French Cottage Tour Florida

Happy New Year.
I am off this week watching my grandgirls and enjoying some family time.
I thought while I was gone I would post about a beautiful French Style Cottage in Florida that I just love.

Breanna Pierce of The French Hens has this sweet small cottage in Palatka Florida.

Palatka a beautiful historic area in Florida.  Breanna bought this home in 2010 and has fixed it up so beautifully.
The home is historic and built in the late 1800's.

I am learning to live small and make the rooms work.
Breanna has done this beautifully.

For more pictures and more story on this lovely home you can visit Anita @ Cedar Hill Farmhouse's posting on this wonderful home.

Anita also has beautiful pictures of French Farmhouse style on Pinterest you can visit here.

I fell in love with this small cottage home and wanted to share it with all of you.
Thank you Anita for posting this lovely home so I could find it and share it with my blog friends.

Ahhhh just the sweetest little cottage and picket fence and gate.  A girl after my own heart.

The living room area is open to the dining room.  Love that fireplace.

Dining Area

Living room and dining room open concept to make the rooms feel bigger.

Beautiful Kitchen.  I love that she does not have cabinets above on the wall.  Makes her kitchen feel so much bigger.

Large Window for lots of light streaming in this kitchen.
Super cute guest room or little girls room.

Breanna's bedroom looks straight out of a french chateau.
Love the angles in the ceiling to make the room feel larger.

I have found that living small is fun and easy to keep up.
You just have to be creative and think outside the box to make every inch of your tiny house work for your needs.
Breanna's home is a beautiful example that you can live small and still have a beautiful home.

Happy New Year.
After this week I hope to take down all the Christmas and start to fill in the room for the long winter months.
Hope to have a post soon on some New Year changes.

Celebrating Friends In The New Dining Area

Happy Friday Everyone.

Christmas came and went so quickly.
Now we are all moving on to the brand new year.

I have one more celebration tonight and then Christmas will be officially over and we can concentrate on the new year and all that will come in 2020.

It has been good to visit all of your blog posts to see that everyone is so blessed and had wonderful Christmas time together with family and friends.

Thought I would show you my table setting for tonight.
Two wonderful and dear friends will come by to celebrate a Christmas meal and friendship tonight.
It is my year to host so I am glad we could carve out a tiny space for dining in this small cottage.

This is my place settings.  My white plates with my vintage Pottery Barn Christmas tree plates.  The charger looks white but it is silver.
It is mild weather here for us but so gloomy with rain in the forecast.  No sunshine today for a good picture :(

My centerpiece is a simple old light fixture with candles and my sweet silver mesh angel with her votive all a glow.

It will be nice to celebrate our friendship and share a nice meal together.

Then tomorrow Terry and I will be off to stay with my two granddaughters for a week.

My daughter and SIL are off to Key West for a wedding.

Abby 9 years old and Charlotte 3.

With the look on Charlotte's face with the knife I am wondering if I should be afraid lol!

Signing off for a week to spend with the girls so I will wish each of you the most wonderful New Year's Eve.

May 2020 bring all of us much happiness, joy each day and let's pray for more peace in our world.

Merry Christmas Chicago

Merry Christmas Everyone.

We celebrate our Christmas on Christmas Eve.

I wanted to share a special place in Chicago where we went to have our Christmas Eve dinner.

It is Lawry's Prime Rib House in Chicago on Ontario just off Michigan Avenue.

We went early for a late afternoon early dinner.

Born in Beverly Hills, 1938 – A Chicago Classic Since 1974. Dine in our Historic 1890’s McCormick Mansion on Lawry’s famous Roasted Prime Ribs of Beef, carved tableside from silver carts, with Lawry’s “spinning bowl” salad, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, creamed corn and buttered peas. Fresh fish nightly.

The inside of this beautiful mansion is even more gorgeous.

The architecture and spiral staircase is spectacular.

We take our picture by the Christmas tree each year.

The pictures do not do the rooms justice.
 They are just gorgeous.

My mom and my youngest daughter Kimmie.

Me and my oldest daughter Jen.

Terry and me.

You have a Master Carver that comes right to your table and carves your Prime Rib right at your table.
Mmmmm so good.

A little Christmas Charm while you eat.

You have your choice of cream spinach or cream corn for your veggie.
Both are so delish.
You can have both if you would like.

A traditional Yorkshire pudding is served to soak up all the au jus!

My sweet granddaughter Charlotte in her Doc Martins she got for Christmas.
She cracks me up every time I tried to take her picture she would act shy.
Believe me she is not shy!!!!!

My daughter Kimmie and other grand girl Abby.

A must after dinner is to walk up the street to Garrett's Popcorn Shop.
The lines to get in can be long but oh so worth the wait.

They have so many fabulous flavors.  My fave is the Chicago Mix of caramel corn and cheese corn.  It melts in your mouth.

Always served hot and fresh.

Then for the car ride home or a nice stop after dinner right around the corner is the world's largest Starbucks.

It takes up the corner on Michigan Avenue and half way down the block.

Four levels of drinks and tables looking out over the Magnificent Mile.
Garden roof top tables too.

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful holiday.
May you all enjoy today and the rest of the week with family and friends.

If you ever visit Chicago you must try out Lawry's and Garretts and call me and I will join you lol!

I for one will be detoxing from sugar and rich foods for the new year!!!!

A Little Soap Talk

Happy Friday Sweet Friends.

As we head into the last weekend before the big day I wanted to share something special about a person that makes good for the earth soaps and scrubs and lip balms.

I found this wonderful person through Michele at Finch Rest blog.
Michele and I have been blogging friends and her daughter now has a one women operation and makes the most wonderful soaps and scrubs and lip balms.

Her company's name is Fresha Soap Company.

Not only does she make all natural and wonderful products her company also gives back.

Here is her own statement on her site about being part of the community and giving back.

Our goals are big.

This Good Stuff Community, as I fondly call it, goes beyond you and me. Fresha Soap has partnered with a local organization called Fleur’s Dream to provide our soaps to the homeless community in Columbus, Ohio, because these souls are my neighbors. Cleanliness and hygiene should not be luxuries. They should be rights for all people. I feel lead to begin these efforts in my own back yard and do what I can to help provide a basic necessity to those who need a little help. Every time you “give a little extra“,  your generosity allows me to make and donate soap through our Good Stuff Community to Fleur’s Dream.
Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.

I always love to share great places to find the best products and support women in business and also companies that give back.

Here is the two soaps and sugar scrubs I bought for gifts and for myself and Terry.

I also bought a set of sugar scrub and soap for my Girlfriend Charity Party that is going to be in January this year.

The Water Flower smells amazing and is so soft and great on your skin.
I especially love the sugar scrub.

The Soft Gray is amazing and I bought this for Terry and a few of the guys on our gift giving list for this year.

If you want a great gift of soaps, scrubs or lip balms please visit Evelyn's site.
     You will not be disappointed.
She describes the scents so nicely to help you make your decision.

You can click here to go to her site.

She wraps these so nicely for gift giving and ships quickly.

I love when women start up their own small business and especially shops like Evelyn's that make natural environmentally safe products that also give back to the community.

I am so happy to give this shout out to Michele's sweet daughter and her business.

Please take a minute and visit Fresha Soap Co.  Treat yourself to something really special.

We all need a little pampering at this time of year.
Our Elf on the Shelf Buddy was found in Buddy's Christmas Stocking this morning.

Hope he let's Santa know Buddy has been a very good little boy this year and needs a few new toys and bones in his stocking on Christmas morning.

Have a great weekend enjoying getting ready for Christmas.

    Christmas Birds and Kringle Frost

    Happy Wednesday Sweet Friends.

Oh my one week until Christmas!!!!  When Thanksgiving is late it makes Christmas come even faster.

Hope you all are enjoying this last week as we head on down to the big day.

I wanted to share a few little birdies that have flown into my life and a cute Kringle Frost gifted to me.

These sweet little birds were gifted to me by my friend Diana for Christmas.
They are so sweet and I love their fun feet!

Thanks Diana they make me smile.

Some of my little family of birds have flown to the back of my stove in the kitchen.

I just love this sweet little couple.

This sweet little family is adorable.
Not sure why but these birds just make me smile every time I see them.

This guy Mr. Kringle Frost was hand made and gifted to me by a dear friend in blogland.

He also has a cute bird friend and owl friend.

It was not planned but it seems like a lot of my decor this year is bird themed!

Some of you asked about the ornaments I hung on my lamps this year.
I could not remember where I got them I have had them for so long.
I do want to share with you these would be pretty easy to make.

She cut the star pattern out of a corrugated piece of cardboard box.
You can see the corrugated lines on the top of the star.
You probably would not even have to use a corrugated box.
Flat pieces of box would work too.
Great way to recycle packing boxes from this time of year.

I am showing you the back of the star to see how easy peasy this is out of a piece of box.
Then she hooked a piece of wire to hang them.
Then she just took buttons, pieces of lace and made a little joy banner and attached them to the star.
I think these would be pretty easy to make.
I might think about making these next year to put on packages.

Hope all of you are enjoying this last week leading to Christmas Day.
I am finished and just enjoying listening to Christmas music and taking in all the beautiful lights and decor for Christmas.
