Just for Fun

 My sweet friend Diana at

Nana Diana Takes A Break Blog

started a fun learn about your blogger friends for all of us to partake in and if you would like you can continue this and put up information about yourself on your blog.  All she asks is you let her know so she can put a link to your post.

This is a fun way to find out a little more about the bloggers we follow.

Here are the questions and my answers.  Join in the fun.

1.  Where do you like to vacation?
With Covid the last few years we have been doing staycations no plane rides.  I would love to go to Florida and Georgia.  I am a midwest girl born and raise but I always have felt there is a southern girl in me that wants out!!!!

2.  Do you have pets?
We have a cream color dachshund named Buddy.

3.  What is your favorite color?
I love all the pastel colors.  I don't think I have just one favorite.

4.  How many are in your family?
I have two daughters, one son in law and one new son in law to be this October.  I have two love of my life grand girls.  I grew up with 3 brothers and was the only girl.  One of my younger brothers has passed.  My mom and dad are both gone now.

5.  What is your least favorite thing to do?
Let's see.  I love to grocery shop but hate to bring it home and put it all away.  Laundry is probably a close second.

6.  What is your most favorite thing to do?
Ha ha for most of you that follow my blog you probably know I love to change up my decor.  I love to make my home pretty and comfy.

7.  If money were no object what would you like to do when you retire?  I think everyone says travel but I am really a home body.  I think I would love to start a small shop with cute decor things to sell.

8.   What is your favorite season?
I am a summer girl but I do love the fall months too.

9.   What book are you currently reading?
I am not currently reading a book but I have been watching some series on Hulu and Netflix.

10. What time do you go to bed, get up in the morning?
I am a night owl and usually am not in bed until midnight.  I still get up at 7 each morning.  I have found that I do not need as much sleep as I use too.

11. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for 12 years and it has been a great ride.  I have met so many wonderful people through my blog.  People that in life outside blogland I would have probably never had the opportunity to meet and become friends.

So now you know a little more about me.  If you want to join in here are the questions to post on your blog.  If you do not have a blog you can leave your answers here in your comment.

Thank you Diana for this fun blog post.  I love to get to know other people that follow our blogs or have blogs of their own.

Ok one more decor thing before I close.
This picture below is my kitchen reno.
Terry and I decided to to take out the rest of the wall in the
kitchen.
We are going to make an over hang so we can have island seating.
It lets so much more light into my kitchen.
With taking out the wall we need to continue the wallpaper.  Terry still have the moldings and trim to put back up.
We ordered new quartz counter tops and island top.
I am excited to have this space as open as we could get it.
Of course that load bearing post is still there so we are going to incorporate that into the island as you seen in some of my inspiration pics below.

The island is being made out of the cabinets on the kitchen side and then the over hang will come into the living room area where the clock is on the wall.  We put shiplap on the back of the cabinets.  I will get two stools to put up to the over hang.
These area a couple of examples of how the post can be incorporated into the island plan.

Hoping to get my counter tops installed in the next few weeks and then I can show you my project hopefully completed.
Have a good week.
xoxo Kris

which is no surprise really. lol Love what will be the new look in your kitchen, yes, I would imagine that adds a lot more light, and should look really nice and give you a
nice spot to sit or for someone else to sit if you are working in the kitchen. You guys always have great ideas and do a beautiful job pulling them together.

  4. I did comment on Diana's blog on one of my favorite things...double delight roses. Must tell you I've been wanting a dachshund for a super long time. We're older and have had labs the entire time we've been married (50 years). I finally got our little girl (she's 1 1/2yo) and I'm so nuts over her. My husband kept saying we don't want such a small dog. He is now crazy about her too. She is such a character. Yes, she's completely different from the labs but so comical.

  6. Kris- Thanks so much for doing this. You are a gem. LOVE what you are doing with the kitchen. That is the same thing we did in this condo. I wasn't here when it was done so my overhang is only 8" of white quartz. If I were to do it again I would go 12" to be able to use stools. OH well! Can't wait to see your project completed!!! Love ya- Diana

  7. Good morning beautiful friend! I think I've been blogging the same amount of years as you! I no longer blog but you and three other women are the only ones I check in on daily because the connections are so strong. It's fun to learn just a bit more about you! AND....I cannot wait to see what you do to this kitchen. I think that load bearing post will be beautifully treated as in the inspiration photos. This is going to be gorgeous!

  9. Kris, I love the idea of the overhang for so many reasons; seating, allowing more LIGHT in, and the connection to your dining room is a great way to serve food by creating a buffet type set-up when you are entertaining. I'm sure you will enjoy this great new space you are creating! Nice job!

  11. What fun! Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself. You’d have the sweetest little shop, I bet! I’m excited about your counter - having that open will really make your kitchen bright! Hmm, I wonder what color your countertop will be? 😉

  12. Your kitchen opening looks great! You are quite blessed to have a hubby who can do all he does (and with your help too!). We are in the middle of a kitchen renovation (8 weeks in with at least 4 more to go!) and creating an opening like that is something we did as well as widening the doorway to the living room to open things up. You and I are very similar haha . . . except in the travel department. I've flown more during Covid than ever because my first grand child was born in 2020! Nothing was going to keep me from him and my kids were begging me to come all the time . . . and still are! But NOW, no more bargain flights!

  17. Kris, I dread putting away groceries too! I love learning things I didn't know about my blogging friends. And the comments--loved it that Patty (who I don't know) now has a dachshund! Best kept secret in the doggy world, right?
