Laundry room reveal and Michigan found treasures

Last Weekend we took a ride on Saturday to a few of my Michigan Shops.  I love that we are only an hour to 2 hours from my shops.  We can take the beautiful ride along the lake up to Michigan in a day.

On this trip I found an old chippy mantel.  Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the mantel before Terry and his trustee tools took it apart to make two new pieces for the new place.
Yep,  I had a vision for this mantel.
So above you see it.  Top of the mantel is now a shelf in my
kitchen on that wall where we took down cabinets for the laundry room.
It is chippy and fun to have in the kitchen.

Here is one of the two legs of the mantel.  I will show you soon what these are going to become.  Waiting on something to come I ordered.
I am using  these to make new decor pieces.  Stay tuned!

Ok remember this buffet that we made into the tv stand.  Well........

It is now in the kitchen being used as a buffet!  The smaller buffet I had in here is now in my daughter's house.  It was musical buffets this past weekend lol!

Here is the new TV stand we found on our trip to Michigan.  Very primitive but somehow I knew I could make it work in my neutral cottage.

I knew it would look good with all the other neutral decor around it.
Now onto the laundry room.

I stepped out of my white and neutrals for this laundry room.  I found this peel and stick wallpaper on Amazon and thought it might work.
The beauty of peel and stick,  it is not expensive like traditional wallpaper and the commitment is not as strong.  If you do not like it or want a change you can peel it off the wall.  No scrapping or sanding.

It is hard to capture a room with no natural light or windows but this paper is bright and cheerful.  We all need cheerful when we do laundry!
The CooCoo clock got hung in here.  My daughter brought that back from Germany for me.

The ugly fire door to the garage from the laundry room got a new coat of paint.  All the brown dated trim painted to white.  It is busy paper but it makes this laundry room a happy place.

It is still a work in progress.  With only being here 5 weeks we have done so much.  Now I need some time to figure out decor etc.  That is going to take some time to decorate walls etc.
At least all the painting and big jobs are done.

Tomorrow is going to feel like Christmas to me.  My counters tops are being installed.  Yay!!!  Gosh I hope with all this hassle and waiting they will look fabulous.  I can't go there in my head!  I am telling myself they will be beautiful.
My friend and fellow blog friend Diana from Nana Diana told me she had Home Depot do her kitchen counters and out of all the houses she has done this in her kitchens she said the Home Depot counter tops were the nicest.
Keeping that thought and my fingers crossed.

The bathroom vanity top and the kitchen counter tops and new sink will go in tomorrow.

Then on Friday they will come back and laser measure for the back splash and then install those next week.
Then the big projects will be done.  I will have my bathroom done and my kitchen complete.
I am very excited.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and Happy New Week ahead.
Hugs,
Kris

  3. I’m sure you will have better luck with Home Depot counter install than we did (in Waco). The installer was running way behind, so I’m pretty sure that is why he did a drop in sink instead of undermount, but the entire experience was very unpleasant.

    1. Oh Geez I hope we have better luck than you did. Sorry to hear that. I guess each Home Depot depending on state and area uses different makers for the counter tops so maybe with you being in Waco and us in Illinois we will have better luck. I have talked to two other people that used Home Depot and had really good experiences. I hope that for us. With all this before hand stuff of getting the material to the counter top maker I wonder too if this might not be a great experience. Praying tomorrow they will go in without issue and will look fabulous. Thanks for letting me know about your experience. So sorry you had that happen. Kris

  4. Kris, I love the wallpaper in the laundry! And that shelf on the kitchen wall looks great. I can't wait to see the countertops and full kitchen. Love the way you swapped out the TV stand too. The new old one looks great. I think I love this look even better!
MI being only 2 hrs away is a great destination, whether it's shopping or just getting away for vacation. I'm so happy for you!

  5. Love the chippy shelf from the mantel! I have a guess what you’re doing with the legs but I will wait and see if I’m right! The new tv cabinet is cool! And I love the wallpaper in the laundry room. I’m going to say the counters will go in with no issues! Why borrow trouble before it happens? 😊. I’m sure they will look great too. Y’all have accomplished so much. You can feel proud! Sending positive vibes your way.

  6. I am loving the laundry room. While I know it is a bit out of your comfort zone it is still quite neutral and feels like 'nature' to me. What a fun place to do laundry. I have to get my laundry room door painted this fall, too. It's white but needs a fresh coat of paint.

I PRAY your countertops go as smoothly as mine did-the install was perfect and I have had these 4 years now and not one complaint with them...and you know how picky I can be! Can't wait to see them and see the kitchen and bathroom finally close to being fully done!

That piece makes a perfect buffet in your kitchen! Happy October, my friend. xo Diana

  7. I love the wall paper in the laundry room. It is really cute. I am going to look into wall paper over the months (they have not even started our house yet,.... but the neighbors quad section is getting assembled.) We have plenty of time. In fact, I have not been stressing about packing for anything hhaaaa
I love the new tv console. It looks very accommodating for hiding stuff too.
    Happy Tuesday

  12. Everything is looking so good! Love the mantel shelf in the kitchen. How did you paint the faux brown trim - did you have to use Kilz or some kind of special primer first? And second question - what material countertops did you get from Home Depot? I can't decide between quartz or quartzite.

  15. Kris, the mantel shelf is perfect and I have an idea of what you are doing with the legs. Will let you know if I was right when you get them done. The buffet looks great in the kitchen and will give you more much needed space which we can all use in our kitchens. The wallpaper is beautiful. It looks so bright and cheerful and charming and bet it is perfect in person. You have done more in a few weeks than I have done in years! I love it all, my friend..xxoJudy

  16. Well, there's really much for me to say, except that it's all GORGEOUS! I love the wallpaper, the new pieces, the way you have styled the decor and the fact that you did it in record time and enjoy a trip to shop in the middle of it all! The clock caught my eye my eye immediately...darling! Oh - and we had Home Depot do both of our kitchens and the countertops were fabulous. Great install, worn well. I bet they looks great! xo
