Happy June

Just a fun post on past summer garden pictures  from Junk Chic Cottage.

Gotta love an old chippy watering can and chippy iron bench for summer.  This was a bench I had on our front porch of the Lake Zurich Cottage.  Loved that chippy yellow watering can.

Speaking of watering cans here is an old collection of mine.  What is it about old watering cans?! Loved my pink garden boots.

A nicely painted watering can in a garden is a must.
There is nothing like an old painted birdhouse in a garden of roses.
Sometimes a birdhouse and picket fence make for a great backdrop for lovely summer petunia's.

I had this painted garden tour sign in a few of my summer gardens.

I loved my vintage bike which I  added into my garden decor each year.

These next few pictures are of the different looks and covers of my special lounge chair.  I have to say my most favorite part of summer is relaxing on this great summer lounge chair.

This was on my old deck at the Lake Zurich home.  I love that chandelier that hung out there by my lounge chair.  Was so pretty and romantic to have it lite up at night.

This was another summer with a different lounge cover on this chair.  I also loved those old vintage doors that I had behind my lounge chair that summer too.

It was always so much fun to try different decor and flowers around my lounge chair each summer.

This particular summer I used an old vintage headboard and foot board around my lounge chair.  It gave some whimsy to my lounge chair that summer.

This was my pretty cover that was made out of a twin coverlet.  I had this cover on the lounge chair when we moved into the town house.
I added this vintage side table next to the lounge chair.
Even with having a small outdoor space at the townhouse I still was able to create a small sanctuary space for my lounger.
This of course is my lounge chair this summer  on our new deck at out cottage home.

Of course a sweet garden hat and good reading material is always a must with a nice relaxing lounge chair.

Thanks for reminiscing with me on some of my past garden pictures.
Happy June.  So happy summer is here with great weather, relaxing on my lounge chair and enjoying my flowers.

Have a great weekend.
xoxo
Kris

  9. Kris, I love all your garden pictures. Yes, I want an old pair of boots too. LOL. Your lounge chaise is perfect in it's new place. I hope you do get a chance to use it often. It's nice on and off here. We could use a bit more rain here...can you even believe I am asking for rain. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Hope you come back to see this. I cannot wait for them to get this email thing fixed. I did actually hang a real chandelier. We just used a outdoor extension cord and plug. It worked fine and was ok if it rained. Happy Weekend.

When I did the poem about her last Halloween, my sister thinks I should write a children's book about Bitty Morsel. What? How many stories could a wee mouse tell? I don't think so.. Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy

  17. Was so fun seeing your "past lounge chair" pictures! I remember all of them and just love how your change it up... especially LOVE the one with the doors behind it.. and with the chandelier. How do you make/keep your flowers so huge and proficient???? My hanging baskets just kind of "sit there" and don't do much. Must be some sort of good fertilizer? Oh.... LOVE your new header! And.... I've been inspired by your painted mailbox. I had an old one that I painted pink and it sits out among my potted flowers.... I HAVE to paint some boots pink too! And love all the different watering cans.

What are those pink flowers in your last photo on the deck rail? Love how they look in the white box on the white fence! So much to look at and enjoy! Hugs.. Marilyn

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I use miracle grow that you attach to your hose. I feed once a week. Our flowers do really well here in the midwest. Our summers are not really hot. Some hot days but not a lot so the flowers flourish here. We get plenty of rain on and off too that helps them so much. I also purchase my flowers from a really great nursery that get them off to a great start. The flowers in the last picture come in white and pink and purple. I cannot remember the name of them. They almost remind me of a hydrangea. I will research it and if I find out I will let you know. They are hearty and do well in heat and sun.
      Hugs,
      Kris

  18. Hello Kris.Just wanted to know how you upkeep the coverlet? What about rain, the sun, and the birds?

    1. The rain and sun do make them fade with the ones I have had made out of regular material. The last few that I have had were made with an outdoor fabric that is guaranteed to withstand 500 hours or more of sunshine and rain. So I usually can get a few seasons out of them now. I have a great lady that sews these for me and I try so hard to make them last. I take them in every few weeks to wash them. I have found that if I use a heavy duty fabric softener that helps keep them from fading too. Have a great weekend. Thank you for your visit.

  27. Hi Cil. The miracle grow helps but the climate is also the key. Here in the midwest we have pretty mild temps right now so the flowers get a good start. I also use a very very good nursery to get my flowers and they begin to grow them with high vitamin soil in the winter months in a green house. So with all of this I get beautiful flowers. Petunias are pretty hardy and can take rain and humidity and heat but they are high maintenance. They have to be deadheaded all the time to keep them growing and blooming so full like they do. Have a wonderful start to this new week.
