Stacked Vintage Frame Mirror

Before I show you my re love of my layered frames.  I want to show you a cute chippy wood heart dish and saying I purchased from a very talented artist.  Her name is Julie Norkus and she paints the most beautiful treasures.  She is in a few of the shops I frequent. Back in the day she did lots of market shows you know before Covid.  I love her work and have several pieces of beauty from her.  I love to support small business.  If you would like to see some of her work you can visit her shop page Julie Norkus Fragments here and her FB Page here.

I had this beautiful psalm in these vintage piled frames for the longest time.

All Terry had to do is pop out the psalm on canvas.  He had already layered the three vintage frames some time ago.

He cut a piece of mirror and inserted it into the back of the frame.  He then attached a backing piece of thin wood to hold the mirror in place.

I wanted a mirror to put over my small dresser.  I think this gives some texture to the wall with the frames all different designs.

I thought maybe I would add a wreath to the mirror that I had to match the curtain floral tie.

It looked pretty and had the green and white like in the curtain tie back but it just seemed too big.

I will look for something a little smaller or just leave the mirror plan.  I just thought the wreath gave the mirror a little color and texture.  Just was too big.  I will figure out something else.  Have a great start to the new week.

  2. That layered mirror is fabulous! How did Terry cut a mirror? I love that wooden bowl, too. I took a look at the artist's page and see she sells things at the Half Full Nest in W Dundee. I've been there, so I've probably seen her things. Hope you had a good weekend!

  3. Good morning, Kris! You and Terry....what a great team you make! That is gorgeous. Now you are giving me an idea! I have this awesome, old thick frame with a small opening that I am thinking I'll make even smaller by inserting a smaller frame in the center. That would really give a lot of texture. Oh the fun things we can make during this time of being at home!

  4. Kris, that's so pretty! A candle wreath would probably be the perfect size for the mirror. Monica in PA

  6. Kris, that bowl is beautiful! Love the saying too.

Terry is amazing and I love the frames stacked. I really like the mirror plain. Beautiful addition.

I got my wish or maybe curse. We are getting slammed today with major snow.

  7. So very pretty! Love layered, textured pieces. The wreath over it is just perfect. I have an old mirror that came from the home where my girls' dad grew up. They had blocked up an gorgeous old fireplace and removed the mirror...sinful, I know! Anyway, I hung the mirror in our living room and have been putting seasonal wreaths on it. Stay warm, if your weather is anything like ours. xoxo

  8. Love the stacked frames! What a great idea to put a mirror in it. I like the idea of a wreath there...maybe you could hang it above the mirror? But yes, I like the bit of color it brings.

  14. Oh, yes! I love the stacked frames mirror. What a beautiful piece! Now you've given me an idea of what I can do in an empty space I have in the living room. I've been wanting to put a mirror on the wall there, but just not sure what it should be. However, now I know! I'll be on the lookout for frames to use for this. Thanks so much for the inspiration, Kris! Hugs, Nancy

  23. Hi Kri, I remember how much I loved what you and Terry did with those beautiful frames. I really like the mirror. A mirror always makes things brighter and pretty..I didn't even turn the computer on last week so I didn't tell you how pretty the doors turned out. That is similar to the paper in my kitchen..Stay well..xxoJudy

  25. I really love the idea of those tiered frames and it certainly looks amazing with a mirror inside. The wreath is beautiful too, but agree that it is too big. I know that you will figure out the perfect addition in time Kris. How about the wreath with less foliage in the centre of it, so that the mirror can be seen more. Hugs, Gilly
