Kitchen Inspiration

The next two pictures are the new kitchen in the condo we are purchasing.  I have a vision for this kitchen.  Cross between farmhouse and cottage chic.

It is going to be a shame to have this old vintage stove taken away.  It is pristine on the inside.  I do not think this lady used it much over the years.  I almost thought of keeping it because of how beautifully clean and new it was for such an old piece.  It will be going for a new range to take its place.  All the upper cabinets will be coming down.

After taking down the upper cabinets I will paint the bottom cabinets and add new hardware.  After the upper cabinets are down Terry and I will shiplap the walls.  Then new open shelves and decor pieces will be added to the shiplap walls.  That ceiling fan will be going too!  Where she has her table and chairs right now is a short wall and longer wall you cannot see in this pic.  I will be putting in new fun things in this corner.  More cabinet storage space and maybe a fun coffee bar.  Still thinking this through.  I need to get in there to really get a feel for what I want in that space.

All of the next pictures are inspiration pics off of Pinterest.  I want open shelves but with corbels.  I ordered four sets of corbels and are waiting on those to arrive.

Liz Marie has open white shelves with white corbels in her pretty farmhouse kitchen.

I hope to achieve a look close to these open shelves with corbels.  My corbels are more solid white and not chippy.  I do like the white corbels with the natural wood.

I cannot wait to close on the new place and start the re love of this place into Junk Chic Cottage #5.

It is fun to go on IG and pinterest to find great inspiration.
Have a great rest of the week.

I know you are going to thrill us and yourself with the new ideas. The corbels are going to add so much charm. Any thoughts on what type of stove you'll be getting?

  7. I love every single one of these inspiration photos! I am going to pin some of them for my own kitchen inspiration! I don't know if I want open shelving or just have glass inserts put on the front of a couple of my cabinets. I know I want subway tile, but if we did open shelving, wouldn't they have to drill holes into the subway tile? I don't think I want to deal with that. I dunno...I have a lot more research to do!

    1. At this part of our lives we are ok with letting go of having a big garage and work area and outside. We want to get where we are not tied down with these things and have our weekends free. The grounds are beautiful and they plant around the place so it will be very pretty. The walking in there is gorgeous so we will have lots of trails to walk. Terry will have garage space with a place for most of his tools and storage. So that is all good.

I hope your closing and move goes smoothly. Where are you? New England? looks sort of like somewhere on the east coast. I am in Northern Virginia.

  19. I had a similar stove in a condo I bought. The appliance at the top was a small oven NOT a microwave. I loved it and considered taking it for my next house and still kinda wish I had. I had never seen that combination before. As a single gal I used the small oven most of the time.

  25. Kris, I love open shelves. When we renovated our kitchen, it was before I knew anything about blogging or Pinterest. Had I known I would have had some open shelving. I can't think of anything prettier than a cross between Liz Marie and Kris Vavra. I am looking forward to gorgeous!!..Stay well..xxoJudy

  26. You will make that place look totally different, and in a good way! You guys better be careful, they'll want you two to do all sorts of projects within the HOA!

  27. All of your inspiration ideas are beautiful. Looking forward to your personal touch in your new home. That must have been one humongous mansion before it was converted to condos. Love all the windows & I think it will provide gorgeous views especially being on the third floor. I know you said you were heading on a new path & that it was a long story. I hope that these new changes are not due to negative health circumstances for either one of you & are changes being made due to Terry’s work or perhaps to live closer to loved ones. Best wishes on your new journey!

  30. I do love the white kitchens with the wood shelves and white corbels. Could you let me/us know where you found the wood ones that are white? I looked at both big box home goods stores and they don't have them. Your condo seems so BIG!! Were you tired of your small cottage? And I too was wondering how Terry was going to get by without a garage and shop, and you without glowers, window boxes, a picket fence, etc. I can only assume that maybe you just got tired of all the upkeep of a yard and deck, flowers, etc. What will happen to your darling darling sweet SHE SHED????? I'm still wondering why you chose to move or had to move? For Terry's job or??? maybe I missed the post.. but am curious why you would leave your sweet Cottage #4. You put so much work into it. Sometimes I too think (just a little) about how nice it would be not to have a yard to take care of, and also the house exterior, which needs cleaning always, washing off, getting rid of cobwebs, etc. and caulking spots here and there, and washing all those windows! Ugh. I hope your condo association takes care of all the windows! xoxo Marilyn
