Life Changes and Retirement Fire Service Office Decor and Giddy Goose is Back

Terry has officially retired from the Fire Service after 50 years.  That meant that his office at work with all his fire stuff needed to come home.  Since we have downsized through the years that posed a challenge on what to do with all his fire collectables.

Terry and I share our office area.  He has half and I have the other half.

When we painted his side of the office we used steel plate wallpaper on half of the wall.  Steel plate is what is on most fire vehicles.

The steel plate wallpaper just gave a little character to the wall.

I love this piece I gifted Terry years ago.  It is the Serenity prayer fire smoke on the picture and then old fire hose to frame it.

So I have the other half of the office area.

I have my storage cabinet and my wrapping paper, cards stored on this side of my office.

I was wondering if I will have enough wrapping paper when needed lol!!!

Ok funny story about this.  The "Porch Goose" has come back and is all the rage now.  Remember having a porch goose that you dressed for different occasions on your front porch years ago.
Well......
That trend is back.

With this said I ordered three geese off of Temu for myself and my two daughter's porches.  The description said they are 27 inches tall and the picture on Temu was the goose on a front porch.

Here's the funny part this is what they sent me!

I was excited when I got the huge box on the porch.  I opened that big box that would fit three 27 inch geese and found a smaller box with these three inside.
OMG!!!  I had to laugh.  Seriously!  That huge box had these three little geese inside.

I normally do not order from Temu but the geese were sold out on Amazon and other sites.  Beware when you order from Temu lol!

According the kitschy trend the porch goose is back!  This is what they should look like!!!

Ok Linda (Life and Linda blog) I could so see this outfit on a goose by your backyard pool oasis!

You can order outfits all over the internet now.

I had a goose years ago that I did dress and kept on my porch.  Somewhere along the line she came up missing.

I ordered a new goose.  She likes to watch out my office window to the flowers until her Chicago Bears outfit comes.  Yep! hopefully she will bring good luck to our Chicago Bears this season.

We are big Chicago Bears fans in this family.  Every Sunday is get together Sunday Funday to watch the bears game.  My daughter's and I will have our Chicago Bears Goose out on the porch for the season.
We are planning on a Super Bowl win this year!

Since we did not have a lot of space inside for Terry's collectables.  Some are now hung in his man cave garage.

This helped to decorate his garage area.  There is still so many antiques that could not fit and are in storage.  50 years of collecting fire department items old and new!

With Terry always having a Fire Chief Car we did not have a second car.  Now with being retired we had to go this past weekend to find him a new car.

Wishing all of you a wonderful start to the new week.
Hugs,
Kris

Ahhhhh memories.  This is a picture of when Terry dressed our oldest daughter up in fire gear at her school when she was in the 4th grade.  Time does really go quickly.  Jen is now 43.   I keep telling her to quit getting older it is just Rude!!!!  Terry is now well we won't get into that!!!

  2. Kris, Happy Rettirement to Terry, and I mean that in the most sincere way. I hope he finds himself so busy and happy he doesn't even want part-time work. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE his entire fireman's collection, and how you've split the office space to share. The garage man cave looks super cool too. Hey, if you ever decide to.wallpaper again, you can choose from.your gift wrap, lol. Or, use the wrap as table runners. The Temu geese are hilarious. I have seen a couple.of those concrete geese resurfacing in my neighborhood. 😊 I hope y'all have a good week and get closer to closing out Terry's mom's house, at least.

  5. Kris, congratulations to Terry on his retirement. So many memories and collections to honor his service. Such a great idea splitting the office space. It all looks amazing. So glad Terry also has a man cave in the garage. How funny about the geese you purchased from Temu. You have to read every description when purchase from Temu. It made me chuckle when you showed a porch goose dressed in leopard to be placed by our pool. You know me and leopard…LOL The porch goose is darling all dressed up in fun outfits. Funny about trends coming back full circle. Happy retirement to Terry.. Hugs

  6. Dear Kris, this is a great blog today. Congratulations to Terry.
I love the little gooses you got from Temu.
I got a pattern on Etsy to sew fabric gooses. They are so cute. I made one for each of my grand babies.

  8. Wishing Terry a very Happy Retirement! Such a huge collection of memorabilia to find homes for. I have to say that I do prefer your side of the office, which is totally pretty and also practical. Love the pictures and especially the final one - such precious memories. Now is the time for you both to start making new memories. Glad to hear that Terry is well - it sounds like there is a story there, but all we need to know is that he is well now. Hugs, Gilly (UK)

  11. Wishing Terry a happy retirement, Kris!! He certainly deserves it after 50 wonderful years of service at a job he loved, AND he deserves that new car. Your shared office space looks perfect and so does the garage area. I remember and had one of those geese. The leopard one is perfect for Linda!
I hope Terry finds something fulfilling to do in his spare time! xo

  12. Big Congrats to Terry! What a great milestone to celebrate. The office looks fabulous as does the man cave. SO lucky you have that added space to display his awesome collectibles from over the years. New cars are always fun. And your 'side" of the office is stunning! 14. Hi Kris... Congrats to Terry for a WELL DESERVED retirement! I'm sure you'll find things to keep him busy! :-).......... hee hee.... I LOVE his office! How wonderful to have all that memorabilia right there to look at, for both of you. And I love the picture of your daughter all dressed up as a fire"girl"!!!! I bet each and every piece of those items on his wall brings back a cherished memory. What a man... to dedicate his life to firefighting and saving lives for 50 years. He definitely DOES deserve that car! And much happiness and peace for the coming years.. no more rush and stress hopefully. Funny.. I've lived on the west coast my entire life, and never have heard of the porch goose! But... I've almost always lived out in the country, not in a town, or had houses with porches! They sure are cute though.. and I had to laugh at the Temu geese! I've never ordered from them.. just leary of them and the things they say are one thing and then they are not. I'm sure you'll find good use for the baby geese! it's HOT HOT HOT here by the coast, and hope you have cooler days. Later this week will cool off thank goodness. Hugs... Marilyn

  18. Oh, Kris, I might have teared up a little at the tribute to Terry and his 'side' of the office. He is such a special man and I have had the privilege of getting to know him personally. I am glad he got a new car but I know that is an extra expense because he had a car when he was in service. By the way, Thank him for his service to the community. Glen's birthday was yesterday and he has been retired for 3 years now. Crazy. He is so busy all the time that we rarely see him.
I am laughing about the geese from Temu. They take their pictures using scaled down objects so everything looks bigger than it really is. I have bought some decent things, that are what they say they are, but some of the stuff is crappy. lol
Your office looks beautiful. I need to work on my own and I need to start clearing out the storage area and purging/getting rid of things.
Love this post. Have fun with the little goslings. lol. xo Diana

  19. Hello,

I have an idea for a long-term collaboration that could help both of our blogs grow stronger together while creating mutual benefits.

As a first step, we could each publish an original introduction article featuring one another's blog. To keep everything natural and valuable, each article would include just one relevant blog post link, allowing us to build a genuine and meaningful blogging partnership.

Beyond that, we could strengthen our connection over time by leaving thoughtful comments on each other's new posts, exchanging ideas, and developing new collaborative projects. This kind of partnership can help increase our blogs' organic traffic, build stronger authority with Google, and create lasting value for both of us.

I truly believe that successful blogs are not built by growing alone, but by building quality relationships with other passionate bloggers. A small step today could become the foundation of a much larger blogging network in the future.

If this idea sounds interesting to you, I would be delighted to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Let's explore what we can achieve together.

    Kind regards,
