A New Clock and Sad News

As some of you know I have been searching for something to put on my open kitchen wall.  I found this old clock that was originally a rust color and thought it might work with a little tweaking.

Out came the paint and this rust colored clock got a few coats of pure white.

Now this newly wallpapered wall is no longer a blank canvas.
This clock is a start to decorating this wall.
I still am looking for a sweet
architectural piece or two to help enhance this wall.
The hunt is on!

Now to share some heart wrenching news.
Over a month ago Buddy passed over to the rainbow bridge.
I have been hesitant to share this deep loss here on my blog.
All I will share is that we had to make a heart wrenching decision that was to help Buddy and how he was suffering.
Our hearts are broken and sad but we know Buddy is over the rainbow bridge and no longer suffering.
His life here was a short one but one filled with much love.

He loved us and the home we gave him.

He loved celebrating his birthday and sharing his hamburger cake with my daughter's dogs.

He was a typical Dachshund and would take the belly rub position anytime someone came near him.
Oh how he loved those belly rubs.

He loved being outdoors on nice sunny days.  One of our favorite memories of him was how he loved to sprawl out on the deck and sun himself.

Oh how he loved car rides.  We took him everywhere with us.

I am just getting to the point with my grief that allows me to think of the good memories of him without feeling deep pain and sadness.

While his life with us was a short 4.5 years it felt like a life time.
He was such a love and one of the best rescue pups we have ever had in our family.

Good Bye Sweet Boy.
We will miss you always but keep you close in our hearts and remember our beautiful memories of you.

Have a good rest of the week.
xoxo
Kris

  1. Kris, your clock is beautiful and perfect for your wall...

I am so, so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Buddy. He was such a well-loved, sweet pup. I know how hard it is to lose a fur baby and to be open to talking about it "publicly". You will always feel immense love and heartache when talking about Buddy and looking at his photos. His spirit is always with you. xoxo

  6. Kris, I am so very sorry about Buddy. I have followed your blog for a while and loved seeing him. We lost our Rat Terrier a year ago and I know how heart breaking it is. He was 19 and he had a great life, but the loss was devastating to say the least. It takes time. Lots of prayers going out to you and your family.

  7. He was such a precious little guy. Always loving the camera, and remembering how he always "matched" your decor. I understand about losing our little fur babies, we lost both of our kitty girls this last year and it's still hard to talk about. I'm glad you're at the place that you can now. Sending a hug your way, take care, it takes a while to adjust without them. xoxo Deb

  9. Dear friend, good morning. Your new find for your wall is perfect. A lovely clock to keep time or if it's just a decoration, a lovely piece to wish upon and imagine time standing still so we can savor the love of friends, family and beloved pets a bit longer. But life does what it does and it hurts. I wish you peace my beautiful friend.

  20. So very sorry to hear of Buddy's passing. I always enjoyed seeing him keeping "guard" at the window in your posts. I have 2 granddaughter doxies who, when they stop barking when I visit (lol), are so very sweet! I've previously had a "grandson and granddaughter" doxie that we lost a few years ago and I miss them both terribly. Doxies are such characters! Sending love to you and your family as you cope with missing Buddy....

This was a good tribute to Buddy. A perfect way to share his life with us and remember. I love the photo of him "driving" he looks like he is concentrating on the road.

    I like the clock.

  25. I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Buddy :-( The loss of a beloved pet is one of the most difficult losses we endure. They give us such unconditional love and ask for so little in return. I lost my Buddy in Jan 2020 and my Bo in Oct 2021. I hope they greeted your Buddy and are showing him all the best places to wait for you at the Rainbow Bridge. If I know my Buddy, he'll be showing yours all the stinkiest cow droppings to roll in (one of the memories I can smile at now that some time has passed). Sending cyber {{hugs}} from Texas.

  26. Kris, I am so very sorry for your loss with your sweet Buddy. This makes me sad. I do not have any dogs but I do have three granddogs in which one I ADORE! Probably because he's an old soul and just so laid back. I love your clock. It's very pretty and elegant. Just like you dear Kris. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  27. Bless you Kris. It's the saddest thing to have to go through and Buddy was such a sweet little soul and a truly wonderful design assistant and it was always adorable to see him showing up in your photos of your makeovers. I can only imagine exactly what you are going through - although I can have a pretty good idea because I will never forget the huge sadness and loss that we felt when our GSD went over that Rainbow Bridge too. That was many many years ago and it's something that you never get over, but with time - it gets easier to manage. Sending huge loving and supportive hugs to you both xoxo

Cherish the memories and love he gave you. Hugs.. Marilyn

  43. I haven't been around the blog world much this summer. This popped up in my feed and I wanted to say I love the clock-it's perfect for the area.

And-you know my heart is broken FOR you and the loss of Buddy. I have cried every time I think of him and how much you miss him. My heart aches for the decision you had to make and, although I know it was the right decision, I know it killed you inside to have to let him go. I think of him running over the Rainbow Bridge with some good buddies. God bless you, my friend. Sending you lots of love! xo Diana

  44. I am so so sorry for your loss. You and Terry were such a blessing in Buddy’s life, as he was in yours. You have the same love for dogs as I do. I have always had furbabies that were throw away dogs, that nobody wanted or could take care of anymore. I loved and cared for them until the end of their lives and grieved so much. Then another furbaby came along that needed a home and I fell in love again. I have a collage of pictures of my babies I talk to every day. It helps. You two are in my prayers to find peace in knowing what a wonderful life you gave Buddy.❤️❤️❤️

  45. I can hardly bear to think of this happening to your darling handsome Buddy, Kris. And to know of what these weeks must have been like for you without him. I know he was so blessed to have you and Terry and you were to have him, but oh the hole in your heart to lose him so soon. Thinking of you.

  46. So sorry to hear of the loss of Buddy. Nothing hurts like the loss of a fur baby. They are so innocent and pure and don't deserve to suffer. I know from experience that it's difficult to talk about the loss because so many people think of them only as pets. To us they are family members who give unconditional love. I hope you find comfort in the realization that you gave Buddy a life filled with love and all the pampering he deserved. Hugs

Just wanted to come by and see how you are doing? Thanks for coming by today and for your sweet comments. Looked at all your pics of Buddy again, that is such a sweet tribute and one you will be glad you posted in time. Will be nice to look back on and remember. Hope you are having a nice weather up there. It is hot and rainy here. The overcast skies do make it easier to work outside for a little bit anyway. You take care ......thinking about you and praying for you.

  54. Hi Kris, I don't normally leave you messages but visit you regularly. My lil man Gizzy crossed over the bridge last fall. He held me up for almost a year after losing my husband of 45 years to illness. I cared for my husband at home, where he passed and Gizzy was my reason to get out of bed everyday. They are more then pets, they are family and after they cross, I believe they will all meet us after we cross our bridge. I'm not telling you this for sympathy but to remind you of all the love you gave your lil belly rubbing beggar, would want you to open your heart and home to another sweet soul in need. They leave a big hole in our hearts that can never be filled by another. I swear that over the years my beloved furbabies when gone, are up there setting up the next one to send to us if we're open I rescued a lil Yorkie named Maggie after losing Gizzy and I swear he is whispering in her ear .. Mama likes this, but not that! I miss that lil man everyday still, I also cared for him at home through his illness after my husband less then a year. It was hard but I knew when he was tired and made that call to my vet. I was totally heartbroken and all alone. But I moved on forward and contacted rescue groups until I found my newest companion. Now she is my reason to get out of bed everyday. But the loss is never forgotten but the memories and love survive as you create new memories and love with a new furbaby. Stay strong my sweet friend!

    1. Oh Pendra.  First I am so sorry and tears are flowing down my face hearing of your hubby's passing.  He was your heart and your life.  I am so sorry.  Then to lose your Gizzy.  I am sure your grief is so deep and at times unbearable.

I am glad you found it in your heart to find another and have a sweet Maggie now in your life.  They do give us such unconditional love and support.  They say we rescue them but I think they rescue us.  I am so happy with this new sweet fur baby.

They do give us good reason to get out of bed and take care of them as much as they take care of us.  That helps your grief process so much.

I was driving my car one day and I always had my co pilot Buddy always by my side.  I felt so sad and heart broken to not have that anymore.  He went everywhere with me.  Then I looked out the window at a stop sign and there in the prettiest white cloud with the light blue sky was a cloud shape of a dachshund with angel wings.  I kid you not!!!!!  I wish I would have thought to take a picture but did not.

That was such a gift.  I know it was Buddy telling me is out of pain and happy in heaven over the rainbow bridge.  I think God puts people and messages in our path when we need them most. This was truly a gift and something so special for my broken grieving heart.

I am glad you got an even better message with Maggie coming into your life.
Thank you for coming on and leaving your message I know that was hard to write.
I will keep you in my prayers sweet friend.  I believe they never leave us and are always near until we all meet again someday.

      Big Hugs,
      Kris
