French Cottage Tour Florida

Happy New Year.
I am off this week watching my grandgirls and enjoying some family time.

I thought while I was gone I would post about a beautiful French Style Cottage in Florida that I just love.

Breanna Pierce of The French Hens has this sweet small cottage in Palatka Florida.
Palatka a beautiful historic area in Florida.  Breanna bought this home in 2010 and has fixed it up so beautifully.
The home is historic and built in the late 1800's.

I am learning to live small and make the rooms work.
Breanna has done this beautifully.

For more pictures and more story on this lovely home you can visit Anita @ Cedar Hill Farmhouse's posting on this wonderful home.

Anita also has beautiful pictures of French Farmhouse style on Pinterest you can visit here.

I fell in love with this small cottage home and wanted to share it with all of you.
Thank you Anita for posting this lovely home so I could find it and share it with my blog friends.

Ahhhh just the sweetest little cottage and picket fence and gate.  A girl after my own heart.
The living room area is open to the dining room.  Love that fireplace.
Dining Area
Living room and dining room open concept to make the rooms feel bigger.

Beautiful Kitchen.  I love that she does not have cabinets above on the wall.  Makes her kitchen feel so much bigger.
Large Window for lots of light streaming in this kitchen.
Super cute guest room or little girls room.

Breanna's bedroom looks straight out of a french chateau.

Love the angles in the ceiling to make the room feel larger.

I have found that living small is fun and easy to keep up.
You just have to be creative and think outside the box to make every inch of your tiny house work for your needs.
Breanna's home is a beautiful example that you can live small and still have a beautiful home.

Happy New Year.
After this week I hope to take down all the Christmas and start to fill in the room for the long winter months.
Hope to have a post soon on some New Year changes.
Hugs,
Kris

  1. WOW. DOUBLE WOW. OK, many of the homes in my neighborhood look like this on the outside. If only more people would add that simple curb appeal of a picket fence, then all would be right with my world. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To look at the interior based on the small exterior, one has to give a HUGE applause to Anita for brilliantly composing her furnishings to lift this small home to grand heights. How beautiful is the focal point of the fireplace and the furniture of such high quality is sympathetically placed. That kitchen is TDF! The child's room.....yes yes yes yes on that bed crown!

Living small is a fun challenge to help our ideas bust out. WELL DONE!

  5. What I'd give to have that sweet little house! Yes, living small is trying sometimes, but so worth it. As I age I have more arthritis and don't have it in me to clean a big house anymore. This is just about right for me. When I look online at homes to rent, even if I could afford them I just groan when I think about cleaning even one more bedroom and especially deal with a yard.

  10. So cute. I like living small but you have to remember every time you see a pretty that you have to have a place for it because "places" are limited!

  13. KRIS!!!! Good morning and happy 2020!!! I just happened to look at my blog post and saw that you had visited. I haven't taken anymore photos of the new kitchen space so I decided to share some "before" and "after" shots, that still don't capture all the joys and attempts and trials and errors Ruben and I have experienced to make this house what we wanted. But you know what the feelings are like, don't you!

Well my friend, may 2020 be a sensational year and thank you for your friendship.

  17. It is darling, Kris! The outside sold me right away. Small houses are so friendly and I like the feeling of intimacy it helps family members have. When I pass a huge house now I can't help but think about how easy it would be to each go to his own space and not be available to each other.

    Have fun babysitting!

  21. Looking at this sweet French cottage and your JCC motivates me to consider small cottage living rather than condo living for our retirement years. So pretty!
