I have been struggling with thinking about moving away for retirement. One option we are thinking about is moving to Michigan in that area we love. We would be 1 to 2 hours from both girls. Right in the middle. This could be an option if we get a cute little lake cottage for Spring, Summer and Fall and then become snowbirds in the winter months and go to different places with a warmer winter. This way we are not committed to one area in the south.
Still waiting on the powers that be to figure out what will be next for Terry. Then we can make some decisions.
In the meantime I am recovering from some minor foot surgery. Hobbling around for a few days.
Hope you all have a beautiful week. Hugs, Kris |
Kris, I love looking at all of the bikes you've decorated from the past. They are all so unique and beautiful looking. I loved that she shed you re-loved and also decorated. You have such a talent with your gardening and interior design! I hope you have a speedy recovery and feel better soon. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the bike and Flowers in all your homes. The story of the squirrel bandit is hilarious, and I don't think I ever heard that one! I really like how you're thinking retirement through, and hope MI provides some sound decisions. Are you going to look at the church condo, cinsidering that as an option?
ReplyDeleteHope you're back on your feet and in your flip-flops soon.❣️
Loved seeing all your bike pictures, past and present Kris! A great idea to use those faux flowers to beat the wildlife. Your hydrangeas are looking beautiful, in fact all of your garden too. Love the tale of the squirrel! I hope that you will be able to come to the right decision in time about where to settle - it's very difficult but I'm sure that you and Terry will come to the right answer. Hugs Gilly (UK)
ReplyDeleteI’m so sorry that you’re hobbling around after your foot surgery, Kris, but happy to know you’re doing well. Your decorated bikes are all so pretty, and the fabulously adorned squirrel nest was a funny mystery solved! I know you’ll make the right decision in choosing your retirement home as we keep you and Terry close in prayers. Meanwhile, relax and enjoy your beautiful flowers, both faux and real. 😘
ReplyDeleteKris, all of the bikes are darling. The squirrel story is so funny. Who knew? The ground squirrels around here eat petunias. They have also been known to take the stuffing out of my cushions. Having some faux flowers is the perfect way to add some color and not worry about out the critters eating them. Sorry you are hobbling around. Rest up so you can wear some cute sandals. Hugs
ReplyDeleteAs they say "The struggle is real"
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos today dear Kris. Seriously, the big question is: do both of you want to be pioneers at this stage in life? A big move out of state and distance from family or even friends, is a big change. You can hope for the best, but there will always be challenges, especially with medical care, a doctor you trust? even just an environment that you know and the church and friends and groups you connect with. Moving so far sounds easy and fun, but it might be emotionally challenging. A lot of "what ifs"
Tennessee is beautiful. My nephew lives in Nashville, but far from the city now, thanks to a large beneficiary sum from my father's trust. I am glad.
Michigan, .... my hubbs is from Michigan. It is a beautiful and very large state.
The Lake Michigan side is incredible. I have not been there in 15 years, I really miss it. We are stuck in Northern Virginia. This is what we know, and we feel comfortable here, then again, I just turned 70!
Your Garden bikes are beautiful, sweet memories. I remember a few times the squirrels helping themselves to my garden decor. They are so silly. .. a life with no shame 🥳 🐿️
