of future project.

  13. I think your house looked beautiful before AND after! We desperately need new siding, too. Ours is the original of the house (32 years old). But it's so expensive and we can only do one project per year. It probably sounds awful, but I always hope that we have a hail storm so that it damages the siding, so that insurance will pay to re-do it!

    Your flowers are amazing!

  15. It's all wonderful and I'm so glad you made it thru all the mess and hubbub without running away! Love the new siding and roof and how your hubby was able to do an update on his building. I need to pay more attention to my knockout roses. They are at the side of the house that I rarely get to so I need to spend some time deadheading spent blooms. Your street is so lovely, I'm sure everyone loves all the work you all have done! Happy Week, Kris!

  21. It's beautiful, Kris! That's amazing to have gotten so much done in such a short time of living there. I know your neighbors must be so happy to have you and Terry living in the neighborhood. It looks like Terry did a great job of installing the leftover siding on his shed. Your roses! Already this pretty so can you imagine what that arch will look like in a few years?

I have to ask about the meaning of the unique flag on the shed because I'm sure that there is one?

  22. Kris,
I hope all is settled regarding the waste management.
Your home looks wonderful. You are doing so well with roses. I have not had luck with roses, but you have inspired me to try. I have three roses in a new garden that I am building.
