Re love of Cottage Armoire

Remember this old armoire I found on FB Marketplace.  It does not look like it but it was banged up in many spots and no shelves or handles.

Terry put on a coat of white cabinet paint.  It smoothed out the surface and got it ready for color.  With Fusion paint you do not have to do this step.  We decided to do it to make the surface of the piece smooth.

As you can see on the first door I decided on the Fusion Cashmere to paint the cabinet.

Fusion paint is a mineral base paint so you do not need to sand or prep your furniture except to make sure the piece is clean.  This paint usually covers in one coat and cures to the furniture.

This is one coat.  It covers really well.

The inside of the cabinet was not in the greatest shape so we put on two coats to cover this well.  Plus we were going to add shelves and I wanted everything to blend.

I debated between knobs or handles and decided to do a glass vintage knob.

I want this piece for storage.  I decided to play with baskets to see what would work for storage.  Most of the storage will be miscellaneous things like my decor books, holiday decor, throws etc.

I like the finished look.

You know how one thing leads to another!  With taking down the items on the wall behind this cabinet we touched up the holes.  Then I decided that I am going to need to add something to this wall behind the cabinet and on the little side wall to give some texture and pattern.

I am thinking some kind of wallpaper pattern so the cabinet does not blend into the wall color.  I am on the hunt.  I also thought maybe a faux brick look.  I will have to see what I can find.  I will share that with all of you when I get that figured out.

I do love this piece and I have lots of new storage.
I wish I could have sanded down the original piece but it was not sanding down to a good looking natural wood underneath the stain.
Fusion paint then was my next choice.

Fusion is my newest found paint that is easy to work with and gives a nice finish to your furniture pieces.
From the reviews I have read it holds up well.

Remember if you do not want a matte finish you an always use Fusions clear coat stain and finishing oil to cover the paint to give your piece a gloss sheen.  I used this on my coffee table and dining room table.

Have a great rest of the week.
We are still in the deep freeze and I do feel so sorry for all of you southerner's and East coasters that were hit so hard with the ice and snow.  I know you are not used to that kind of winter weather and I hope all of you are doing ok are safe and have electricity etc.
Yikes this winter so far has been harsh!
Hugs,
Kris
