Beautiful Angel Story and a New Crown and Christmas in the Bedroom

Hello Sweet Friends and Happy Friday.

I found a new crown for my Santo's angel.  You are not going to believe where I got it and how much I spent!!

I found this sweet sparkle crown at Walmart in the Christmas aisle for .96 cents.  Yep!  I am leaving it gold for now to give her a little contrast to the white but I may down the road paint it white.

Funny how when you are not looking for something and you come across something like this crown and say hey that might work.  Then it is even sweeter when you see the price is .96 cents.  Gotta love Walmart!

Now onto my little Christmas in my bedroom.  I did very little in this tiny house.  Just a little here and there.  This is on top of my dresser.  Two cute trees with fur skirt trim and my Madonna and a picture I will tell you the story about.

I needed a little Christmas twinkle in the bedroom and these cute trees lit up at night are just enough.

I have a great vanilla snow candle that was gifted to me and it makes the room smell soft and romantic.

Now the beautiful story about this color pencil drawing.  A beautiful friend of my mom's that lived upstairs from her in their senior apartments was married to an artist.  He became sick a few years back and was in the hospital with hospice and did not have very much time left.

One night before he died he asked his wife of 66 years if she would run home and get his drawing paper and supplies.  He was in and out of a coma but was very clear to her what he wanted her to do.  The Hospice nurse said it would not be long now so my mom's friend did not want to drive the half hour drive home and back to get his supplies like he wanted.  He was very insistent that she get them so she was torn on what to do.

There was a dollar store just up the street from the hospital and so she decided to go there and get some paper and colored pencils.  That way if he did regain consciousness he would not be disappointed in her and she could go there quickly and get back to the hospital.

When she got back to the hospital he was pretty much in a coma and breathing very slowly.  The hospice nurse told her again that it would not be long.  She sat in the chair next to his bed and held his hand.  Pretty soon she fell asleep in the chair and within about an hour the hospice nurse woke her and said it was time.  She held his hand and whispered she loved him and a sigh and good bye and he stopped breathing and was gone.

As she sat back down in the chair and was overwhelmed with loss she looked over at the end of the bed and saw a beautiful drawing.  It was the drawing you see above in my post that is framed.  It is of beautiful angels.  He had been telling her that he was seeing angels around him while he laid in his bed.  He wanted to draw them but needed his supplies.

So now she was sure this is what he was seeing right before he left to go to his heavenly home.  This is why he was so insistent on her getting his supplies.  She treasured this last drawing and the meaning it gave to her.

Now she makes a copy of this beautiful drawing and gives it to those that are going soon to their heavenly home.  She gifted my mom this right before my mom died and my mom cried and was so touched by the story and the meaning of this beautiful drawing.  Now that my mom has passed I have this beautiful painting to keep and remember my mom.  I hope she too saw the beautiful angels coming to escort her to her heavenly home.

Have a beautiful Friday and wonderful weekend.

  24. Kris you're not going to believe this but when I read that you were looking for a crown for the Santos I almost emailed you and told you about the gold crown ornament I bought from Wal-Mart but I was afraid you'd think I was crazy! Yup, it's the same crown! And guess what I thought when I bought it --"I can always paint it white later!" I kid you not. I am sitting here looking at my crown as I write this. I love it! So happy you found it too! The angel story brought tears to my eyes. It's a lovely drawing I'm sure you'll cherish. xo Kathleen

  28. Good morning Kris! You hadn't posted yet when I did my morning blog roll check early yesterday so I missed this amazing story.

First of all, WOO HOO you found a crown and the price is unbeatable! Sometimes Christmas ornaments make the best little treasures!

OK, now for the angel. So then, even though he had been in a coma when she got back from the hospital then fell asleep by his bedside, he woke up to do this drawing? It was unclear to me....it is STUNNING! This drawing has an important story that has been passed down twice now. I know you will keep it and it will be passed down to someone important to you.

I believe. When my mother was fading away from me, for the first time during her illness she became more animated and articulate than ever.As she started to die, she looked up and said in Spanish, "OH, HOW BEAUTIFUL!" I wept because I knew.

Let us believe and continue to show the world we do by the love we give.

  36. Oh Kris, I wish your story of the angels painting could be published in a book. What a powerful and moving true story! And the cover for the book should be your entire setting for the painting, no one could do it better. It proves to me that God's hand is often even in the small things we choose for our home for the comfort and beauty they bring us. I can easily imagine how it touches your heart and how grateful you must be that your mother got to see it. Thank you for sharing this with us and hugs to you, sweet friend!

  38. Kris,
Loved this story... As a nurse, I have heard many similar stories...There was a 98 year old woman that kept telling us about the angels in the corner of her room and how beautiful they were.... She passed away a few hours later..When her daughters came in, I told them that she was seeing angels and they were so grateful to hear that....What a beautiful remembrance of your Mom and her friend!! I hope you will not mind if I share this on FB....
    Hugs,
    Deb
