She Shed Update

Happy Monday Sweet Friends

This was the chicken coop I purchased to become my garden she shed.

We had to take this apart completely to move it from this yard to our yard.
Not an easy feat but we were determined and got it moved.
The sides came apart and the roof stayed in one piece.
It was the hardest piece to move with it not able to take it apart.
Took 3 guys to lift that roof into the truck.

This is how it looked in my backyard for the last few weeks.

The base/floor of the shed in the backyard is where the she shed is getting put back together.

This back area of the yard and flower beds was so out of control with growth and weeds.

This house was a rental before we bought it.
So these beds had never been taken care of.

Before fall we had everything torn out and mulch put down for winter.

Besides the she shed getting put in this part of the flower bed the rest of the beds will be getting lots of pretty flowering bushes and perennials this summer.

The backyard is a mess and soooo ugly.  I hope we will get the decks put in and then come May the flower beds will get planted and by the middle of summer the backyard will look really pretty.

Terry was able to use a paint sprayer and paint the inside and out of the shed after it was reassembled.

We still have to paint the front top under the roof where it is still chippy.

That was the part of the roof that was face down on the grass and did not get any paint.

This Shed took 3 gallons of Behr Ultra White Exterior paint!

The wood just sucked up the paint.

I did not take off the painters tape on the top of the window lol!

I just noticed that in the picture.

The cubbies is where the hens had their nests.
I will do something cute with garden decor in these bins.
I still have the little name tags of each of the hens names.

I may have to put them back on the bins!

This wall also has lots of shelves too.
I cannot wait to start to decorate this with pretty chic garden decor and shabby chic chair,  pillows etc.

Tea party anyone?
I love this inspiration picture and hope to incorporate some of the shabby chic into the garden shed.

Inspiration!!!!
I also found a cute little table and 4 chairs similar to this one in the picture to have near my She Shed.

Inspiration!

Inspiration!

My she shed has this very exact shelf on the side and I like the way they decorated this one.
More inspiration.

The weather is beginning to be nice.

When May arrives we can begin to plant flowers here in Illinois.

I will be excited to begin to transform the she shed.

Hope you are all staying home and safe.

We are in the crucial weeks right now.

If we all follow the stay in place rules we may see some normal returning in May.

Have a great new week.

  7. GOOD MORNING! Oh, this is starting to look good! You finally have it up, the painting has started and with nicer weather being more consistent, you are going to be playing house in no time, and we get to watch! I love it all, Kris. I can't wait to fix up our deck area. I have a beautiful old white "lacy" table and chairs in there and the only thing about our deck area is that it's the natural cedar wood (which has that orangy color) but I'd love to paint it white. We shall see what the mister says! HAVE FUN!

  10. Wow Kris! What a transformation already. I am loving all of your inspiration pics, and really look forward to seeing it after you have worked your magic. You stay safe - it's very critical here in the UK now, but unfortunately we have still got too many people not taking enough notice of the guidelines to keep everyone safe and let our NHS cope with it all. We are most concerned about our Prime Minister, who is now in Intensive Care. Cannot believe the cruel and wicked comments that have been on social media today. Such a shame that we have these minority of people, as on the whole the people and companies of the UK have been remarkable with their help and kindness. Hugs, Gilly x

  11. I can imagine how beautiful you will make this look. It's starting already and it only received paint.

I'm worried we aren't going to be able to get flowers. It would be horrible to have no flowers or herbs.

NJ gas a rough few weeks ahead of us.

    Hugs,

    Cindy

  12. Oooh! I love all your inspiration photos and can't wait to see how you decorate yours! Yes please, put the hens name tags back on! How cute would that be?
I'm ready for normal to return as I'm sure everyone else is to! Glad Spring is here and I can work in my flowerbeds. It helps!

  13. Wow, you two have done a great job with assembling the she shed! I love all the inspiration you found and I just know that you will put your personal stamp on all the fun decor. Flowers spilling out of the nesting box on the side of the building will be so pretty. Kris, you always have the most beautiful flowers. We masked and gloved up to go to the nursery right at opening yesterday to buy vegetable plants and seeds. I didn't take any time to look at flowers. In and out and trying to dodge an old man who was unmasked and didn't get the memo about six feet of separation. Enjoy your week...can't wait to see the finished she shed! xoxo

  15. I get to plant one month ahead of you. I can't imagine a better place to hang out during this pandemic. I think putting the names of the hens back on would be lovely. As would a grouping of flower containers surrounding the she shed. You lucky girl! Wish I had a "Terry" to help me.

  20. How fun! I'm so excited for you. I have a big ol' smile on my face right now. Love all your inspiration photos, and I know whatever you do it's going to be fabulous. I love the architectural detail below the roof on the front, the window and door. Do you know the history behind the shed, Kris? It looks vintage, so I'm wondering if it is a really old shed or if the previous owners just made it look that way. I just love to know the what/how/when of things. Whatever. . .I love it! Hugs, Nancy

  23. So darling!! I was waiting for this post. I think those little hen name tags would be so cute decorating your shed. I know you'll do something adorable with them. You've inspired me to decorate our pool cabana. I've tried in the past, but I always end up starting projects and then decide to float instead! Haha. However, I have a feeling we'll be stuck at home for quite a while, so it would be nice to have a prettier view! xoxo

  25. Looking at your shed shed, it "almost" makes me want to go outside and work in our overgrown and "full of weeds" yard! Not quite though.. I have no cute she shed to inspire me! Yours will be just awesome! Marilyn

  29. You are always working on something creative. This shed is so adorable. Going by your inspiration photos, it's going to be just amazing when you get it all rehabbed. You have a very cute back yard, can't wait to see photos of it in summertime!

  30. oh my, it is going to be so cute and I am sure your yard will be spectacular. For everything there is a season.
Many of your inspiration photos for your she shed are ones that I have also pinned as inspiration. I won't be getting a new she shed, but I hope to be able to utilize the one I have in a fashion other than just for storage. We'll see, gonna have a contractor friend look at it first for structural integrity, before I put any $s into it.
I am hunkered down here. Have been having a cough, so not feeling 100% and of course it is the responsible thing for me to stay put vs going out.
Hope everyone will continue to fare well with your family and friends. Here in Cali, we seem to be holding our own, better than anticipated.
    Prayers for all

  31. Oh my goodness, Kris! This is going to be so cute!! I can only imagine what you will be doing with it. Last week was so nice here, we got a great start on some yard work, but it all came to a halt when the governor ordered no more sales on gardening supplies...boooooo. Hopefully, just a couple more weeks and we can get back at it. The weather is turning colder again, so we can't really do much right now anyway. Do you have most of the items you need to do the inside of your shed? or are you waiting for better weather? You must be so anxious to work on it!! I look forward to seeing what you accomplish. Debbie xo
