Refresh of the Bathroom

I don't know about you guys but I have never been a fan of ceramic tiles with grout.  Actually anything with grout!  It is hard to keep clean and white.
When we bought this condo the owner had just re done this bathroom. She decided to not. only put the tiles on the floor but also half way up the walls.

Not a look I would have gone for but to each his own!
It must have been very expensive to have these tiles put up the wall.
I do not think it looks hideous or anything,  I just do not like the look or how much cleaning energy goes into having these on the floor and walls.

So what's a gal to do?!  Well... I got Terry on board to put up beadboard or wainscoting.
The tiles are thick and would be a huge task to get them off the wall.  Not only the mess but the noise and being in a condo we are trying to be respectful to our neighbors.

So you are probably thinking hmm with how thick those tiles are on the wall how will they be able to put up bead board flat to the wall without taking down the tiles?
We have a plan and I hope it will work out.

I think the headboard is going to give me a more cottage look.

We are going to show you what we do to make this look good and yet the tiles underneath will be unharmed.
Just in case we sell one day and the buyer wants this look back.

As soon as we are done with this project I will do a post on this before and how the after comes out.
Stay tuned.
In the meantime have a great rest of the week.
xoxo
Kris

  5. Really looking forward to seeing how you do this, as I have the same situation in my master bath in the home I bought three years ago. I’m not as fortunate though to have that pretty white marble…mine is a dingy beige color 🤢.

  9. Kris, I am anxiously waiting to see what you come up with. I know the beadboard goes with your cottage look. Keeping the expensive tile is smart incase a new owner wants that look. I will stay tuned sweet friend. xoxo

  10. Good luck with the project. We had tile floor in the kitchen, we tore it up. I did not like it.We put in wood floor in the kitchen to match the rest of the house, we now have a wood floor house, with just a small section of tile where our shower is in the one bathroom, but someday, that just might be gone too. Hee Hee!
Looking forward to seeing the results. Have fun!

  19. They did a nice job with the tile, but I can see why you want to change it, as it's not your style. The beadboard will be great. Can't wait to see it. Hugs.
