Move in Day

This living room and dining room has been completely transformed.  The carpet gone.  New planked floors installed and that wallpaper covered with shiplap and burgundy walls painted in Bit of Sugar Behr paint.

We are finally having our move in day to the new condo.  We have worked hard to make our changes to this new place.  There have been some little bumps and a few big bumps in the road this past week.  Transformation is not always easy.

The floors are in and the flooring guy is finishing up the trim work this morning.  Then I will clean and our movers come at 2pm today to move in our furniture.  Those counter tops in the background are installed in the kitchen and all appliances are pretty much in.

I apologized for these pics.  It was a very overcast day in the later evening when I took these.  I will have better pictures to show the house once our things are moved in and decorated.  Those folding chairs have been our furniture and resting place for our breaks.

This was one of the before kitchen pics.  The floors are gone.  All the appliances gone and new butcher block counters put in.  We decided to keep the cabinets and paint them.  The doors were so old and falling apart we had to order new door fronts from Home Depot.  I hope when those come in they will look good.

The dishwasher is not installed just yet they needed us to have the countertops in.  I will call them today and they should be able to come soon to install the dishwasher.

This was the original entryway.

This is the entryway after painting and tearing out the floors for the new planked flooring.  Here is Buddy on one of his trips over to the condo.  He is not sure about all of this construction and keeps wanting to go back to his home.  Poor guy so confused.  He is loving being at my daughters with her three dogs but he is tired like Terry and I and he just wants to go home!!!!  You can see where the firemen kicked in the front door.  At least the deadbolt is in tack until the new door arrives to replace this one.   The white walls make things so much brighter.

This is why we could not move in yesterday.  The floors in the bedroom were cemented to the floor underneath.  That poor floor guy spent 8 hours getting the floors up and cement removed.  I felt so badly for him.  That delayed us one day to get moved in too.  All is good he got up all the flooring and cement and new floors put in.

I promise I will have better pics as we begin to move in and decorate.  We will move our stuff in today but stay with my daughter until Sunday night.  With all the activities this weekend and babysitting the girls on Sunday and no new bed yet we will not officially be competely moved in.

This has been a very long week with many setbacks.  One of the biggest being Terry and I were hanging shiplap and he was up on a ladder and it completely gave way and busted.  He fell backwards to the hard cement floor.  Lucky for him the ladder actually broke his fall from hitting the cement with his hip and back.

Unfortunately his elbow hit the hard floor and shattered.  He had to go to the ER and then he saw the orthopedic the next day.  We were lucky he did not need surgery.

We were fortunate to have a lot of the bigger things done when this happened this week.  I have been doing a lot of the heavy lifting to finish up things.  I have to tell you I am not bouncing back as quickly as I have in the past moves!  My body has been screaming!

We are near the finish line and I am happy for that.

I will not bore you with all the other setbacks but I will say we accomplished a lot in a week and we are ready to start our new journey in condo living.

Wishing all you mom's out there a beautiful day on Sunday.  I will be back with better pics and lots of new things to show you.
Hugs,
Kris

  2. Kris, your condo looks absolutely gorgeous already! You guys are so amazing at getting things done, I just can't believe it. I am SO sorry to hear about Terry's fall and broken elbow. I guess if we look at the glass half full instead of empty, it's that he didn't need surgery. Thinking of you and hoping all this work and moving in is done soon so you can get some much needed rest!

  10. Hi Kris,
Oh my goodness, so thankful to hear Terry did not get hurt any worse. Course, what do they do for a shattered elbow. I am surprised no surgery, but glad to hear that he didn't need it. Wow, yall have really transformed that place so much already, so glad you were near the end of all the painting and stuff. It's gonna look grand when you get to decorating it, know you are looking forward to it. Your floors look beautiful, and know the whole place will be beautiful before you know it. Did Terry decide to retire for sure now......I was just thinking it might be good if he did decide that with his elbow and all. Gracious.....life is never dull is it??
Glad yall are taking the weekend to get rested up. Hope you have a really lovely Mother's day and above all that it is peaceful, quiet and restful for you.
    Thanks fo stopping by too.
    Blessings Galore hon,
    Nellie
Will put Terry back on our prayer list, just took you off once I thought yall were moving in......lol
