New Beginnings Hopefully Soon

Our home inspection went well.  A few minor things to fix up.  Waiting on the Radon report to come back and if all is well we will be moving on to the next hurdle of the buyer getting her financing all set to close on April 30th.

In the meantime we are still homeless!

The picture above is an old mansion that was converted to condos some years ago.
This is in a beautiful neighborhood on the golf course.

The minute we drove down the winding roads to this address and then stepped inside these vintage and charming estate condos we were blown away by the charm and location.

We put a good bid in over asking and have a good down payment with the April close but unfortunately we did not win the bidding war.

I was so bummed and disappointed.  I thought how great to find something so unique and charming.

We would be leaving our charming home and this charming condo in a great location.

Unfortunately someone else won the bid.   While I am sad and disappointed I know there will be something better out there for us.

We are in a crunch but not in a panic just yet.  Hoping and praying something in this charming building will again open up for sale or we will find another condo soon.

Have a beautiful week ahead.  Keep good thoughts and prayers going we will find a new place soon.

  2. I've been thinking about you...so sorry you didn't win the bidding war for this beautiful condo, but that means there is something even better out there for you. I remember when we were house hunting (31 years ago!) and we thought we found the house of our dreams, bid on it, then didn't get it. We were young and had a two year old and another baby on the way. I cried because I thought this was really THE house. Lo and behold, the house we live in now came on the market and we got it. And it's better than the original house we bid on. There's always a reason. I know the perfect place is out there for you guys and that all will work out. {{hugs}}

  4. Oh Kris....first of all, what a GORGEOUS place! This was once a stand-alone home? Amazing. And with the age of the property, I can imagine that the individual condos must be full of character! So you are waiting for another unit to open up in this building? I hope things work out for you to get a space in this place and then again, there are other places. I wish you success my friend, as you go out into the unknown. BIG HUGS and many wishes and prayers for your new home!!!

  6. I hope you all are able to win a bid on another one in this location if availability, soon! It sure does look charming..wow. So sorry you had to be disappointed..been there before...and I don't know about you..but once before on our first home purchase..I was already mentally arranging our furniture in there, and when it did not work out..I was so disappointed.. :0( .. But..you are so creative..I know whatever works out..your head will spin quickly to make it your cozy and personal heaven. :0). Like a phrase in a bluegrass song we know: "life's a journey, not a destination".. Best wishes on this journey for your Family.. x0x0

  9. Glad the inspection went well! How disappointing not to win the bid on the condo. I hope something comes up for sale soon or you find someplace equally charming. Bidding wars are only good if you're the seller. Frustrating for the buyer! Praying for y'all!

  15. So sorry that you were not successful with your bid. Yes - it does look gorgeous, but as others have already said, it was just not meant to be and I'm also sure that something better will come up for you. It was like that for us, the sale of our cottage fell through and I was devastated, but when it did sell, our perfect home came up for sale, and here we are. I hope that all continues to go well on your sale and that perfect home for you comes onto the market very soon. Hugs, Gilly

Did Terry have to transfer his job again to somewhere else? are you staying in the same area? It's sad to see you leave your darling cottage #4!!! I'll go search your blog and see if I can find the answers! hugs... Marilyn

  24. So sorry that you did not win the bidding war on this beautiful condo. When my parents got older they considered moving to a condo. Often association fees are quite high. They decided that paying for lawn care & snow removal would be less than having to pay the condo fees. They were happy they made the decision to stay in their home. I say this because if you enjoy being in a small home maybe that can still work for you & be more economical. I’m sure you have looked at the pros and cons & will make the best decision for the two of you. Hoping the perfect home comes to you soon !!!
