New Table for the New Year

Happy New Year and New Week.
I wanted to share with you the re love of the small table and chairs.

This is where I had my Christmas tree.  It was so pretty in front of the bay window in the corner of my living room.  This is the space I was hoping to achieve a small eating area in the living space.

This was the table I purchased a few months back from my friend Janet that owns and operates Lucky Junk.  It is such a cute table and I really would have liked to keep it in the natural wood.  The top even with sanding just was not working.

I tried to just paint the top of the table white but it looked too funky.  Forgot to take a picture to show!  The whole table got painted legs and all into my signature white.

Here is how it turned out.

It blends in nicely with all my other white furniture.

Excuse my wrinkles on the slipcovers.  I do not iron lol!
They will work themselves out as we sit on the chairs.
Today was a gray and snowy cold day.  I love this room when the sunshine is out.  It fills the room with lots of pretty brightness and warmth.  Not today :(
Now we have a little place to sit and have coffee and tea and look out to the front yard.
I have a real issue with blocking the bay window so I think with keeping the table and chairs like this it does not block the window.

We were promised sunshine this afternoon but so far the sun has not come out.  I do not mind the snow and cold it is these long winter days with no sunshine that get to me!
Have a great new week.

  1. You made it work my friend. It is the right size and it gives you just enough room to navigate the room and enough space to sit, eat and have a cuppa. Cozy for sure!

  4. It looks beautiful!! It's so fresh and bright, even in the snow. I can only imagine how pretty it looks in the sunshine. You know I've always wanted to ask you, what exactly is your signature white paint? What do you use? It obviously works very well and has staying power. Do tell! xo

  15. OMGoodness,, Kris, I love it! I think the all white is perfect, and it will reflect light around your room. I also like the placement as the table and chairs don't block your window. I like the wrinkles: very shabby chic.

  17. Such pretty slip covers. Do you do the painting of all the things, or does Terry. I used to paint, but now I leave it up to my husband.

    1. Both of us paint. I have to admit that Terry does most of the painting of furniture. He has the patience to do it but I still paint too! Hope you are doing well. I have not seen you in a long time. Thanks for stopping by. xoxo

    1. We usually do not bump knees so far.  We can pull the table out with the space there and it fits two people nicely.  It is position like that to look neat but we can pull it into the room more when we use it.  Happy New Week. xoxo

  21. Happy new year Kris. I love this pretty little table you painted. It looks just perfect painted all white and it looks great with the chairs. What kind of paint and color did you use? Did you use primer or does the paint come with primmer already in the mix? You are the painting queen! Hope you have a nice week.

    1. I use Behr white cabinet paint and I do believe it has primer in it. I love cabinet paint because it is completely washable. Happy New Year.

  22. Love it Kris! That white paint is so bright and the table looks brand new! Love where you put it. I can imagine sitting there reading my book and drinking tea. Now it just needs that pretty blue rug you used to have in that space, or a smaller one. I always did love that blue (checked?) rug! As usual, you guys worked your magic! Marilyn

  29. Very pretty, Kris. That window is spectacular, and the table and chairs are the frosting on that lovely cake. :) Now you can really enjoy that spot. I know what you mean about overcast, gloomy days. We had so many on those in Oregon over the winter. So depressing. This is one thing I love about Colorado. Just about every day in the winter we have at least an hour or two of full sunshine. Usually much, much more. I find I deal with the winters much better here because there is more sunlight. Hugs and much love for the new year. Nancy

  30. Hi Kris - it all looks perfect! It is much more 'you' and it still leaves plenty of room, so as not to block your beautiful bay window. Hoping that the sun comes out soon. Hugs, Gilly

  33. Kris,
It is just perfect!!! Such a charming space!! Just like you said, we have different tastes...I like color and you love white but that does not mean we can not appreciate each other's homes!! Too bad this can not be applied to Politic in this Country.....Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

  34. Very pretty! Will you eat some meals there or will it be used as a place just to sit and chat or have a cup of coffee?

  35. I don't iron either and I appreciate your keeping it real! It really is lovely -- I like the idea of having that little corner with all that beautiful light! I could see myself turning that into my little art table, with all that great light shining in. It looks quite perfect there. All good wishes for a happy new year! ~ jeanie from Marmelade Gypsy
